Songs and sagas of a fate determined

〰〰〰𖠳 〰〰〰

"𝕋𝕆𝔻𝔸𝕐 is about teamwork," Gobber declared as the metal doors burst open, engulfing them in a cloud of green smoke. Amidst the haze, Frida found herself paired with Ruffnut, while Astor was teamed up with Fishlegs, and Snotlout was stuck with Tuffnut. Each pair held a bucket of water, ready for the challenge ahead. "Now, a wet dragon head can't light its fire," Gobber continued, his voice cutting through the fog. "The Hideous Zippleback is extra tricky. One head breathes gas, the other head lights it. Your job is to know which is which."

As they strained to listen for any signs of the dragons, Fishlegs couldn't help but recite facts about the creature. "Razor-sharp serrated teeth that inject venom for pre-digestion. Prefers ambush attack, crushing its victims..." Astor couldn't bear it any longer. "Will you please stop that?!" he whispered sharply.

Meanwhile, Snotlout was deep in conversation with Tuffnut. "If that dragon shows either of his faces, I'm gonna-" His words were cut off by a sudden movement, mistaking Ruffnut's shadow for the dragon. "There!" he exclaimed, splashing water in Frida and Ruffnut's direction as the smoke cleared, revealing their mistake.

"Hey, it's us, idiots!" Ruffnut exclaimed, her annoyance clear. Tuffnut chimed in with a snicker, "Your butts are getting bigger, we thought you were a dragon." Snotlout, trying to smooth things over, looked at Frida with a wink. "Not that there's anything wrong with a dragonesque figure," he joked, earning himself a punch in the face from Astor who heard everything. Ruffnut seized the opportunity to retaliate, hurling her bucket at her brother and knocking him down, but before they could react, Tuffnut was dragged into the smoke, disappearing from sight. "Wait," Astor called out to Ruffnut before swiftly grabbing his bucket. But before he could make a move, the dragon's tail tripped them, sending them tumbling to the ground. Tuffnut dashed past, holding his nose and feigning injury. "Oh, I'm hurt! I am very much hurt!" he cried out, leaving a bewildered trail behind him.

As Frida and Fishlegs stood alone, facing the menacing dragon heads, Fishlegs muttered, "Chances of survival are dwindling to single digits now." Suddenly, one of the dragon's heads lunged towards them, and Fishlegs splashed water on its head in a panicked attempt. But as the dragon opened its mouth, revealing the wrong head, Fishlegs nervously chuckled, "Oh, wrong head." His mistake was quickly punished as the dragon shot a stream of fire at him, prompting Gobber to shout, "Fishlegs!"

With Fishlegs fleeing, Frida found herself facing the dragon alone as the other appeared. "Now, Frida!" Gobber said as she tossed her water bucket, but it fell short, eliciting a frustrated sigh from her, "Oh, come one." As the dragon prepared to attack, Gobber began to run to her aid, shouting her name. "Frida!" However, he stopped short as he watched in astonishment. Frida, undeterred, rose from the ground and bravely approached the dragon with outstretched hands, commanding, "Back, back, back! Now don't make me ask again!"

The group looked on in disbelief as the dragon hesitated, gradually backing away from Frida as she continued to assert her dominance. With confidence radiating from her, Frida successfully herded the dragon back towards its cage. Gothi observed from a distance as Frida, victorious, scolded the dragon sternly, "Back into your cage. Now think about what you've done." With a final authoritative move, she revealed the eel hidden beneath her fur vest, the true reason for the dragon's retreat, before tossing it into the cage.

Frida closed the doors of the cage behind her, locking them securely. Turning around, she was met with the stunned gazes of the group and Gobber, who seemed to be in disbelief at what had just transpired. Clearing her throat, Frida addressed them, "Okay, so are we done here? 'Cause I've got some things I need to..." She trailed off, realizing she had no further explanation. "Yep, I'll see you tomorrow!" With that, Frida hastily made her exit, running off to her workshop where she resumed crafting a saddle for herself, leaving the others still processing the unexpected turn of events. As Frida lifted the saddle, revealing it to Toothless, the dragon immediately went into a playful stance, darting away from her with a mischievous glint in his eye. Laughing, Frida chased after him, managing to catch up and successfully secure the saddle onto his back. With a triumphant grin, she mounted Toothless, ready to take flight.

As they soared above the water, Frida excitedly pulled the string attached to the wing, but her enthusiasm caused her to yank it too hard. Toothless tumbled, and they both plunged into the water below. Determined to improve their flight, Frida spent the night crafting an attachment hook and harness to help her stay secure in the saddle.

The following morning, they took to the skies again, with Frida holding onto the rope attached to the wing mechanism. However, as she pulled it, the mechanism failed, causing them to plummet down into a grassy meadow below.

Shaken but unharmed, Frida stumbled slightly before turning to see Toothless sprawled out on the grass, clearly enjoying the sensation. Chuckling, she picked up a handful of grass and examining it thoughtfully.

The following day at dragon training, Frida found herself lost in thought as she examined a handful of grass. Suddenly, a Gronckle swooped down towards her, prompting Frida to instinctively reach out her hand, offering the grass to the dragon. Surprisingly, the Gronckle halted in mid-air, its curiosity piqued by the offering. It sniffed the grass tentatively before Frida began scratching its nose with it, causing the dragon to flop onto its side in contentment. A crowd of onlookers, including other Vikings and even Gothi, observed the unusual interaction with interest.

After the training session, Frida made her way across the bridge, lost in her own thoughts. The rest of the group caught up to her, bubbling with questions and excitement about the Gronckle's behavior. Snotlout exclaimed, "I've never seen a Gronckle do that before!" Frida, still distracted, replied, "Oh, I left my axe back in the ring. You guys go on ahead. I'll catch up with you." With a hurried pace, she nearly collided with Astor before rushing off on her own, leaving the rest of the group behind in their enthusiasm. Astor watched her depart with a suspicious expression, his curiosity piqued by her sudden departure.

Back at the lakeside, Frida found herself busy scratching Toothless behind his ear, eliciting a deep purr of contentment from the Night Fury. As Toothless collapsed onto his side, thoroughly enjoying the attention, Frida couldn't help but smile at the sight, feeling a sense of accomplishment wash over her.

The following day, in the dragon training ring, the group faced off against a formidable Nadder dragon. Astor, wielding his mace, hurled it at the creature, but to no avail. As the dragon advanced towards Frida, she dropped her mace, causing the creature to pause and inspect her closely. With Astor engaging the dragon with his axe, Frida took the opportunity to approach the Nadder cautiously. She began scratching the dragon in just the right spot, causing it to collapse in a state of bliss. Astor, witnessing this unexpected turn of events, looked on with a mixture of confusion and surprise.

Later that night, as Frida sat in the Great Hall, the other Vikings rushed over to her, bombarding her with questions and expressions of enthusiasm. Astor, observing the scene with a critical eye, slammed his drink on the table in frustration. He watched Frida closely, his suspicion and curiosity piqued by her mysterious abilities with the dragons.

The next morning, Frida found herself playing with Toothless, who was happily chasing the light reflection from her little hammer, using the sunlight to create a game. Toothless darted around, playing like a cat, much to Frida's delight as she laughed.

In the training ring, Gobber introduced the group to the Terrible Terror, a small dragon that elicited chuckles from the Vikings. Tuffnut, always ready with a quip, started a comment to Astor, "It's like the size of my..." but was abruptly cut off as the dragon leaped onto his face, gnawing at his nose. Amidst the chaos, the dragon's attention was captured by a beam of light, prompting it to abandon Tuffnut and chase after the light like an excited kitten. Tuffnut, feigning injury, exclaimed dramatically, "Oh, I'm hurt! I am very much hurt!"

Frida, quick on her feet, utilized her shield to direct the light, leading the Terrible Terror towards its cage. Tuffnut, impressed by her skill, remarked to Astor, "Wow! She's better than you ever were." Astor, feeling a twinge of annoyance, watched as Frida managed to coax the dragon back into its cage, blocking its escape with her foot and shooting Astor an innocent look.

Later that day, Astor found himself in the forest, practicing his axe throwing against the trees. Catching sight of Frida, he hesitated before rushing after her. However, as he reached the rock where she had disappeared, he realized she had slipped away, leaving him frustrated as he slammed his fist against the rock in annoyance.

Frida and Toothless soared through the sky, testing Frida's new invention. She opened the wing mechanism, and Toothless landed smoothly. As she repeated the action with Toothless airborne, a sudden gust of wind snapped the rope that was tied to a bark of tree that held Toothless in place, sending them flying back. Toothless stood up, and Frida let out a yelp as she found herself caught by the saddle. She sighed, attempting to pull the string that kept her tethered to the saddle "Oh, great."

Later that night, as Frida wandered through the village with Toothless, a Viking man greeted her with a simple "Frida" before walking past. She led Toothless to the workshop, but the dragon peered into the bucket and found it empty. He tossed it aside, causing a noise that caught Astor's attention. "Frida? Are you in there?" Astor's voice rang out. Startled, Frida burst through the window doors, quickly closing them to conceal Toothless. "Astor. Hey. Hi, Astor. Hi, Astor. Hi, Astor," she stammered nervously. Astor scrutinized her, noting her strange behavior. "I normally don't care what people do, but you're acting weird," he remarked, eyeing her suspiciously. Frida laughed, feeling the tug from behind. "Well, weirder," she joked. Suddenly, she was lifted off the ground and pulled through the window doors. Astor hurried to open them, but by the time he did, Frida and Toothless were already soaring through the night sky, disappearing into the darkness.

As the sun rose, its golden rays cast a warm glow over the port of Berk, illuminating the scene of Stoick and his people returning with their battered ships from the dragon attack. With weary expressions, the Vikings assisted each other off the ships, their faces etched with exhaustion and frustration. Stoick approached Gobber, who stood nearby, and inquired, "I trust you found the nest, at least?" Gobber's response was a weary sigh, followed by a muttered, "Excellent," as he trailed after Stoick. Stoick continued, his tone heavy with disappointment, "I hope you had more success than me." Gobber's reply was tinged with a hint of dry humor, "Well, if success means that your parenting troubles are over, then yes." Stoick furrowed his brow in confusion as the other Vikings passed by, offering words of congratulations and relief. "Congratulations, Stoick! Everyone is so relieved!" one woman exclaimed before moving on. Another Viking chimed in, "Out with the old and in with the new, right?"

"No one will miss that nuisance!"

"We're throwing a party to celebrate!"

Stoick's expression reflected shock and confusion as he processed Gobber's words. "She's gone?" he questioned incredulously, his voice tinged with concern. Gobber nodded, his tone nonchalant as they began to walk. "Yeah. Most afternoons, but who can blame her? The life of a celebrity's rough. She can barely walk through the village without being swarmed by her new fans," Gobber explained casually, his words betraying a hint of amusement. Stoick halted in his tracks, his mind grappling with the revelation. "Frida?" he interjected, seeking confirmation. Gobber nodded again, his expression acknowledging Stoick's surprise. "Who would have thought it? She has this way with the beasts," Gobber remarked, his tone tinged with admiration. Stoick, despite his initial confusion, couldn't help but feel a swell of pride at the unexpected news.
