Skateboard felt at home when he was with Scythe, Broker, and Medkit. It's like he belonged there. He was accepted to be with them. Scythe would give him targets, but today seemed different. Most of the targets Scythe gave him, were strangers. Sometimes they looked familiar to him, or the name rang a bell in his head. Today, it was someone he knew, someone he cared for deeply.
"Oh, Skateboard!~" Scythe called out to him. Skateboard turned his head to look at Scythe, and ran up to her, wondering who his target was this time. Well, it was probably going to be a stranger, again, but he couldn't predict the future.
"Yes, Scythe?" He sighed and patiently waited for Scythe to give him his target. Then, he would be off on his way to do his job correctly and add more credit to his bounty. Anyways, Scythe seemed to be grinning a bit wider than normal as she thought of someone.
"Let's see how loyal you are~." She teased him. It left Skateboard puzzled. Who could possibly make him choose where his loyalties lie? I mean, probably no one. I don't think there's anyone I should be worried about targetting. He thought. "How about... Rocket?" She smirked and watched Skateboard's eyes go from relaxed to surprised in a second. Scythe was going to make Skateboard kill his lover. Oh, damn, she was evil. I mean, that's what Skateboard wanted in the first place when he came to her. It's his fault that he's about to get himself into trouble.
"W-what?" Skateboard asked Scythe to repeat the name for him again and leaned in closer to hear. His heart started pounding faster now, and he got anxious. No way she said Rocket, right?
"Rocket's yer target. I expect you to finish yer job by the end of the week." Scythe left Skateboard stunned. She went to talk to Medkit about something private, but Skateboard stared at the ground. Where did his loyalty end? Rocket or Scythe? Love or freedom? Wait, that sounded wrong. Skateboard couldn't make up his mind. All the memories of Rocket. He even killed someone for Rocket!
"Skateboard. Don't forget, just imagine Rocket's reaction when he realizes what you've been doing while you were on. Just think if he'd want to keep the relationship or not," Broker whispered with a smile on his face. Skateboard stared back at him. He was uncomfortable, but Broker was right. Rocket would probably not want to keep the relationship after he realized what he did. Maybe... maybe Broker was right. I mean, Rocket wouldn't forgive him for killing someone. Hell no! Of course not! Rocket was a nice and peaceful guy, and he was pretty nice, but he would never kill someone. He wouldn't have the guts to do it! Never.
"Awweh! Look, Slingshot!" Rocket pointed to cats that were trotting up to them. Rocket crouched, and started petting the cats. They purred as Rocket gently touched them. Slingshot turned his attention from picking up rocks to Rocket and the cats.
"Oh, Rocket...," Slingshot chuckled as he crouched down next to him and started petting the cats with him, too. Although, the cats seemed to like Slingshot more than Rocket. Slingshot studied Rocket's face, and he smiled even more. Cute... Shit! What am I saying!? Slingshot's face immediately turned red when he realized he found Rocket cute again. He tried to hide his face from Rocket, and he succeeded since Rocket was too focused on the cats.
"You remind me of a cat, too!" Rocket started patting Slingshot on the head, which made him blush even harder. He grabbed Rocket's wrist and set it on the ground. Embarrassed, Slingshot couldn't say anything to defend himself, which made Rocket giggle even more. "Sorry," He apologized. Slingshot nodded, forgiving him.
