The scene opens up to show the students lined up in the auditorium.
"Ruby over here! I saved you a spot!" Yang yells out to Ruby as she waves at her.
"Oh! Hey, I gotta go! I'll see you after the ceremony!" Ruby says to Jaune as she goes to her sister.
"Hey, wait! Great. Where am I supposed to find another nice, quirky girl to talk to?" Jaune says as he walks away with a girl with red hair watching him.
"How's your first day going, little sister?" Yang asks Ruby
"You mean since you ditched me and I exploded!?" Ruby says as she crosses her arms and glares at Yang
"Yikes. Meltdown already?" Yang asks
"No, I literally exploded a hole in front of the school... there was a fire... and I think some ice." Ruby says
"... Are you being sarcastic?" Yang asks in a teasing voice.
"Ugh, I wish! I tripped over some crabby girl's luggage! And then she yelled at me! And then I sneezed. And then I exploded! And then she yelled again! And I felt really, really bad! And I just wanted her to stop yelling at me!" Ruby says as Weiss is seen behind her.
"You!" Weiss yells as Ruby jumps into Yang's arms.
"Oh god, it's happening again!" Ruby says
"You're lucky we weren't blown off the side of the cliff!" Weiss says
"Oh my god, you really exploded." Yang says surprised
"It was a accident! It was an accident! What's this?" Ruby says as Weiss holds up a paper to her.
"The Schnee Dust Company is not responsible for any injuries or damages sustained while operating a Schnee Dust Company product. Although not mandatory, the Schnee Family encourages their customers to read and familiarize themselves with this easy-to-follow guide to Dust application and practice in the field." Weiss says as Ruby zones out to her talking.
"Uhhh..." Ruby says
"You really want to start making things up to me?" Weiss asks
"Absolutely!" Ruby says
"Read this and don't ever speak to me again." Weiss says
"Look, uh... It sounds like you two got off on the wrong foot!" Why don't you just start over and try to be friends, okay?" Yang asks Weiss
"Yeah! Great idea, Sis! Hello, Weiss! I'm Ruby! Want to hang out? We can go shopping for school supplies!" Ruby asks as she holds her hand out for Weiss to shake.
"Yeah, and we can paint our nails, and try on clothes, and talk about cute boys like tall, handsome, beanie-wearing, and muscles over there!" Weiss says as she points to (M/N)
"Oh wow, really?" Ruby says excitedly.
"NO." Weiss says
"Sis I think that Schnee girl just called me handsome." (M/N) says while raising his eyebrows.
"You're a dork." Blake says rolling her eyes as (M/N) laughs
"Ahem... I'll keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge. To hone your craft and acquire new skills. And when you have finished you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you and all I see is wasted energy in need of purpose, direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step." Ozpin says as he walks away and Glynda takes his place.
"You will gather in the ballroom tonight. Tomorrow your initiation begins. Be ready. You are dismissed." Glynda says
"He seemed kind of off." Yang says
"It's almost like he wasn't even there." Ruby says
"I don't wear a beanie by the way I'm a natural blond, you know." Jaune says as he thought Weiss was talking about him.
The scene changes to show the ballroom as everyone gets ready for bed.
"It's like a big slumber party!" Yang yells out as she lays down next to Ruby.
"I don't think Dad would approve of all the boys, though." Ruby says as she continues to write her note.
"I know I do. What's that?" Yang says as she watches all the boys flex their muscles. Jaune walks past and grins at her as she looks away as he was wearing embarrassing pajamas.
"A letter to the gang back in Signal. I promised to tell them all about Beacon and how things are going." Ruby says
"Aww, that's so cuuuuute!!!!" Yang says as Ruby throws a pillow at her.
"Shut up! I didn't get to take my friends with me to school. It's weird not knowing anyone here." Ruby says saddened
"What about Jaune? He's... nice! There you go! Plus one friend! That's a 100 percent increase!" Yang says
"I'm pretty sure Weiss counts as a 'negative friend'. Back to zero." Ruby says
"There's no such thing as a 'negative friends'! You just made one friend and one enemy! Look, it's only been one day. Trust me, you've got friends all around you. You just haven't met them yet." Yang says as Ruby throws another pillow at her.
A candle is lit as Ruby and Yang look over and see Blake reading her book and (M/N) reading with her but trying to flip the page as he was a fast reader. Blake smacks his hand as he holds it and continues to read with her.
"That girl and boy..." Ruby says
"You know them?" Yang asks
"Not really... they say what happened this morning, but left before I could say anything." Ruby says
"Well, now's your chance!" Yang says as she gets up and grabs Ruby's arm pulling her with her.
"Hey! Wait what are you doing?" Ruby says as Yang drags her to Blake and (M/N). (M/N) gets up and goes to the bathroom as he watches the two girls walk towards his sister.
"Hellooooo! I believe you two may know each other!" Yang says
"Aren't you that girl that exploded?" Blake asks
"Uhh, yeah my name's Ruby. But you can just call me... crater... actually, you can just call me Ruby." Ruby says
"Okay." Blake says as she goes back to reading her book.
"What are you doing?" Yang whispers to Ruby
"I don't know, help me!" Ruby whispers back
"So... what's your and your friend's name?" Yang asks
"Blake and he isn't my friend he is my brother." Blake says
"Well, Blake, I'm Yang! Ruby's older sister!... I like your bow!" Yang says
"Thanks." Blake says
"It goes great with your... Pajamas!" Yang says
"Right..." Blake says
"Nice night don't you think?" Yang asks
"Yes. It's lovely. Almost as lovely as this book... that I will continue to read... as soon as you leave." Blake says
"Yeah, this girl's a lost cause." Yang says
"What's it about?" Ruby asks
"Huh?" Blake says in surprise.
"Your book. Does it have a name?" Ruby asks
"It's about a man with two souls Yada Yada they fight each other and all that." (M/N) says as all Yang and Ruby jump in surprise at his height and his voice.
"(M/N) really you know it's more than that." Blake says
"I was just summing it up before you go into one of your book rants again. Trust me you don't want her to do that it is agonizing." (M/N) says as Blake bonks him on the head as Yang and Ruby giggle a bit.
"I love books Yang used to read to me every night before bed. Stories of heroes and monsters... they're one of the reasons I want to become a Huntress." Ruby says
"Why is that? Do you think you're gonna live happily ever after?" (M/N) asks
"I'm hoping we all will as a girl, I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books someone who fought for what was right, and who protected people who couldn't protect themselves." Ruby says
"That's very ambitious for a child, unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale." Blake says
"Yeah me and my sis have seen some pretty nasty things out there." (M/N) says as Blake pats him on the head
"Well, that's why we're here to make it better." Ruby says as she smiles.
"Oh, I'm so proud of my baby sister!" Yang says as she picks Ruby up
"Cut it out!" As Ruby punches Yang as a dust cloud forms with Yang and Ruby fighting in it. (M/N) backs away slightly as he watches the fight.
"Well, Ruby, Yang it's been a pleasure." Blake says as she is cut off by someone
"What in the world is going on over here don't you realize some of us are trying to sleep!?" Weiss says as she realizes who she is talking to
"Oh no not you again!" Both Weiss and Yang say at the same time
"Shh guys, she's right people are trying to sleep!" Ruby says
"Oh, now you're on my side." Weiss says
"I was always on your side!" Ruby says to Weiss
"Yeah, what's your problem with my sister she's only trying to be nice!?" Yang asks Weiss
"She's a hazard to my health!" Weiss says
"Oh, aren't you that pretty girl from this morning." (M/N) asks as Weiss blushes.
"Who are you to call me--." Weiss says as she looks at (M/N) and keeps staring at his face as she blushes even more before shaking her head and walking away.
"That was weird." Ruby says
"Yeah very weird." (M/N) says as he lays Down on his sleeping bag.
Blake blows out the candle as the scene goes black.
