I found Sophie chatting with Lauren at the lockers. They looked like they were having a deep chat so I tried to keep my distance. But then Sophie noticed me and gave me a half-hearted smile before shooing away Lauren. “What was that all about?” I asked her.
“Oh it was nothing. Just the usual stuff, you know? But anyway… Why are you in you so late? You’re normally like the first one in school!”
“Oh ha ha, real funny! I’m not that much of a nerd!”
“Pfft whatever… Just spill the beans, why so late?”
“Well I was walking to school with Alex and-”
I didn’t even get a chance to finish my sentence before Sophie started screaming. “OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! Ahhh this is like a proper OMG moment! I knew you two would totally fall in love! We have to go sit down somewhere cause you’re telling me all the details!”
I couldn’t help but laugh at my best friend. She was so over the top sometimes. I rolled my eyes and tugged her arm, “Come on then, Sophs.”
I took her into the library where we could be alone and I told her all about my wild morning. She just stared at me with a massive smile all over her face and wouldn’t stop squealing. There were a lot of “ooh’s” and “ah’s” as well. We chatted about it for a good twenty minutes before the bell rang signalling for us to go to lesson one. Sophie looked disappointed that we couldn’t keep talking but I promised I’d fill her in on the rest at lunch. I made my way to double physics, oh the joy…

The first half of the day seemed to fly by and before I knew it, it was time for lunch. I went to the lunch hall and scanned the crowd of teenagers for my group of my friends before someone grabbed my shoulders and shouted “Hey there!” I turned around to see Sophie.
“Jeez, Sophie! You gave me the fright of my life!” I said while trying to slow my heart rate back down.
“Oh don’t be such a baby.” I just humphed and glared at her. I wasn’t a baby.
We grabbed some trays and stood in the queue. There was someone really tall in front of me so I couldn’t see what was being served. Ugh. I hate when that happens. “Excuse me, could you please-”
I was cut off by the beautiful god who turned to face me. “Oh hey, Lucy.” Alex greeted me with a warm smile. I couldn’t help but smile back. He just made me feel so tingly inside! “Sorry, was I blocking your view?” He said with nothing but concern. I just nodded feeling slightly embarrassed. “Well let me make it up to you. How about you sit with me and the guys today?” He said nodding towards a stream of good looking guys in front of him.
“Actually I was going to eat with…” I turned around to see Sophie frantically shaking her head.
“Don’t you dare make excuses, Lucy! You will sit with that boy no matter what!” Sophie whisper-shouted at me.
“Your friend can come too if she wants. We don’t mind.” Alex said with a wink. God I love it when he does that.
Sophie just nodded, beaming up at him. “Why thank you, we’d love too!”
I rolled my eyes at how goofy she was being. We proceeded to get lunch, which smelt amazing by the way, while Sophie chatted up Alex the whole time. I knew she was just trying to be a good friend but I couldn’t help the jealousy and bitterness I felt towards her. Why was I being like this?
We paid for our food and made our way towards the table of guys. Alex is the year above us so all his friends are older than us as well. Sophie was full of confidence as she sat down next to Dan, one of the hottest and most popular guys in school, and started flirting away with him. I just stood nervously behind Alex. However, he seemed to notice my hesitation and took my hand in his before pulling me along the other end of the table. He pulled out a chair for me and I couldn’t help but think how much of a gentleman he was. I smiled and sat down next to another hot guy whose name I didn’t know. He gave me a friendly smile before going back to joking with more of his hot-guy friends. Why were all good looking people always friends? Was it like some unwritten law?
Alex sat down next to me and introduced me to all his friends, “Hey guys, this is Lucy.”
A tanned blonde guy sitting across from me asked “You’re in the year below, right?”
“Yea,” I answered feeling my cheeks start to heat up slightly. I really hoped they didn’t tease me for being younger.
“Oh cool, my names Brian,” he said flashing me a perfect white smile. He was very good looking. Almost as good looking as Alex if that was even possible. I was practically undressing him with my eyes.
I heard someone clear their throat and turned to see Alex looking at me with those chocolate brown pools that I could just get lost in forever. “Yea?” I asked, my voice sounding awfully weak. Being surrounded by all these stunning, older guys must be throwing me off.
“I was just asking if we were still walking home together today.” Was that jealousy in his eyes?
“Oh yea sure, I’ll meet you at the gates.” I smiled before turning back to Brian.
“So Brian, how come I never see you around? Are you new as well?”
“Well no, I just spend a lot of my time in the gym. I’m quite a big rugby player.”
I raised my eyebrows and nodded my head. Not bad. I was starting to like this Brian guy. We continued to chat away for most of lunch. We had so much in common and he was actually a really nice and down to earth guy. Occasionally Alex would try and butt into our conversation; it was cute to see him acting jealous. Never in a million years would I have imagined that two hot guys would both want my attention.
But my fun was soon over and the bell rang. I pouted and Brian just laughed at me. “Awww.” I whined.
“Haha, don’t look so upset. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Yea, I guess…”
“Tell you what, how about you give me your number and I’ll talk to you tonight?”
I eagerly nodded and gave him my number without thinking twice about it. Alex just stared at us with a not too happy expression. “I better go to class; I’ll see you two later!” I called as I started running to class remembering I had a test now. Crap. I was so gonna fail.
“Bye!” They both called after me in unison.

I made it to class with time to spare. Thank God for that. I got out my pen and glasses and took my seat. I tried to mentally go over everything we’d learnt but it wasn’t very helpful. Mr Price started handing the papers out.
“Could everyone please put their name, my name, todays date and your class on the front. You have one hour and forty five minutes. The use of a calculator is allowed if necessary and remember this is to be done in under exam conditions so no talking. Good luck, you may begin.”
I heard everyone turning the page and I took a deep breath before opening my test. I read the first question and instantly relaxed. This didn’t look too hard…
But before I knew it, Mr Price was shouting “Five minutes left everyone. Try and finish up whatever question you’re on and remember to check all of your answers thoroughly.”
Shit! I still had a page worth of questions to answer. I started scribbling fiercely determined to finish the test. I would not let Mr Price have the satisfaction of mocking me for not finishing a basic test, he already teased me.
“Last minute everyone, make sure you make any final changes.” I was on the last question. My hand was hurting but I was going to finish. I only had one more sentence left to write. I was writing, and writing and… finished! Less than ten seconds later Mr Price was shouting that times up. I breathed a sigh of relief and handed him my paper.
The bell would be ringing in ten minutes or so, so I packed up my bag and took a quick nap on my desk. I was woken up by someone kicking my leg.
“Psst, Lucy! The bells about to ring, time to get up!” I heard Sarah whispering. Sarah sat next to me in Chemistry and always helped me out. I smiled and said thanks before putting my blazer on.
The bell went and I made my way out the main entrance. I looked around for Alex, searching the playground and the gates for any sign of him when two hands covered my eyes and a deep manly voice said from behind me. “Hey, sexy lady. Guess who?”
