It had been a week.

Not a sound.
Not a whisper.
She was asleep.
"Coma." They had told me.
"Dead." They had implied.
She was dead.
It was my fault.
"Christine, I'm so sorry." I whispered.
"It's me-it's Erik. I'm alive and now you're not, and I...oh my gosh. Please wake up. Christine, I need you."
I held her hand.
Then I heard beeping.
Doctors rushed in..
Everything was blurry.
She was gone.
I was pushed out of the room by a nurse.
I fell to the ground and started to cry.
