I was in the kitchen working with maa when the sound of dhol came from outside.
We came outside to see and here Dhruv and one other guy were playing dhol and Nidhi didi was sitting on Dhruv's Dhol dancing and swaying to the beats.
Dhruv really loves her a lot. In most of the conversations I am the one talking and he is the one listening to me but whenever he tells me something, it has to have a mention of Nidhi didi.
"Bas bas Dhruv, Utaro ab usse chut lag jayegi" maa told Dhruv.
(enough dhruv, put her down or else you will hurt her or yourself)
Dhruv and that guy place the drums down and that guy (I guess his name is rishi) touches maa's feet and then they settle on the couch.
"Aur Rishi beta kaise chal raha hai sab, abhi bhi padhai chal rahi hai"
(how's everything going rishi)
"Nahi aunty, college toh khatam hogaya, ab job chal rahi hai" he replied
(College has finished aunty, I am working now)
"Toh kaha job kar rahe ho" mom asked sitting on the other couch
(where are you working?)
I sat beside Dhruv on the arm rest
"Abhi toh yahi Delhi mai hi ek law firm mai, but kuch time mai banglore jaane ka plan hai" he continued
(Right now, I am working in Delhi only at a law firm, but after a while, I am planning to go to Banglore)
"Job wob toh theek hai puttarji, ladki wadki dhundhi hai tumne" Nidhi didi's mom came and asked rishi
(Job is fine son, what is your perspective on marriage)
He stood up and touched her feet then sat back and answered
"Abhi nahi taiji, abhi umar hi kya hai meri"
(Not right now aunty, I am too young for that)
"Aree, fir bhi koi ladki pasand toh aayi hogi"
(Still, you must have found a girl)
"Nahi taiji, aur waise bhi mai yeh love shove mai believe nahi karta, mera toh manna hai rab ne sab ki jodiya bana rakhi hai, meri bhi bana rakhi hogi, jab usse milna likha hoga toh rab milwa bhi denge aur jodi ko shaadi ke bandhan mai baandh bhi denge"
(No, and I believe god has made someone for everyone so I will wait till I find that someone)
"Par agar tu sabko mana hi karta rahega toh apni jodidar se milege kaise"
(But if you don't meet people, how will you find your someone)
"Tussi ehni tension kyon lainde ho taiji, mainu mere rab te pura bharosa hai, uha sabh kujh sabhal levange"
(I trust in god, he will take care of everything)
"Leave him now didi, even he will have to go and get ready for the function " Maa said
"Jii aunty, I will take your leave now" Rishi said to maa
"Wapas aata hu bhabhi bhaiya ke saath" He said to Nidhi didi and Nidhi didi smiled and nodded
Then maa sent Nidhi didi to her room to get some rest, and badi maa and maa went to work.
I was going with them when Dhruv held my wrist and pulled me to the side.
"Itna kya kaam mai busy ho gayi hai madam, ki apne hone wale pati ke liye hi time nahi" He said pinning me to the wall and towering over me
(where are you so busy madam, that you don't have time for your to be husband as well)
"Mere hone wale pati ke pass konsi fursat hai apne kaam se" I said crossing my arms over my chest and rolling my eyes
(My to be husband is also always busy in his work)
"Aap boliye toh sahi, saara kaam chordke pura din aapke saath beth jaaye"
(Tell me once and I will leave all my work for you)
"Hatt besharam" I lightly slapped his shoulder and was walking away when I felt a tuck at my dupatta
(you are shameless)
"Dhruv, chordo mujhe jaane do"
(Let me go Dhruv)
"Ab tum chahti ho mai tumhara dupatta pakhdo toh sidhe se kehdo"
(If you want me to hold your stole you can ask me directly)
I couldn't understand what he said so I turned around and he raised his hands in surrender and I saw my dupatta was stuck in his watch
I went close to him to take it out from the watch
"Dekhlo ab yeh bhi nahi chahte ki tum mujhse dur jao"
(See for yourself, even this doesn't want you to go away from me)
"Aapse dur kaha hi jaungi, par abhi Nidhi didi ki sagai ka kaam hai na? Uske baad aram se bethenge saath mai theek hai?" I got my dupatta out and left
(Where will I go away from you, just let Nidhi's engagement go with peace then we can have are time together)
and I could hear him saying behind me
"Agar yeh itni pyaar se bolegi toh jaan bhi dedu time kya cheez hai"
(if she asks so sweetly I will say yes for everything)
and I blushed.
It has became a daily chore with him around.
In the evening I got ready and went to see Nidhi didi if she needs anything.
And when I came just outside her room, at the threshold of the door, I saw she was sitting at the dressing table all ready in her outfit and behind her was Standing Dhruv,
He was looking so dashing in his black kurta,
I literally was required to take a deep breathe to calm down my racing heart,
Then Dhruv said something and Nidhi didi chuckled and turned towards me
"Why are you standing there Netra, come inside"
I went inside and stood there
She stood up and
"Kaise lagi rahi hu mai" asked while twirling
She was looking like a royal queen in her light green elegant floral lehenga
"Aisi ki jiju aaj hosh mai toh nahi rahenge" Dhruv said before I could even respond
"Unhe tang mat karo Dhruv" I said and took some kajal from my eyes and put a theeka behind her ear.
"Bahut pyaari lag rahi ho di, kahi meri hi nazar nah lag jaye"
"Chalo ab aap apne suprise ke liye taiyaar ho jao" Dhruv said
"Kaisa suprise?" I asked
"Kuch toh bhai-behen ke bich secret rehne do" Dhruv teased me and I rolled my eyes and went out of the room.
My saree was very light but still it was difficult to walk in it.
It was a light purple, net saree.
I went down and just then the groom's side came.
Hardik jiju was looking really good as well.
He was twinning with Nidhi didi,in his light green kurta and jacket.
All of us welcomed them.
And we went towards the stage we set up in the hall and the decorations were really good, I haven't paid them enough attention till now.
Just as Hardik jiju sat on the seat at the stage the lights went off.
Why did the lights suddenly went off? What is the suprise? Will everything go smoothly?
