Ryunosuke Tanaka x Reader
Haikyuu!!
"Tanaka-kun! Are you busy tomorrow?" (Y/N) called out to the shaved head volleyball player before he went into the gym.
Tanaka turned back to the girl with a blush, "Uh, just practice but I don't think I have it all day... why?" he asked, trying to not be nervous.
"I don't know.. maybe I just wanna hang out with you, is all. Oh well, have a good time at practice!" she gleamed at him as she walked away.
Tanaka waved at her then walked in and melted to the floor, "She's so cute.." he mumbled.
"Tanaka-senpai are you okay?" Hinata asked as he held out a hand to the 2nd year student.
Tanaka waved him off and got up on his own but stayed in a complete dazed as he walked into the locker room to change. All of the freshmen were looking at him weird but the upperclassmen knew exactly what just happened. The girl that Tanaka really likes since freshman year finally likes him back but he has been too chicken to say anything or ask her to be an official couple.
"What just happened Suga-senpai?" Hinata asked Sugawara.
Sugawara chuckled and shook his head, "He's just too dense, is all."
- Timeskip to the end of practice-
Tanaka helped finished putting everything with the team and got dressed into his everyday clothing. Tonight, he needed to get home to catch up on homework he had missed a few days ago. He waved off to the guys and walked out the door to only be greeted by a certain (h/c) haired girl, who had a blanket over her and was dressed in her pajamas.
"Tanaka-kun! You're finally done with practice, I was gonna leave just now if you weren't," she exclaimed.
He shook his head with a blush and tried to act manly, "You're gonna get sick, standing in the cold for so long," he commented.
"I know but I wanted to walk home with you," she said, shyly.
He grinned at her shyness, "Do you want something to eat?" he asked. Her eyes lightened up and she nodded her head. "Alright, where do you want to eat?"
"That ramen place near that market, I don't remember the names but I think you know what I am talking about," she mumbled, puffing out her lips.
"I do, let's go before it gets any later," he nudged her. She smiled and they both began to walk away from the gym, not knowing that a certain orange head freshman was looking at him from the window.
"Okay!" Hinata pulled away from the window, "Whose that girl that Tanaka was talking to?!" he exclaimed.
Sawamura looked over at the window to get a glimpse of the two who were walking away. He smirked, "She came by again, huh?" then he continued with cleaning up in the gym.
Hinata deadpanned and grumbled because no one will answer him.
Meanwhile, Tanaka and (Y/N) walked together, admiring the night sky and enjoying each other's company. Tanaka looked over at the girl, who was looking off to the other side seeing the homes that they were passing by, but he frowned, 'Why can't I ask her?' he wondered.
Then (Y/N) cut the silence, "Tanaka, do you still like me?" she asked, not looking at him. She still sounded so optimistic.
"Y-ye-ah," he stuttered, almost inaudible.
"Then what's stopping you?" she asked, looking at him, for a first time without a smile, "I mean, we both like each other, right? Well, I mean, I like you a lot but now I am getting the feeling that you don't have the same feelings still and I am just making a fool of myself by coming to the gym to just to see you before I go home nearly everyday," she sighed, "What I am trying to say is, do you like me or am I making a fool of myself?" she questioned herself more than him.
Tanaka gulped, "I do like you, I really do.. just... I don't know..."
Her breath hitched as she looked down. She bit her lip but smiled, "Yenno, I'll just take a raincheck on this ramen date," then she looked up at the teenager with a fake smile, "I gotta go, see you on Monday," she spoke as she turned down on a street that would eventually lead her to her street where her home is.
Tanaka looked at her figure, covered by the blanket, walk away from him, "Damnit..." he muttered as he stuffed his hands into his pocket and trudged on to his house, to not even do his homework but to go to sleep early, clearing out his mind of what has happened tonight.
-Timeskip to Monday in class-
"(Y/N)-chan?" someone called out to her.
She looked away from the window and over to her friend, (f/n), whom had a concerned look on their face but she smiled at them, "What?" she asked.
"You've been off all morning, did something happened? Was it Tanaka?" they asked.
"It's nothing, just tired. Honestly, (f/n), you worry too much," she chuckled then she glanced to the back of the room to see Tanaka looking at her then looked back at (f/n) with a cheesy smile.
After class ended, almost everyone left expect (Y/N) and Tanaka. (Y/N) stayed behind to do some homework since she won't do it at home. While Tanaka just sat there looking at her as she worked away on her papers. His hand rested on his cheek but questions roamed his head but he needed to something stupid and embarrassing. So, he went up to the chalkboard and cleared his throat, grabbing her attention. She opened her mouth to say something but Tanaka cut her off, "Today class," he began, "We'll be learning how feelings work," he turned to the chalkboard and grabbed the chalk to draw a heart. He turned back and let out a shaky exhale, "The mind thinks it knows what we want but our heart knows what we truly want. It gives us this feeling that most of the time is indescribable when we're with the person we like or even love most. It reminds us of how much they mean to us, especially when it beats really fast," he let out a chuckle and smiled when he saw the girl setting down her pencil to look at him with a grin, "And I know it does that when I am with the most perfect girl I know."
Then her hand rose up, "Perfect girl? Senpai, explain more. I don't quite understand," she smirked at him.
He gushed, "I am glad you asked that. Well, this girl, Miss. (L/N) to answer your question, first off, she's the one of the most optimistic people I have ever met, even when she isn't okay," he spoke, remembering Friday night on that walk home.
"Secondly, she's the cutest thing ever. She makes my heart melt whenever I see her. Since freshman year, my hearts been melting over her."
"Thirdly, her voice. It makes me smile whenever I hear it."
"Fourthly, she has this certain smell. She always smells like the sea breeze and it's a turn on," he winked at her as she gushed at the comment.
"Lastly, I know that I love her and I want to her to be mine, wait no. I need her to be mine because I can't imagine her not being there in my life and not seeing her smile brightening up my day. I just want and need you, (Y/N). Please in my cheesy and cliche way, be mine?" he asked her, looking at her with hoping eyes.
(Y/N) got up and stood in front of the tall boy with a small smirk, "If I say yes teach, can we go to ramen afterwards?" she slyly asked as she wrapped her arms around his waist.
He leaned down to her height, "Yes," he muttered as their lips are only centimeters away.
"Then yes, Tanaka," she spoke as she closed the gap between as her arms moved from his waist to around his neck. His hands slipped around her waist and picked her as they kissed.
"Woo!"
"Get some!"
"Yeah, Tanaka!"
"(Y/N) and Tanaka sitting in a tree..."
The cheers died as they pulled away and looked at the door to see no one but then they looked beyond the door and down the hallway, they saw the volleyball team running down the hall, still cheering on Tanaka.
The new couple smiled as Tanaka kissed her temple and they went back inside to get their stuff to get ramen as their first date.
