Dragonstone Pov
I was in the barn on the back of the truck bed while resting to regain my energy, Lapis was beside me as I tried to reach out to her but remembered how I hurt her making me withdraw my hand
Dragonstone: "How could I let the cluster influence me like that..." I face palm and groan while sitting up "What if it was the diamonds...would I have hurt Lapis or worse...shatter her?" I remember the countless gems I destroyed in the past "I never want to be that gem again." Lapis grabbed my arm and pulled me down
Lapis: "Somethings bothering you." She frowns "It was only an accident, so don't be worried."
Dragonstone: "Accidents don't involve attacking someone you care so much about due to your own weakness..." I turn away
Timeskip—next day
Barn
I was in the barn with Lapis and Peridot as Steven came in looking sad before running up to me and hugging my legs tightly
Steven: "Are you sure you're going to stay?! What if I'm too far away and you can't hear me?! What if I scream?" He teared up slightly
Dragonstone: I sighed before chuckling softly "You do know I'm just a fly away, right? Besides, Lapis and Peridot prefer it here, who am I to force them to live in my dark cavern at the temple?"
Steven: "Yeah...you're right..." he looked down before Dragonstone knelt down to him with a soft smile
Dragonstone: "I can make one promise though."
Steven: he looks up "What's that?"
Dragonstone: "I'll bring them over for sleepovers at the temple. And we'll do all the stuff you love, like watching, weeping dinner buddies."
Steven: he laughs "It's Crying Breakfast Friends." He smiles and sniffs "Okay! We can beach fun sleepovers!"
Lapis: "I'll make sure he keeps that promise, Steven." She laughs and flicks Dragonstone's ear
Dragonstone: "Hey, you make it sound like I'm lying to the boy." I smirk and cross my arms
Lapis: "Well, you do tend to stretch the truth a little." She plants a kiss on his cheek "Plus, we're gonna be real busy sometimes." She smiles
Peridot: she stands between the two and clears her throat "You two need to help me fix the the broken walls!" She points to the barn
Dragonstone: "Yeah, we'd better get to that before Peridot freaks out." I looked down at Peridot
Peridot: "I don't freak out!"
Lapis: "Yeah, she gets real bossy too." She frowns at Peridot
Peridot: "I'm not bossy!" She grumbles and storms off
Dragonstone: "Don't worry, she'll get used to it." I chuckle softly before we walked off into the barn. While I was busy helping peridot and lapis with repairs before I looked into the distance and thought I saw Jasper but it was just a bush blowing which looked like her flowing white hair and her build "That's strange..."
Lapis: she flew down to him "You okay? You're staring a lot."
Dragonstone: "Nothing...just...something on my mind." I feel a twinge of anger and hate in my chest 'I will find her eventually.'
Steven: "Have you guys seen lion?" He walked inside as they three gems looks at him in confusion
Peridot: "Weren't you supposed to be gone a long time ago?"
Steven: "Yeah, but I'll head back with lion later." He smiled before seeing Dragonstone "You okay? Is it because I told you I'd miss you? I didn't mean to make you feel bad!"
Dragonstone: "No! No it's...it's just I've got a lot to think about." I walked off "I think I just need some air."
Peridot: "We're gems, we don't need air to breathe." She says matter of fairly but Dragonstone kept walking while they all watched him sit by a cliff and stare into the distance
Steven: "I know what Dragonstone wants!" He said to the other two "He needs a vacation!"
Peridot: "Vacation?"
Steven: "Yeah! It's when you're really stressed out and tired of being in one place and doing the same stuff that you go somewhere new and do stuff you wanna do!"he smiles
Lapis: "Why would he need that? Doesn't he like protecting the earth?"
Steven: "Well, Amethyst says she gets tired of it sometimes and Dragonstone never complains so maybe he really wants one but doesn't know how to ask! Let's go!" He ran off with lapis to plan a vacation
Short Timeskip—afternoon
Barn
I was sitting and enjoying the breeze before someone tapped on my shoulder and I turned to see Steven with a chalk board that said "World Tour" while Lapis was wearing a flower necklace and lace skirt
Dragonstone: "What is this about?"
Lapis: blushes deeply "D-do you like it?"
Steven: "We're going on a vacation around the world!" He threw confetti into the air while Dragonstone stared with a deadpanned expression
Dragonstone: "Uh...sure...why do I need a vacation exactly?" I stood up and took the skirt and necklace off of Lapis "Did he force you to wear that?"
Lapis: "He said you'd like it..." she looked away shyly
Steven: "Come on! You know how you work a lot and how you're always protecting us from danger and dying and destruction, but now, it's time for you to relax!" He smiles broadly
Dragonstone: "But I don't need to relax. I'm perfectly content with everything as it is." I cross my arms
Steven: "Well you're getting one anyway, now, turn int a super cool dragon!" Dragonstone sighs before transforming into his giant dragon form allowing Steven to climb on as he took flight and Lapis flew beside them
Dragonstone: "I don't see the point in flying across the world, it wouldn't take that long." I soared in the air while Lapis flew beside me
Lapis: "It sounds like a nice opportunity to spend some time together." She chuckled while they flew through the air and came over an ocean and flew over an island
Steven: "What about there? There's some water for Lapis and you can relax on the beach all day!" Dragonstone growls
Dragonstone: "You forget I was under the ocean for months and then destroyed half an island?" I said with slight annoyance
Steven: "Okay, no coastal vacation then." They kept flying for a while and breached the clouds to see a large bright city "What about here?! You can go on a tour of the city and eat all kinds of food and stay in a fancy hotel and go shopping!"
Dragonstone: "I'm not sure how a giant dragon would live in a city, and also, I can't guarantee I won't destroy nearly everything with my strength." I huff while flying
Lapis: "Also, I don't think being around humans is good for Dragonstone, we wouldn't want any accidents." She says worriedly
Steven: "Okay, no city vacation then." They flew some more and came over an icy mountain "Okay, you have to like this! A nice lodge resort! You can go snowboarding, Skiing and even make snow angels, then at the end of the day you can hunker down in a nice wood cabin by a fire with a cup of hot cocoa!"
Dragonstone: "I can't snowboard, ski, nor do I make snow angels." I sigh while flying "I also don't need to drink fluids or sit by flames for heat."
Lapis: she chuckles "Steven, it's nice of you to do this, but I don't think Dragonstone wants a vacation."
Dragonstone: "Nor do I need one. It would be a waste of time I could be focusing on important things like ensuring our safety." I continue flying
Steven: "Aww...but what about you? You can't work ALL the time." He looks saddened before Dragonstone chuckles and changes directions higher into the sky "Wooaaahhh!" Dragonstone burst out above the clouds and came to the beautiful sea of fluffy white clouds with the sun and the pinkish orange sky
Dragonstone: "Tell me, why do you want me to take a vacation so bad?" Lapis flew up beside us
Steven: he looks away with rosy cheeks "You always help us and do things we want or need you to, but you never do things for yourself."
Dragonstone: I chuckle softly "Steven."
Steven: pouty tone "Yes?"
Dragonstone: "You do know the reason I do those things is because I like to help you all?" I barrel roll sending Steven off my back
Steven: "Whooooaaa!" Lapis catches him in a bridal style hold and flies with him while Dragonstone flies up ahead and dives into the clouds before reappearing causing the clouds to crackle with a red electricity before Lapis threw him up "Not again!"
Dragonstone: "Don't worry, I've got you." I flew under him and he landed on my back as lapis manipulated the clouds to form into Steven while the electricity struck red lighting from it making a star shape in the Steven cloud
Steven: "Woah! It's me, with my shirt!" He laughs as they fly through the cloud and make it disperse into smaller pats while they soar down below the clouds and Dragonstone goes closer to the water
Dragonstone: "The thing about me, Steven, you are my friend and my top priority, you, Garnet, Pearl, Amethyst, Lapis and even Peridot are the things in my existence I'd never want to lose."
Steven: "Really?" He crawls to the edge of Dragonstone's body and put his hand in the water as it splashed before Lapis manipulated the water making small spouts fly over Dragonstone "Whoa...."
Dragonstone: "That's exactly right. I don't need a vacation because being around you all and helping all of you is someone I see as a vacation because it's something I love doing." I fly up and lapis flies beside me
Lapis: "As that the only thing you love?" She smiles as Dragonstone swung Steven up into the air
Dragonstone: "As if." Me and lapis spiralled around one another in the air before our bodies morphed together and formed Malachite
Malachite: "But you are the one thing I love more than helping my friends." They laughed before Steven came falling down while chuckling
Steven: "Catch me Malachite!" He opened his arms as the fusion suddenly glowed brightly and took on a draconic form
Malachite: they opened their talons "I've got you."
Steven: "Malachite! You can change like, Goldstone?!" His eyes turn to stars as he smiles
Malachite: they speak in a deep growling but caring voice "Yes." They chuckle "It's thanks to Dragonstone, but what d you think? I'm not too scary, right?" They lick Steven
Steven: he laughs "Of course not! You guys look so cool!" He wipes his face before the draconic fusion flies off with high speeds over the ocean as the very water surfaces freezes beneath them and Steven's lips and cheeks blow back from the velocity
Malachite: "We liked what you did for us, Steven. Thank you a lot." They chuckle as Steven shows a thumbs up and not long after they arrived back at the barn at night with a heavy crash as they gently place Steven on the ground
Steven: "That was incredible!" Peridot came running out the barn
Peridot: "Steven what wa-Whaaaaats that!" She hides behind Steven while looking up at dragon Malachite
Steven: "It's just Malachite."
Malachite: "Hello, Peridot." They chuckle before reverting back to humanoid form and then unfusing into the two gems who broke from their kiss as Steven covered his eyes and peridot blushed
Peridot: "That was incredibly inappropriate!" She yells while the two gems turn to them
Lapis: "Well, we couldn't help it." She chuckles
Dragonstone: "We got a little carried away with being together." I walked over to Steven as he uncovered his eyes and I put a hand on his shoulder "Thank you, but it's time you go home." I transformed into my dragon form and lifted him onto my back with my tail
Steven: "Aww, man!" He sighs as Dragonstone takes off and flies toward the temple in the far distance
Lapis: "See you Steven!" She waves "And thank you for the day!"
Peridot: "Wait! What happened without me?!"
