(~Your POV + Time Skip~)
"He d-doesn't remember, Mama. He doesn't know." Serif sobs out, brokenhearted. I pet his skull to comfort him. I don't know how to feel. Ever since I woke up, my soul feels numb.
From what the boys told me, we're in Papyrus' room. The boys told me the things that happened while I was out. We've been sitting in here for a long while, just trying to process everything. Papyrus is alive, but just like Asgore, he doesn't know us.
I can't tell what's worse: Honey being dead or him not knowing the life he left behind.
Serif is on my lap, crying loudly as he clings to me. Serif has always been more sensitive than his brother. Roman is sitting to the side of me, completely silent. Like me, he seems broken and defeated. I wrap an arm around him. Roman tears up and a low whine escapes him. "C'mere.. it's okay.. it's going to be okay.." I whisper. I squish them both while fighting back my own tears.
(~Honey's POV~)
I stand outside my bedroom door, listening in on their conversation closely.
'What am I missing?'
My hand remains on the door handle. I can't tell how many times I've wanted to go in and comfort them. My soul is literally aching with each cry I hear from those kids. For whatever reason, I just can't take it.
'I'm going in-'
Just as I turn the handle, the front door opens downstairs. "BROTHER, I'M HOME!" I take a shortcut downstairs to greet Sans, "Hey Bro." Sans gives me a disbelieving stare as he places a hand on his hip. "You're home early, Papyrus. I hope you didn't skip out of your sentry duties again." I put my hands in the pockets of my hoodie.
"Uh, about that- I found.. something..'
.
"WHAT?! WAS IT A HUMAN?! WHAT DID YOU FIND, BROTHER?! TELL ME!!!"
.
"..."
(~Your POV~)
The house went quiet for a few minutes. We heard loud screams and then nothing. My eyes stay fixated on the door. I know that voice. Sans is here. Likely, he won't remember us either. Both of them are living life as if we never existed.
Both of the twins scream as the door is blown off the hinges without warning. I hold them close and prepare for anything. What I don't expect is for Sans to come charging in dressed in grey and blue body armor. It's such a contrast to the casual but cool clothes I saw him for the past twelve years or so. His eyes meet with mine as he screams excitedly, "HUMAN!" Papyrus steps into the room soon after him. Honey looks at the door on the floor and gives a nervous look, "That was a little unnecessary. You'll scare 'em, Bro."
"Sans doesn't scare me. I've gotten used to it. His enthusiasm matches no other person I've met." I state plainly. Papyrus gives me yet another gaze of puzzlement. I look away from him and back to Sans. He gets super close to the bed, observing the twins. His smile grows wider and his pupils shift to stars, "HELLO HUMAN'S OFFSPRING!"
Roman and Serif begin to giggle amongst each other. I smirk. We're way more comfortable with Sans, even if he doesn't remember us. That's reasonable considering that he's all the family we've ever had.
"Uncle SaNs! It'S us!" Serif says through his laughter. Serif suddenly catches himself and looks to me. Even for a brief moment, he forgot what we all know.
'He doesn't remember us.'
I sigh and mouth silently to him, "It's okay." "Maybe ThIs will remind ya-" Roman jumps onto Sans in a playful tackle. That was uncalled for. "RoMan-" I raise my voice but it's too late. The two go into a playful wrestling tournament on the floor. Squeals and laughter erupt from Serif as he watches them. How could I be the one to stop that?
It didn't take much before Blue had Roman pinned down. "I don't know what the two of you are talking about, but your company is very enjoyable!" I look to Papyrus briefly. He looks pale, his pupils shrinking to bare pinpricks as he stares at the boys.
'Well... He has to have figured it out by now..'
"NOW- TO THE MATTER AT HAND! Human, in order for me to become a royal guard, I am required to capture you!!!" Blue informs me quite loudly. I remember Chara telling me about this on one of our game nights. I let out a short huff.
'It's been a while since we trained together but I think I'll be okay.'
I stand up, agreeing without hesitation, "Very well then, I'll meet you outside."
'Time to fight for my freedom.'
As I approach the doorway, I hear a low mumble. It was Papyrus. I stop and turn to him. Seeing his face is breaking my heart all over again.
'It's not him, Y/N.'
This is not the Papyrus I fell in love with. The sooner I come to accept it, the less it will hurt. "I'm sorry? Did you say something?" I inquire. He stares down at me. Now, he appears to be the one in shock. "Y-Your name." He stutters. "Y/N. Y/N Wingdings." I state firmly.
Whether he remembers me or not, I will not hide who I am. My soul is too numb to care at this point. This is the reality we're stuck in now. It doesn't make it any less awkward. I walk out the door before he can say anything else.
(~Honey's POV~)
The children stand by my side as we watch Blue and Y/N get prepared for their battle. I made sure to put us far enough away so that the boys won't get caught in the crossfire. I wished to find out more details about this timeline. Now that I know, I don't know what the heck I'm doing. My body feels like it's moving without a mind to control it. Everything is so clouded that I can barely think.
'Sans is an uncle and there's a human with our last name.'
Adding those facts with the human's initial reaction to when she saw me... There is no coincidence about that.
'I'm the missing piece of their family.'
The worst part about this is not being able to remember. I don't have any sort of clue as to what's going on or how it happened. If what they're saying is true, why can't I remember? Of course Blue wouldn't. He doesn't remember the resets.
I stare at the snow for way too long, trying to sort through my memories. It's true that I remember the resets but there are too many for me to remember every single one. All I remember are bits and pieces. How could such an anomaly happen and I not know a thing about it? My brother's voice snaps me out of my thoughts.
"READY, HUMAN?! I see you have no weapon!" The human stretches out her arms and smiles, "Don't need one!" She looks completely relaxed. I find myself puzzled by this Y/N once again. She widens her stance. Sans summons a group of bones to his side. They hover still upon command. "Alright then! I will admit that I'm intrigued by your confidence, but I will not go easy on you!"
I look down to see the kids getting excited. Roman's pupils have shifted into bright orange stars. Serif has a big smile on his face, cheering, "Mama is so cool!" Seeing their behavior brings many similarities to me and my brother. A small smirk makes its way to my face.
'Heh.. I suppose they are related..'
Blue starts off the battle, sending the rush of bones towards Y/N. Her eyes remain firm on them. I get worried as they grow closer. The closer they get, the less time she'll have to get away.
'She does know she has to dodge, right?'
Just like a puzzle she had memorized over and over, Y/N finds a gap wide enough and weaves herself through it. She acts just like Chara did: unfazed. I see as my brother's confident gaze wavers just slightly. Y/N stays focused and spreads out her stance again. "That's all you got, Blue? Come on, I know you can beat me." "Trust me Human.." Sans' eyes and hands spark with blue magic as he finishes, "I AM AWARE."
Y/N flinches as her soul soon hovers in front of her, turning blue. Sans shoves his hand forward. Y/N was suddenly thrown back with the motion. She barely manages to catch herself as she slides through the snow. As she looks up, four walls of bones are already on their way towards her. One wall from each side.
'She'll be boxed in.'
She only has a few seconds to counter. My brother is now taking her seriously. Wings of (s/c) form behind her. With one strong gust from them, she leaps into the air just far enough to clear the walls as they crashed into each other. I'm taking mental notes in my head. Never know when I might need them.
'Fire magic, huh?'
(~Your POV~)
A circle of small blasters surrounds me while I'm midair. Their mouths open and a loud whirring sound comes from them. I know that I have a range from four to six seconds before they release their magic.
Roman is excited while watching me from the ground. In all the adrenaline, he formed his wings as he hops up and down. "Do the thing, Mama! Do the thing!!!" I smirk at his reaction.
'Fireworks it is.'
My wings quickly encase me and glow brighter. Instead of using formed and controlled magic, I infuse rapid amounts of magic into them. My wings slowly lose shape as I bottle it up. I notice the state of Blue's blasters.
'One second-'
I quickly release my magic. My wings disappear and instead a circle of charged flames shoot out like a ripple in water. The fire mixes into the blasters' mouths at the same time they are cued to release their magic. Due to the timing, the magic doesn't mix well and each one ends up blowing itself up. Roman and Serif scream in excitement.
'All it takes is a chain reaction to impress these kids. Pfff-'
Though, now I can't summon my wings until after a certain time. I brace myself as I fall through the air. Using a duck and roll method Blue taught me, I'm able to cushion my fall in the snow and get right back up in a few seconds. I see Blue's face and nearly burst into laughter. His eye sockets are completely dark and his smile vanished. He's completely stunned.
'No one's been able to out-trick his blasters before this. Aw, I should've warned him. Chara and I figured that out a few months ago.'
He growls slightly, his pupils forming back. He stomps his feet furiously. "WHY DID YOU- HOW COULD YOU JUST-"
'Here's my chance.'
I run towards him at full speed. Blue's only weakness is that he lets his emotions get the better of him. It's quite easy to distract him that way even if it's just for a moment.
Blue suddenly notices me and flinches. With only a few seconds left, he lifts his hand. I forgot that my soul is still at his disposal. I shriek as I'm thrown up into the air. Blue bones suddenly lift from the ground below me. This fall is going to hurt- "I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO STOP DOING THAT, N/N!" Sans screams angrily. My eyes widen at his words.
'.... What did he just call me?'
He seemed to catch it too. Soon after, Blue's eye lights flicker suddenly as he gasps. Sans winces and grabs at his head. His blue magic around my soul is cut short. I scream as I start to fall again. Without my wings, I'm completely helpless in this situation. Something appears in between me and the blue bone death trap. My body lands on top of the large blaster with a loud thump. I don't have to think twice to know who large blasters belong to.
"OW!" I fuss, looking to Honey with a glare. To confirm my theory, his one eye socket is sparked with orange magic as his hand is extended out. He looks stressed. I get a sarcastic yell back, "You're welcome!"
'.....'
Honey looks forward and calls out, "Sans! Are you okay?!" I'm reminded of the crazy occurrence that just we just witnessed.
'Sans- What happened to Sans?'
I sit up as the blaster lowers me to a safe area on the ground. Blue is still frozen in place. He looks like he's in pain, his gloved hand grabbing tightly at his skull.
'What happened just now?'
