I was packing my stuff, getting ready for my trip to New York to film my series next week. I wanted to make sure I was prepared well in advance.

"What are you doing?" Walker asked, leaning on the doorframe.

"Do you always have to be in the room to ask me questions when I need alone time?" I turned around, slightly exasperated.

"Hey! I don't have the strength to stalk you, so I'll just ask you!" he retorted.

"Nicole is going back to NYC next week, and I'm going there to film a series," I explained, continuing to pack."Wait, you act?" he asked, surprised.

"You didn't know?" I stared at him incredulously.

"Uhm, no. You barely talk to me," he admitted.

"Correction! You barely talked to me," I countered.

"I had every right to," he argued.

"No, you do not!" I snapped back. "It was my pizza slice!" he suddenly yelled.

I stared at him, taken aback. "Walker William Scobell, it was the last ranch slice! You know I hate pepperoni!" I yelled in frustration.

Walker paused, his expression softening as he realized the absurdity of the situation. "Im sorry," he admitted with a sigh. "I was being pretty dumb about the whole thing."

I crossed my arms, still fuming. "An apology won't bring back that slice of pizza!" I exclaimed, feeling a bit irrational but unable to shake off my frustration.

Walker shrugged, a hint of annoyance in his tone. "It's just pizza, Ennik. You're making a big deal out of nothing."

"Just pizza?" I repeated incredulously. "You don't understand, Walker. That was the last slice of ranch, and you know how much I love ranch!"

He rolled his eyes. "You're overreacting. It's not like it's the end of the world."

"Easy for you to say," I retorted, feeling a surge of anger. "You always get what you want, don't you? Well, not this time!"

Walker frowned, his patience wearing thin. "Look, I said I'm sorry, okay? Can we just drop it?"

I shook my head stubbornly. "No, we can't. Not until you understand how important that slice of pizza was to me!"

Walker frowned, his patience wearing thin. "Look, I said I'm sorry, okay? Can we just drop it?"

I shook my head stubbornly. "No, we can't. Not until you understand how important that slice of pizza was to me!"

I took a deep breath, the heat of the argument dissipating as I considered Walker's words. "We were 11," he said, his voice softening with realization. "It's just pizza, and we both ate from it."

"But you literally ate most of it," I retorted, still feeling a twinge of annoyance.

Walker sighed, a flicker of amusement dancing in his eyes. "You almost broke my arm!"

I couldn't help but chuckle at the memory, the tension between us finally starting to ease. "Okay, maybe we both overreacted a little," I conceded.

"Definitely," Walker agreed, a grin tugging at the corners of his lips.

I smiled back, feeling a weight lift off my shoulders as we let go of the petty argument

"Wanna go get ice cream? I just got my allowance, and I'm craving it," Walker suggested.

"I low key want to go to the beach," I replied.

"Ice cream and beach," Walker mused, giving me a nod. "Sure, I'll just change, and I'll come."

As he closed the door behind him, I made my way to my closet to change.

"Wait, so you and Leah are both on Percy Jackson? We used to love that stuff," I exclaimed, surprised, as we walked.

"You still do?" Walker asked.

"I've only read the Percy Jackson series, but not the rest," I admitted.

"I'm making you read them, I don't care," he declared.

"Don't have time," I replied.

We arrived at the ice cream store, and I opened the door. "Ladies first," I said, gesturing for Walker to enter. He just rolled his eyes and walked in.

We approached the counter, greeted by the delightful scent of freshly made waffle cones and the colorful array of ice cream flavors. As we scanned the options, I couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia wash over me.

"What are you getting?" I asked Walker, peering over at the menu board.

"I'll go with my usual, chocolate chip cookie dough," he replied, pointing to the flavor.

"Hmm, I think I'll try the mint chocolate chip," I decided, my mouth watering at the thought of the cool, refreshing flavor.

After we got our ice cream we walked to the beach and we sat on the bench.

If you've never been to Colorado, then how did Nari meet Leena?" he inquired.

"It happened when Nari was staying with Dad, and, well, when you guys relocated to Pennsylvania, she wanted to come visit us. But then Dad disappeared entirely, so..." I trailed off with a sigh. "She ended up staying with us," I concluded, my gaze shifting to the sky above.

"Well, that's quite the unexpected turn of events," Walker chuckled, his tone lightening. "Leave it to Dad to vanish without a trace."

"Yeah," I grinned, the absurdity of the situation hitting me. "Guess that's his signature move." I laughed.

"you reminded him of Leah," I glanced at him. "She's just so cool. I've been a huge fan since 'Beast.' Her performance was incredible, and I've been following her ever since." I said

"She's been watching your vlogs lately and thinks you're cool. You should meet her," he suggested.

"I'd love to! But like I said, I only have four days until I leave for NYC," I replied.

I felt my phone ding so I got it out and opened it it was from my gmail.

I felt my phone buzz, so I took it out and opened it. It was an email notification from my Gmail account.

Dear Team,

I regret to inform you that due to the ongoing industry strike, there will be a delay in the production schedule for "Echoes of Silence." We are actively working to address this challenge and will provide further updates soon.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,
James.

I felt a wave of disappointment wash over me as I read the email.

"I guess I'm not going anywhere," I muttered. Walker shot me a quizzical look. "What do you mean?" he inquired. "The filming got delayed," I explained.

"I'm sorry to hear that," Walker said sympathetically. "But hey, at least you'll have more time to spend here, right?" he added with a slight smile. I nodded, feeling a bit better at his attempt to cheer me up.

"It's getting late, let's head back home," he suggested as we both stood up to leave.

R speaking!

Long chapters.
