"This is what I get for talking shit" Grace said as she walked into my bedroom and handed me the pregnancy test I gave her
I sat up and damn near choked when I seen the word Pregnant in big bold letters
"Oh my go-"
"I know!" She whined as she plopped down next to me
"What are you gonna do?" I asked
"I don't know...I can't...how am I supposed to work once I get fat?" She groaned
Really? That's what she's worried about
"They have maternity clothes you could model for" I said as I shook my head
"What about-"
"How about you schedule a doctors appointment to confirm that you're even pregnant first..then you complain later" I said
"You complained first" she scoffed
"I did." I nodded
"I don't wanna be big Cleo" Grace said as she stood up
"So what are you gonna do?" I asked
You'd think her weight would be the last thing on her mind but it wasn't
"I don't know." She sighed
"I think you should talk to king and get an understanding of where his head is at"
"What if we don't see eye to eye?" She asked
"Then you guys have to come to some sort of understanding; it's not only you that this is happening to"
"What if you WERE pregnant?" She asked
"Well I'd just be pregnant" I giggled
"You wouldn't be scared?" She asked
"So you're scared?" I asked avoiding her question
"That's not what I asked" Grace huffed
"Yes I'd be scared. having a child is scary but I wouldn't be raised the baby alone. Jayson's already an amazing father so I have no doubt that our child would be loved just the same" I shrugged
"I don't think me and king have been together long enough for a child" Grace admitted
"That's why you guys need to talk. I haven't been with Jayson that long but I'm secure in my relationship and I know something like that wouldn't break us..my main concern was his career. Juggling one child and a basketball career is already a handful; I didn't wanna add onto the stress" I shrugged
"What if I'm not a good mom?" She asked
"Grace, there's no way that could be remotely possible. You also have friends and family who will always be here to catch you if you fall" I reassured her
"You're right, I just need to talk to king" she nodded
We talked and lazed around until it was time to pick up Deuce
"I'm nervous" Grace said as we walked to the car
"Why?"
"This is the first time actually being around your kid for a long period of time" she replied
"What? He was at Jayson's party" I laughed
"Yeah but he was running around with Tori and a bunch of other people. I didn't have to actually talk to him"
"He a kid, he's not hard to communicate with at all" I laughed
"What's his name again?" She asked
"Deuce" I said as we got into the car
"No the real one"
"Oh, it's Jayson" I laughed
"He's a jr?!" She asked completely shocked
I nodded
"Tori said his name was supposed to be something else but once he was born Jay took one look at him and changed his mind" I smiled as I started the car
The story was so cute to me
"What if he doesn't like me?"
"Grace he's 6" I replied
"Well you consider him your child and your child would be my nephew..I think it matters if my nephew likes me or not" she ranted
I just shook my head and backed out of the driveway
The entire way to Tori's grace asked me questions about motherhood
I could only give her advice on the things I've learned in the short time frame but I told her that her best bet was Tori since she's the only one of us who has actually had to birth a child
I texted Tori once I pulled up outside and she brought Deuce out
"I gotta warn you, I gave him candy" Tori said as she helped him into his booster seat
"We've got a hour to make it to the stadium; I think he might be cool by then" I nodded
BOY WAS THAT A LIE!
"Come here and let me tie your shoe" I said as Deuce ran back and forth on the court
The game doesn't start for another 30 minutes so he's been running around since we got here
"I need you to shake the sillies out before daddy gets on this court" I said as I tied his shoe
"Okay" was all he said before running off again
"What was in that candy?" Grace asked lowly
It was clear that she was talking to herself but when I looked over at her she had a look of horror on her face
All I could do was laugh
"Um" she said as she pointed to Deuce
"Wha- JAYSON!" I groaned
He was spinning on the floor in his fresh white Tee
"Yes?" He asked running over to me
"Look at your shirt" I said as I pointed out all the dirt and dust that was now on it
He shrugged before running off again
"I don't want a son" Grace said as she shook her head
"Well you don't get a choice and having a son is fun" I smiled
"Oh really? Yours is all dirty" she said as she pointed to Deuce who was somehow even more dirty than before
I just shook my head and texted Jay asking if Deuce had a hoodie in the locker room
All he said was yeah..
I assumed he was busy and couldn't really text so I called Jaylen
"Yo" he said as he answered the phone
"Hey, can you do me a favor if you're not too busy?" I asked
"Yeah wassup, We're just back here talking and shit, the game doesn't start for another 15 minutes" he replied
"Can you go to Deuce's cubby and bring me his hoodie?" I asked
"You're here already?!"
"Yeah, My house is 30 minutes away from Tori's and Tori's is an hour away from the stadium. It was either be late or be early; I chose early" I explained
"Grace is with you?" He asked
"Can you stop asking me questions and bring me my son's damn hoodie?"
"Damn, okay" he said before hanging up
Great now I feel bad
"Deuce?!" I called out
"When Jaylen brings your hoodie out we're gonna go to the bathroom to get changed before the game starts, okay?"
I watched as he nodded
"Seems stressful. i don't like it" Grace pointed out
"If you weren't pregnant I'd slap the fuck outta you right now" I said as I faced her
He eyes went wide as she looked up
Damn I didn't even see him standing there
"Who's pregnant?" Jayson asked as he handed over Deuce's hoodie
Grace pointed to me so I took her fingers and bent them backwards
"Ow!" She said as she yanked her hand back
"Deuce, come on" I said before standing up and walking past Jay
"That really hurt!" Grace called out
"Good!" I said back
"I'm pregnant but your wife is violent" I heard her say to Jay
He just laughed as I walked away with Deuce
This was gonna be a long day
