Chapter 3 - Levi's Party
"HAYYY GURL YOU LOOK SEXAYY!!!" Lily shouted as I got in Zoey's car and sat down next to her and Kalea in the backseat.
"Lily!!! Shut up!!! And you guys look amazing. Especially you Kalea... Trying to look hot for Bennnn." I said in a sing-songy voice.
"What? It's a crime to wanna look good for my boyfriend?" She said as she winked at us.
"Well, seeing as you're the only one of us that has one... no. But it should be, with that dress..." Zoey said as she was driving, and laughed.
She was wearing a green sleeveless dress that came down to about six inches below her hips. Enough to catch any guy's attention.
Kalea has never been one to brag, but she always knows she looks good. She has a way of picking out clothes that fit her perfectly. I've always admired that about her.
"No but seriously... You look amaZayn." I said, and winked at her.
The entire car erupted with multiple "Ohh come on"s , "Really Kelly? Really?"s and "Uggghhh"s. But I just smiled.
Kalea has a pretty tragic backstory, one that brought us all closer together. Her mom died when she was 8, and her dad started drinking. He beat her all the time, bringing her close to death multiple times.
If it hadn't been for Lily, Zoey, and I, she probably wouldn't still be here. We told the police and stayed with her through it. Lily's parents had taken her in, and she still lives with them.
We were always so close after that, until about 6 months ago.
"If you guys are done with your little reunion, can we leave?" Emily said.
I hadn't even noticed she was there yet. Oops.
"Hello Emily." I said and smiled at her.
"Hi." She said.
Well that's that.
The conversation kind of varied on the way there. I had a hard time being interested because none of them would talk about One Direction... But I tried to be social anyway. (Wait, Social? What's that?)
Before I knew it we could see Levi's parent's cabin. We parked and walked toward the house.
"Hey girls! Looking very beautiful tonight, as always."
"Hey Brian." We all said as he let us in.
Brian, the poor sod who always got stuck with door duty. He's kind of known as the class clown I guess... But then again I'm like the class nerd... or at least I feel like that. I don't even know what I'm doing here.
Walking in I could see the place was already packed. Mostly people from school, along with - wait, was that the mascot? Dancing? Wow.
Shane, another guy from class, started talking to Zoey. So I headed for the drinks.
As I was pouring some of what was sure to be spiked punch, Levi waved at me and started walking over.
"Hey!!" He said.
"Hi! Is this the surprise?" I pointed to the punch.
"No... Although you shouldn't have some, not yet."
"Why?"
"Cause I'm going to take you to your surprise. Come with me."
Before I could respond he grabbed my arm and was pulling me outside.
I kept looking around trying to figure out where he could be taking me.
"Where are we going Levi??"
"There's another house that my parents own a little bit over here."
"Uhh... Okay... You're creepin' me out a bit ya know..."
"Yeah I know. But it'll all be worth it."
I probably should have mentioned it before but... Levi and I had been friends for a long time. We just grew apart, around 8th grade, he just stopped caring about me. I've still stayed his friend, but well, it's not the same.
I pulled my hand away and just stood there.
"Why the sudden surprise? And interest? You've hardly wanted to hang out in years." I said looking at the ground... "What's changed?"
"What do you mean?" He said.
"Umm... hello? You've hardly even given me a moments notice or thought in 4 years and now you're dragging me through the woods." I said looking at him intently.
"Will you just trust me? I'm not being creepy... And I think if you'd stop being so freaking careful you'd see. It's all for you." He said looking over at the house about 15 meters away.
"See what?"
He pointed to someone standing in the house with his back to the window, laughing.
I instantly knew EXACTLY who he was.
"HOLY SHIT." I said, blinking furiously, not believing my own eyes.
It was Zayn Malik.
