"Garam?"
Yuju held her phone tightly to her ear. She waited until something finally came from the other line. The last thing Yuju would have thought was that Kim Garam would call her at this hour.
"Can we meet now?", asked the girl, sobbing. Yuju raised on eyebrow and looked at the time.
"At this time of night?" she looked around the park. The only light came from the lanterns, and otherwise it was pitch black.
"Yes, please," Garam almost begged her. Hesitantly, Yuju agreed and waited until Garam would send her her address. She was right, the project wasn't finished yet. But why now and not the next week?
Reluctantly, Yuju packed her phone in her jacket pocket and headed for Garam's house. She hated walking around Seoul alone at night. The experience from the day before yesterday still bothered her.
Heeseung suddenly came to her mind again, and Yuju had to giggle for a moment. When she called him helplessly and he started singing for her out of nowhere, warmth spread through her heart.
It was one of the things Yuju had recently discovered about him. Surely there was still a lot she didn't know about him, as both of their hearts are completely strange. She quickly realized that she was starting to learn much about him what made her curios about more.
After about a few minutes, Yuju arrived at the given address. She stood in front of very large gates that blocked a very large house from the outside world. She didn't know if whether she should ring now or not, or whether Garam would come out to her.
Before she could ring the bell, she saw the door of the large house open and that someone was running out. As the person came closer, she recognized Garam.
Yuju took a few steps back as the large towers in front of her opened and an angry creature ran out of them. The face of Garam turned its gaze in Yuju's direction and looked at her.
She looked as if she had been crying all day. Her mascara wasn't as soft on her eyelashes as usual, and her hair wasn't neatly styled and held back with a barrette. Instead, her eyes were swollen.
"S-shall we finish geography?" Garam asked stammering and forced a smile on her face. Unsure what Yuju should do, She sat there, looking at Garam. She had never expected to see her in such a state, or even thought she could be like this.
"Kim Garam!" someone shouted from the villa. Startled, Yuju looked at Garam who was running back and forth on the spot. She was pulling at her hair and looked as if she was about to have a mental breakdown.
Yuju quickly took Garam by the hand and pulled her behind her. The woman let herself be led by her. Yuju felt the trembling hand in hers and squeezed it even more. They came to the greatest Library throughout Seoul and Garam fell onto the steps leading to the library's large entrance doors.
A cold shiver ran down Yuju's spine. The fact that she's now able to witness Kim Garam's mental breakdown is a miracle.
But the funny thought immediately vanished. Garam sat despairingly on the stairs, staring into the void. Her makeup was now completely ruined.
Yuju carefully sat down next to her. She doesn't know what to do in such a situation. She's never had a friend with whom she could share all her sorrow.
"Yuju?" Garam asked in a hoarse voice. The named one turned her full attention to Garam. She cleared her throat:
"Am I really the chick you see in me?" she asked shakily. Yuju looked at her, confused. But she wasn't entirely wrong.
Garam looked into the distance again and narrowed her eyes.
"I can't do this anymore."
Suddenly, Garam began to cry. Yuju looked at her in shock. That was the last thing she expected. Unsure what to do, Yuju sat closer to Garam and pulled her into a semi-hug. Garam lay with one side of her face on Yujus chest and cried even more.
The introverted woman slowly began to stroke the crying woman's back. Yuju's heart melted. She was overwhelmed, very much so. But what was actually going on?
""I know you see me as a tussy," Garam sobbed.
"I don't blame you."
"I know it's true."
"But I can't anymore."
"I can't pretend to be so perfect anymore".
You could hear the pain in Garam's voice. It sounded as if the pain hadn't healed for a long time and was only getting worse. Yuju brushed some hair away from Garam's face.
""I, um... I like you," said Yuju. Garam sat up and looked at Yuju tearfully.
"Really?" she asked. Yuju nodded, but she had a question.
"Is it true that you told your friends you were just using me for a good grade?" she asked uncertainly. Garam shook her head vigorously.
"No, that's not true! Actually, I expected them to lie to you. I noticed myself that you were distancing yourself from me," she murmured, wiping away her tears. Yuju looked at her legs guiltily.
"Friends? No, they are not my friends. I don't have any," sobbed Garam, looking at Yuju with a painful She smiled. She took Garam's hands in hers to stop her from crying.
"Can I tell you? All my crying?" Garam asked. The woman nodded.
"I don't have any friends. It looks like it, but no. They're just 'fans' who are with me because I'm popular. My family owns a big company, and that's why they love me Everyone wants to be friends with me. But in reality, they hate me. I've heard them gossiping about me many times," she sobbed.
"I can't do all this anymore. I've fallen into this IT girl persona myself. I have to be that person. Everyone has high expectations of me. My family has high expectations of me, but sometimes it gets too much," she said, crying.
Yuju took Garam in another primal hug. A person had just confided in her, and she appreciated it. She felt the pain in Garam's heart.
""Are you crying?" Garam asked, looking at Yuju. She stroked her face and discovered tears.
""I didn't know I was so emotional," Yuju laughed, wiping away her tears. They both looked at each other with wet eyes and burst out laughing.
""Yuju, I like you," Garam smiled and took Yuju's hand in hers. Her hands were warm and soft. She looked at Yuju nervously.
"Honestly, I really like you. We haven't known each other long, but I've always found you likeable and nice. You're the only one in our year who wasn't a fan of mine," Garam murmured. She was cute, Yuju thought. She never really had anything against her. And she actually found her quite nice.
""I like you too," Yuju replied. Garam's eyes lit up.
"Becoming friends with you was definitely less painful than becoming friends with Hees-"
"Heeseung?!" Garam said as Yuju held her hands over her mouth. Garam looked at her in surprise.
""Is something going on between you and Heeseung? I've seen you together a few times," she insisted. Yuju shook her head.
"No, I'm his bullying victim, so to speak, which he blackmails from time to time," she laughed. But she was nervous, really because someone had already seen them together. Garam's expression suddenly became serious.
"Should I kill him for you?!" Yuju shook her head hastily. Before Garam would kill Heeseung, Heeseung would kill Yuju first. Interested, Garam sat closer to Yuju and pulled her legs closer.
"Can you tell me something about yourself? You're the person in the class I know the least about, and I'd like to know more about my friend! But tell me, controversial, we'll have time for small details later." Thinking about it, Yuju thought of something.
"I've had a boyfriend before."
Garam looked at her in shock. Yuju continued her speech:
"It was about a year ago when I was 16 and I knew him from my side job, he was often a customer at the café. We met and went on many dates, he goes to another school where he is the most popular boy. We came together and-"
For a moment, Yuju stopped, and if she would just continue, she would tell Garam about her heart. Even if they are now friends, she would like to keep it secret anyway. She cleared her throat:
"I got sick and he didn't want to be with me anymore".
"Just because you were sick? Was he really that crazy?!" Garam asked, stunned. He is no longer part of her life, probably better that way.
"It's been a nice five months," said Yuju, smiling, and they never had a fight or anything like that. She had enjoyed the time in his home and is grateful for it too.A glance at her mobile phone revealed that it was already shortly before midnight.
"What are you doing now? It's already late and I don't think you should go home," Yuju asked. She can remember well when Garam ran out of her house and probably her father yelled at her. Garam gave a sad smile.
"It's all right, they've probably calmed down," she murmured, taking Yuju into a firm, primeval state.
"Thank you, I've kept it all in me for years, you're a great friend, Yuji," she said, smiling at her nickname.
"Good night, Gari," she said softly as she accompanied Garam back to her house until she made her way to her apartment. Actually she wanted to have a relaxed home away, but God probably didn't like her.
Her cell phone rang and she saw on the display Lee Heeseung, rolling her eyes answered:
"Invisible girl," he said.
"What?" she asked hesitantly, hearing his throat open on the phone.
"But you don't tell anyone what I told you? And don't tell anyone that-"
"Yes, all right," Yuju muttered, she came closer to her apartment and was just looking forward to her bed, although she won't fall asleep again.
"Is your insommia kicking again?" he asked, Yuju nodded in silence and made a loud sound that could be heard over the phone. Still with her cell phone at her ear, Yuju went up the stairs of the old apartment and then into hers. To my surprise, Yuria was already deep and sound asleep.
"Do you have any lavender at home?" asked Heeseung, tired Yuju sat down on a chair in the kitchen and said "yes".
"Well, I hope you know how to make a tea from lavender, this is supposed to help with problems," she heard him say.
"How do you know that?" asked Yuju curiously.
"Just don't ask but do it," grumbled Heeseung.
"Good night," Yuju muttered, and she wanted to make the tea recommended by Heeseung and go straight to bed.
"Beautiful dreams, invisible girl," yawned Heeseung and hung up.
