attention to my the lover & the beloved / the lost & the found / the sweet & the golden readers, this book is not part of the series ! it is completely independent, however, there is a resemblancr in tbe backstory, and the mere presence of these characters do signify a change in the plot, which I will explain :
this is a universe in which a first Wizarding War took place in the late 70s / early 80s. Peter Pettigrew died protecting James, Lily and Harry Potter's location, hence they are still living and well. Harry is not an orphan, but he does still have beef with Draco (because I said so).
Regulus Black was rescued from the cave by the Order of the Phoenix, and he has been the legal guardian of Tom and Mattheo Riddle ever since their mother Bellatrix Lestrange was captured and sent to Azkaban.
Tom Marvolo Riddle was killed during the final battle. As for his horcruxes, Nagini nor Harry never became part of the collection due to the events I've described beforehand. There are five Horcruxes : the diary, the ring, the cup, the locket, and the diadem. Those five are still guarded by the Order, who only had theories on how to destroy them.
Albus Dumbledore is alive but has retired since the end of the war, and Minerva McGonagall has taken over as the Headmistress of Hogwarts. Albus is still researching ways to destroy the horcruxes so there is never the threat of a return impending upon them all. So, remember, the Chamber of Secrets has yet to be opened.
The Potions Professor remains Professor Slughorn for the entirety of the story. Remus Lupin does become the D.A.D.A Professor, and no, the position isn't cursed, and we don't give a fettuccine that he's a werewolf, okay, he's got his potion, he's just chilling. Severus Snape becomes an Auror in order to actively help as a member of the Order. And I think that's about it on the Professors.
The story begins during fifth year. So yes, a Triwizard Tournament did take place the year before, and no, Harry's name did not magically appear because Remus has been the Professor this whole time and Moody was not impersonated by Crouch Jr, even though we have no idea where the fudge he is. Yes, Cedric Diggory was the winner. And because I know that Harry gave the money to the twins which helped them for the shop, let's just say he decided to give them a part of his reward because he's just that nice and we love him.
Tom and Mattheo are very close in age, they are what you can call, Irish twins. They're ten months apart, meaning that Tom was born in late February, and Mattheo in late December. However they're both in the same year because Regulus thought it better to have them be together. It's a bit weird for me, but they are indeed the same age as the Golden trio.
As for Lorenzo Berkshire, I actually know close to nothing about him. Only that he is Draco's cousin who was raised by Narcissa alongside him. I will apply this fact to this story, but he may be different from what you know, depending on what you've read before.
And finally, the OCs are transferring from mostly european wizarding schools, they know there was a war, they know who Voldemort is, but because of their safe location, and due to their parents' protecting them, their knowledge is limited. Now that it's safe, they've been moved back to UK, but they still haven't associated Voldemort to Riddle. Other children know, they mostly stay away, but at this point, after five years, they're just used to the dreadful presence.

I do not own Mattheo Riddle's character (though it might differ from what you know - I haven't read the og), it belongs to Yasmine Amaro. I do not own Lorenzo Berkshire's character (same side note), and I don't know who it belongs to, could be Yasmine again, but anyway, all credits to them.
