Manasvi and Lavanya faced each other with their divorce papers in hand. Their eyes were filled with tears, hearts racing and they reached to hold their hands for support. This was it. They were going to take that one step that will change their life forever.
"Are you both sure? There might be no way to reverse this later." The lawyer asked again as she saw the women unhappy and nervous with their decision.
"We can't go back, it's not safe for my daughter to return and my husband is unable to understand that." Manasvi wiped her tears and initiated by signing her papers first. She felt her daughter's hand rubbing her back for support. Then Lavanya signed the papers and they handed over them to the lawyer.
"Ok ladies, I will process this further and let's see how your husbands react. Whether they sign without a hitch or want to cause trouble." The women nodded and stood to leave the lawyer's office.
They walked hand in hand with heavy heart for what they had just done. It could have been avoided, the situation was solvable, only if the husbands understood their perspective and did not stay blinded with irrational facts.
