Kate's POV:
~I couldn't believe they didn't realize I was in my room~ As I opened my door to go and see where Bob was, I saw something across the hall, and I fell to the ground. I guess Ray and Frank heard me because they went out of the room and saw I was on the ground and asked what happened. I told them I saw something, and they asked," Are you okay, do you need help up ??" Frank came to my side and asked, " What did you see that scared you so bad that you fell??
" I-I saw a ghost I think." I respond as I get back up. " What kind of ghost was it?? was it like an apparition or was it something else??" Ray chimed in with. I sigh and look at them as I tell them" It was like an apparition, only it seemed to look like a child?" When I tell them their faces look as though they had something they needed to tell me. "What? Why are you looking at each other like you know something that I don't?" I ask as I grow more confused by the second. I look at Ray then back to Frank as I try to decipher what the hell it is they know that I don't.
Frank looks at me and answers my question. " Well um... you see, this place...its uhm..." He pauses then looks to Ray as if to say help me. Ray speaks up. " This place is hunted Kate." He says bluntly. I look at both of them like a dear in headlights." Excuse me... what? Come again??" Frank looks at Ray then back to me. "You know how when we got here you felt ...off about the place?" he asked me. "Yeah?" I respond in an almost confused tone. "Thats because apparently you are more sensitive to these things." Ray tells me.
I sigh " I mean I have been feeling a bit off lately." I look at them both then back to were I saw the apparition. They notice and look in the same spot then back to me. Frank looks back to me then asks " Do you want to talk to Gerard, or do you want to stay here and be scared?" I snap out of it and look at Frank. I sigh " I would like to talk to him but ... what if he thinks I'm crazy??" I say looking up at them with a worried expression.
They look at each other then back to me and start to laugh. Ray looks at me and says " Kate .... since when would Gerard think you're crazy for seeing something?? If you told him he would be sad that HE didn't see it." He sighs. " I know where you're coming from though so don't worry... just tell him ok??" I look up at Ray and sigh. "Okay." I agree with him.
"Do you think I should tell him right now or should I wait to tell him??" I ask them. They both look at me and Frank puts his hand on my shoulder. He sighs then says " Kate... do you think that if I saw something I would wait to tell Gerard??" I sigh and nod my head no. "You would do the opposite and would tell him right away." I look up to Frank and he gave me a look that said "Of course I'm right, I'm always right so you should listen to me. "
I look at Ray and he looks at me with the same look. "Should I go tell him right now??" I ask wanting to know if I should not knowing what to do in this situation. He sighs as he looks down at me. "I think you should go tell him and Frank agrees with me on that.... isn't that right Frank?" He says as he gets Franks attention. "Oh, uhm yeah that's right.... you should definitely go and tell him he is a nerd for stuff like that you know this Kate.... so why are you doubting it??" I sigh "Yeah, I guess I just stopped thinking....is this what you feel like frank?? " I say as a joke but still kind of wanting to see what he says.
He looks at me and quickly puts his hand to his heart and acts fake offended as if I just insulted his mother. "How dare you say that ...I'm smart just like the rest of you" He huffs out towards me. "Says the one who pulled a door that said push." I quickly say back. As soon as I said it Ray busted out laughing and I started laughing too. " You're a bully you know that?? I'm going to tell Bob on you and get you in trouble." Frank says as he goes downstairs to tell on me. I laugh and sarcastically say " Oh no.... please don't go tell on me I beg of you ...please don't tell Bob what I said. " He continues to walk down the stairs and to where Bob is.
Frank's POV:
I finally get downstairs and go to the living room and spot Bob sitting down. I go over to him, and he looks at me as if to say "What is it?" I sigh and tell him what happened. "Kate made fun of me and called me stupid." I tell him. Bob laughs a bit and says, " Well you did pull a door with the word push on it....and in big letters too.... so, I don't blame her." I sigh " Why am I not surprised to hear this?" I get up and turn to go to get some water from the kitchen and as I turn around, I see Kate and Ray. I jump and move to the side, out of the way. "Both of you scared the shit out of me... the two of you should wear bells so I can hear where you are at all times."
They laugh and go to the living room. I get my glass of water and go back to the living room. I see Kate talking to Gerard probably about what see saw earlier. And Mikey talking with Ray about comics and what horror movie to watch next. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves here and its very nice. As I sat down, I noticed that all of our stomachs were hungry and that we all wanted food.
"Who's up for pizza and a movie?" Kate says as she looks around to see if anyone agrees with what she just said. We all raise are hand to say yes and she had Bob order the pizza.
Ray's POV:
"So now that we have the food situated.... what should we watch?" I say as I sigh and look to Gerard. Gerard and Mikey look at each other then back at me with a big smile on their faces then proceed to tell me that they want to watch "The Crow" I look at them and question " The Crow?? Thats the movie you both want to watch." They both look at me like I'm crazy for questioning them.
They put the movie on and after a bit the pizza gets here. I get the pizza and each one of them gets two slices. As we sit down and eat, I notice that Kate seems off. she doesn't seem like her normal self. As the movie gets closer to the end Kate seems more offput than usual. Mikey tries to get Bobs attention, but he is in his own little world.
Mikey's POV:
I have been trying to get Bobs attention for the past five minutes. Does he seriously not pay any attention to anyone when he is watching something? Jeez. I look to Gerard and he is talking to Kate about something probably related to comics or ghosts and stuff.
"Hey Bob, can I talk to you?" I ask with anticipation in my voice. "Yeah, what do you want?" He sighed as he responded. I take a deep breath. "Well, it's about Kate." He looked at me " What about her? Have you also noticed that she has been off lately too??" I sigh with relief as he has also noticed that she has been off lately. " Yeah, that's actually what I wanted to talk about." He looks at me then pauses before saying" What specifically did you want to discuss about her odd behavior?"
I look to the floor then back up to you. "She didn't want to help in picking a movie or in picking what kind of toppings go on the pizza like usual. I think something is seriously wrong and maybe you should talk to her about it, maybe see what is up or if anything is wrong or if we are just playing way too much into this." I sigh as I finish my sentence. " Yeah, I'll go talk to her .... see what's up." He says as he gets up and walk's over to where she is.
Kate's POV:
As I was talking to Gerard about what I saw earlier I see Bob walking over in my direction. I think nothing of it and end my conversation with Gerard and get up. I start to walk to the door seen as I need to get out of the house for a bit. As I get to the door, I can hear his footsteps following me outside. As soon as I get out the door and step outside I feel better. A minute later Bob comes out the door and sits next to me.
"Are you okay kit kat? " My brother askes me. With a sigh I reply with" Must you call me that name big brother?? and no, I'm not o-fucking-kay." I can hear him laugh at my response then he looks at me and asks, " Why are you not okay ...honestly, because I promised mom that I would make sure you would be alright." I take a deep breath and say, " My mind is playing tricks on me, like .... I saw something and I'm not sure if it was just my mind or if it was real, but it scared me."
He looks at me and askes" Are you serious??" I look at him and reply, " Well no shit sherlock." He looks at me with a stern face. " Watch your mouth little missy" I laugh." and how do you suggest I do that?" He huffs. "You know what I meant don't be a smartass." " Wow I'm telling mom you said that next time I call her" I s ay as I get up and walk to a tree. " I'm sure you will Katie."
I turn around and look at Bob. " How dare you think I won't do what I said." He laughs a bit. "Well, I mean was I supposed to believe you?" " Well yeah .... that was the idea." I say as I start to laugh a bit too. He follows me to the tree and I see a semi-secret trail that we end up going down.
"Hey Bob?" I ask to see if he is still behind me or if I lost him. "Yes?" He asks wanting to know why I said his name. I relax a bit. " I was just checking that I didn't lose you". He laughs a bit. "that's my job Kate." " yeah right and you get paid for it to." I scoff.
we finally get to the end of the trail and there is a path of dead roses on the ground. The dead roses lead us to a graveyard. There was one gravestone that caught my eye. It was a beautiful gravestone with an angel on it. It had the name "Emily Montego" Engraved on it and covered in moss.
I walk over to get a better look. The date on the grave says from 19990 - 2003. I look at Bob and call him over. " Bob come here .... look at this." He walks over to me and looks at the grave. "What?" "Look at the years." I tell him. "What about them?" He asks me confused as always. "She died young ... she was only 12 years old." I say with a sad face. I look back at the grave and see that me and Emily have the same birthday. I get excited. "Bob, look we have the same birthday May 4th." He looks at it then takes a picture of it. "Why did you take a picture of it?" I ask ... wanting to know why. He sighs. " I took a picture to show the others."
"Speaking of which we should probably be heading back to the others." he tells me. " Oh really? Is it that late?" I ask. He turns to look at me. " No not late we have just been gone for a while they might think something happened to us" He explains to me. " To us?? Or to me?? Because you would be just fine if I left you be yourself." I joke. He looks at me with a "wtf did you just say" kind of face. "You're not thinking of leaving me here alone, are you??"
"Well... the thought did come across my mind a few times." I say as I try my best not to laugh. He immediately looks at me with a " WTF" face. " How many is a few times?" " Like at least ten times." He looks at with the same face. " Kate what the fuck." he says to me as we start to walk out and back to the others I stop and say goodbye first then run to Bob.
As we walk we talk about who misses mom more and how we want BBQ this Friday. "I can't believe that trail was hidden in plain sight." I say to Bob. " Yeah it was a nice spot."
