Neither boy spoke as they walked back to the other demigods. Jack was absentmindedly twirling his staff, little sprouts of snow gently falling around him and Percy. Jack couldn't help but think that by having Percy and Jason go with him, they could defeat Pitch and rescue the Guardians without anyone getting hurt, and that's how Jack liked it. No one getting hurt because of them. Because of him.
But, as usual, there was that little voice of doubt in his head disagreeing with the whole plan in general.
This is a very bad idea, Jack thought as he and Percy continued to slowly trudge forward. Then again, was anything that they planned a good idea?
He still had the note Pitch had 'accidently' dropped in his place as he made his escape clutched tightly in his hand. So tight in fact, that it started to grow little icicles around the edges of the paper.
Jack hated the thought that Pitch had gotten to his new family. He hated it even more knowing that he hasn't even seen them or Jamie since the meeting a couple days ago. He practically felt useless that he couldn't help the ones he loved.
Yes, that was a little cheesy, but Jack didn't really care. The only thing he cared about right now was rescuing the Guardians. And Jack will not stoop until he knows that everyone he loves is safe and sound.
Jack glanced at the demigod beside him, who was off in his own world as well. Percy was a great kid, Jack thought. He barely knows me, but he's determined to help me. The thought made Jack smile a little. Then, Jack was hit with an idea.
He hid his mischievous grin and nudged the prince of the fishies in the ribs. When he felt Percy stare at him, Jack looked straight ahead and challenged, "Race you to the others?"
Percy slowly grinned back at him. "You're on, Frost."
"Three," Jack counted off. "Two-"
"One!" Percy shouted, taking off on a head start.
Jack shook his head and chuckled. He waited for a few seconds before flying after the sea-green eyed demigod.
"You're going down, Jackson," Jack said to himself, closing in on the sprinting son of Poseidon.
Jack was gaining speed as Percy was running. As soon as Jack was on Percy's tail, said demigod turned around to find Jack flying, back parallel to the ground.
"That's not fair," Percy gasped as he tried to run faster.
Jack smirked. "See you at the finish line, Jackson." And Jack flew past Percy, speeding up even more.
He reached the rest of the Seven in no time. Jack threw his fists in the air, flipping and landing on the tip top of his staff.
"The Guardian is the winner! I am the champion!" Jack shouted. He looked down to see the demigods staring up at him.
"What?" He asked defensively.
Annabeth looked like she wanted to say something, but then changed her mind and shook her head.
"So what did you and Percy talk about?" Leo asked.
The smile that Jack had melted off his face. He wasn't sure if he wanted the others to know about what Pitch had wrote to him.
Thankfully, Percy showed up to save him from answering. Jack was pretty sure that he knew that Percy heard the conversation that just took place, since he wasn't that far behind, but instead of talking about it, the prince of the horses turned to him and pointed at him.
"You cheated," Percy accused, changing the subject.
Jack was grateful that Percy switched the conversation on their race, so he raised his hands in defense. "Well, technically I didn't," he replied. "Never said anything about using powers."
Before Percy could fire back, Annabeth interrupted.
"What did you two talk about?" She repeated the question from earlier. The others glanced between the two boys.
Percy shot Jack a look that said I got this. "He just wanted to tell me that he had the letter from Pitch," he answered.
Jack wanted to face-palm at the stupidity that was Percy Jackson. Apparently, the others thought so too.
"We know Jack had the note," Jason replied. "We saw it in Jack's hand."
"Percy..." Annabeth warned, getting closer to Percy very slowly. "What did the two of you talk about?" Her stormy grey eyes were look like they were trying to say, Don't you even dare think about lying to me. Jack wasn't sure how Percy could not fear this girl.
"Okay fine," Percy complied. "The note was about Jack."
Jack's eyes grew big as he glared at the demigod. He couldn't believe that Percy would tell the others about the note. If he could shoot ice through his eyes, Percy would be a statue in less than a minute.
"It said that Jack shouldn't jump to conclusions," Percy lied. "And that he should've let me win the race." Then he shot an accusing glare at Jack.
Jack mentally sighed in relief. That was the most stupidest lie Jack might've ever heard, but right now, he didn't care.
Annabeth narrowed her eyes, but didn't push the subject. Everyone else seemed wary but they let it go.
Jack clapped his hands together as he jumped off his staff. "Well, if we're done here," he announced. "I highly suggest that we should get going. The rest of the campers might be worried that we haven't come back yet." The demigods agreed and headed back in the direction of the camp.
"Jason!" Jack called out to the blonde-haired demigod. Jason turned around to face Jack. "Can I talk to you for a second?" Jack asked.
The son of Jupiter nodded and headed towards him, after telling Piper something. Percy looked at Annabeth.
"I'll catch up with you in a second," Percy said. "Okay?"
"Okay," Annabeth studied him with suspicion in her eyes before nodding and kissed Percy before running to catch up with their friends.
"What's up?" Jason asked, when he approached Jack and Percy. Jack started to have second thoughts about the idea of Jason knowing of what was going on in Jack's world. He turned to Percy, who nodded to him in encouragement.
"Jason's a good guy," Percy promised. "He won't tell anyone."
Jason looked confused. "Won't tell anyone about what?" He asked.
Jack sighed and reached into his pocket, which was where he put the note from Pitch. He gave it to the son of Jupiter, who took it questioningly. He looked at the note, then up at the two waiting boys.
"Do I need to read it?" Jason asked.
Percy sighed. "You know, for someone who loves knowing stuff, you sir, are very slow."
Jason punched his friend in the arm. "Shut up." He then started to read what the letter had to say.
When he finished, he looked up at the two. Percy explained to him what they were planning to do.
"You can't be serious?" Jason questioned. Jack wasn't sure if he was offended that Jason didn't like the plan or the fact that Pitch captured his only family.
Before Jack could say anything, Jason continued. "I mean, he probably doesn't have them."
"Look," Jack was very close to exploding, you could hear the anger in his voice. "I know Pitch. I know what he's capable of. I know he has them."
Jason looked doubtful. "But how can you be sure?" He argued. "He could just try to lure you into his hideout or whatever."
"Guys..." Percy warned. But neither boy was paying attention.
"It could be a trap for all we know," Jason continued.
"They're my family, Jason," Jack quietly said. "I have to go help them."
Jason shook his head and rubbed his face with his hands. He glanced at Percy, who nodded.
"I'm going with him," Percy stated. "I only thought that maybe, with just the three of us, we could go rescue the Guardians and defeat Pitch and hopefully not get any more of our friends killed."
Jason closed his eyes and sighed. Jack had a feeling Jason knew what Percy was talking about, while Jack was left in the dark. "Percy..."
"No, Jason," Percy angrily interrupted. "It was my fault this happened. I wasn't fast enough to save Nico. Or Reyna. Or Sophie. Or Will. Or Gwen. Or Peter. Their deaths are on my hands."
Percy sighed and ran his fingers through his messy hair. "I figured that if I couldn't save them, I could at least save the rest of my friends." Percy sucked up a shaky breath and quickly blinked his eyes and looked away.
Both Jason and Jack were quiet for a moment. "Why me?" Jason finally broke. "Why not Frank, or Hazel, or Annabeth? She would've come up with something. I mean, she is the daughter of Athena for a reason."
Percy cleared his throat. "With all due respect to my scary girlfriend, that something would've involved waiting and planning. We just don't have that kind of time."
Jack nodded in agreement and stared Jason down, hoping that he would say yes. He thought that it would be better to have three people go instead of two, in case one of them got into trouble.
Jason met Jack and Percy's gaze. "You do realize that we're going to get into so much trouble for this, right?" He asked. Both Jack and Percy nodded. "And that our girlfriends are going to kill us, right?" This time, the question aimed at Percy directly. Percy nodded.
Jason sighed in defeat.
"So," he asked. "When do we leave?"

A/N:
Okay, you guys probably hate me right now. And I apologize for taking two months to update. I just caught up with Supernatural (which, for a quick story, my little sister likes to say Supernational instead of Supernatural and she's thirteen. I don't know why. I have to live with her), my summer reading project (which I didn't start until like the last week of summer), school and band practice. And everything else that I'm doing.
So, I'll it again. I AM SOOOOOO SORRY!!!!!
I'll try to update soon and hopefully it won't be as bad.
Oh, and I apologize for the rough chapter, I tried to fix it up as best as I could, but nonetheless, I'm sorry for that as well.
That's it for now. Later demigods!!!!!
