All's Fair in Love and war

It was made explicit to follow the rules.
Illicit love fails the same way as fools.
Shots on the battlefield, the stab of a knife
Love is the same as war, through battle or strife.
Black as a dove
White as a crow
But for all they know,
It's all the same.
It's always pain.
screaming out into the night full of sorrow full of fright, holding the hands of a lifeless friend,
tears shed down their faces, yet in the end,
when you hide the key and lock the door
I reckon it's all the same when all's fair in love and war.
