Night had fallen as the group made their way to the city you could see the lights of the lanterns brighting up the streets as they were filled with music
Reptile jumped rooftop to rooftop as he scouted out the area for the group
It wasn't long till he had spotted the hulking being that was General Shao
He was able to follow the general with little difficulty as he climbed the rooftop of the building he had just leaped to he saw both princess Kitana and Mileena were attending the festivities along with their bodyguards of course
Shao had his own ontourage as he swept the streets for any signs of the earthrealmers
Li Mei watched with a knot in her stomach she knew the earthrealmers weren't the brightest well mainly just Y/N and Cage
She had already searched all the locals who were selling alcohol hoping to catch sight of Y/N he might of been an earthrealmer but he showed her kindness in his own odd way and she hated being in debt to people, that's all it was right?
She stepped alongside Shao and walked with him as she spoke up trying to hide her nerves " Who are these earthrealmers were looking for?"
" You have their description" Shao answers in his usual gruff voice
" You could atleast tell me why they're here? What have they done wrong" She says frustrated with all the secercy
" State secerts, Not for your ears" he says before he takes off down another street leaving her
She hisses he and all his subordinates were up to something but at her current position she couldn't do much to find out
Elsewhere in the city the group were fitting on their disguises
" Night night sweet Prince of Darkness" Cage chuckles as places a hat onto Quan Chi's head
The movie actors attention though was torn towards the ongoing argument " Y/N your behaviour is ridiculous" Asharah said sternly
" Shut it" he growls as he peeks around the corner glaring at the booze in the people's hands
" Just need a sip" he says taking a step forward but Kung Lao places a weary hand onto his shoulder
" C'mon think of it this way the sooner we do this the sooner we get home then you can drink as much as you want" he says trying not to anger the reaper would gone hours without booze at this point
Y/N looked at Kung Lao over his shoulder and let out a annoyed scoff as he stepped back and placed his hat on " Stupid" he mutters
Cage looks at everyone and gives them all a thumb up " Perfect, you'll fit right in"
Asharah was fiddling with her hat trying to make it more comfortable
" You couldn't steal a more functional hat?"
" What?" Cage says in defense " It hides your face"
" And honesty it suits you" he says complimenting her which causes Y/N to scoff getting everyone's attention
" Didn't your parents teach you not to get attached to stray dogs you might not be allowed to keep them afterall or you know their circumstances could lead to complications with their health" he says mockingly as he takes a step closer to Asharah
" The others call you reaper but I do not fear you death" Asharah says sternly as they got in each other's faces
This caused Y/N to let out a wolfish growl " Okay okay that's enough" Cage says bravely standing between the two
It was clear the two weren't fond of one another to much but they'd have to put their feelings aside for now
" Your mistake is thinking you are my equal demon" Y/N growls
Y/N had no problem with people getting stronger in fact he encouraged it he loved to see people become stronger and he loved to fight strong opponents
But one thing he hated was people who thought they were his equal afterall even Liu Kang was careful when treading that line, he hated the empty promises of those who vowed to be his equal and they would end up getting cut down in seconds
It didn't matter what Asharah was she'd end up just like the rest Y/N thought
But before the two could continue their bickering Syzoth returned
Cage sighs happy for a distraction "What's the word?"
" Go toward the stage, then right to the portal gate but there are soldiers and constables everywhere" He informs the others
" That's fine this place needed some more red anyway" Y/N says as he begins to move leaving the others
" His gonna get us spotted" Kung Lao groans
" I'll create a diversion, you go" Syzoth says to everyone as he heads out
The others begrudgingly head out to not left much of a choice
They scampered to catch up with Y/N luckily he hadn't gotten far Y/N lead from the front with Kenshi and Asharah to his sides while Cage and Kung Lao were at the back carrying Quan Chi
Y/N's eyes scanned through every single person he thought as a potential threat it didn't take long to see a group of guards up ahead his hands twitched with anxiousness not by the fear of being found out but by himself
He had to resist his old habits of scratching at his wrists as he use to do all those years ago
A chuckle escapes his lips often his enemies would never wound him the only one who really hurts him is himself
His attention is torn away from his thoughts as firecrackers miss fire causing a fire
He sighs grateful for the distraction the group act as worried civilians as they join the screaming crowd in an attempt to speed up their escape
The group didn't get to far when Kenshi stopped and looked back and seeing syzoth running away with his ancesteral sight
( A/N: I got no idea what that is actually called)
Kenshi darts off to help Syzoth ignoring Cages hushed shouts
" Danmit" Cage mutters
" What should we do?" Kung Lao asks
Y/N groans as he turns around " Keep moving" he says as he heads off into the direction Kenshi went
" Is it wise to leave him on his own?" Asharah questioned
Cage chuckled " You gonna tell him no?"
She shakes her head and sighs as they continue to their way through the crowd
Syzoth returned to his normal state once he saw he wouldn't be able to shake his persuers
He turns back and watches Li Mei approach carefully as he cluthes his bleeding arm
" Green blood? You're Zeterran, how can you.."
" There is much you don't know, Like what the general is truly up to" Syzoth says cutting her off
" Surrender and I'll hear you out" she says " I can't if you resist arrest"
" You arrest me, he'll execute me" Syztoh says rasing his fists " That's not how I wanna die"
Kitana who had seen the two begin battle scoffed " Ludicrous" she says as she rushes to the fight to join
" Princess no! You could be hurt" Tanya shiuts as she chases after her
Reiko and Kenshi had joined the fight only making it even messier but Kitana planned to use this chance to land a surprise attack
She readyed her fan blades and tried to strike Syzoth from behind
The Zeterran's eyes widened as he was in the process of blocking a kick from Li Mei and wouldn't be able to block it in time
But a loud clang rang next to his hear as a familiar scythe intercepted the attack
Syzoth grunts as he pushes Li Mei away " I owe you one"
Y/N wordlessly stands between Syzoth and Kitana as he readys his scythe
" Back down princess this doesn't end well for you" He warns
The princess scowls annoyed that he addressed her in such a manner
Tanya stood by her side weapon drawn ready to defend the princess
As for Li Mei a small feeling of relief hit her but she shook her head clear of the thoughts they were enemy's atleast that's what Shao says
" But surely he'll give a straight answer onto what's going on here?" she ponders to herself but a pain in her abdomen tears her from her thoughts as she crashes into a nearby stall
She coughs as she looks up seeing Syzoth had used his tail to attack her he was surely more trouble then she thought
Kitana dahsed at Y/N with a thrusting attack but the immortal side stepped it
He then grabbed her arms and used his flames to slightly burn her arm she yelped in pain it wasn't enough to leave any lasting damage but it was enough for her to drop her weapon
Tanya alarmed by her yelp rushes to attack Y/N " You dear" she shouts but Y/N shoves Kitana towards her stopping her charge
She catches Kitana but she feels the cold blade of the scythe at the back of her foot Y/N pulls his scythe towards him tripping them both and making them fall backwards
A load thud his heard as Kenshi knocks Reiko off the stage and onto the concrete floor unconscious
Both Kenshi and Syzoth rush to Y/N's side " You should probably let us take over" Kenshi says
" Say what?" he growls annoyed
" It be best if the princess wasn't to badly injured" Syzoth says
Y/N wanted to argue but he heard a feint crackling sound making him grunt in annoyance
He skins around slicing the magical attack in half with his scythe as he meets Li Mei's gaze
" You actually thought she'd stay down?" he asks Syzoth with irration
But before he could get an answer he says that they already began fighting the princess and Tanya
He sighs and turns his attention back to Li Mei as he jumps off the stage
" Wouldn't happen to have any booze on ya? " he asks
She scowls " You jest? You make a mockery out of a joyful festival and now speak as if we're allys?"
" C'mon your bright, you know somethings up" he says calmly
She sighs in frustration she knows something is up but she also knows saying yes would only boost his ego
" What? Lizard boy hurt your tongue?" he asks smugly with a smirk
She didn't want to but her lips form into a smile " Your jokes are awful" she says
He chuckles " I know your all about justice and doing what's right but believe me when I say we ain't the bad guys, atleats not entirely bad" he smirks
She shakes her head " You gonna give me a straight answer?"
" Probably not" he shrugs
" Why not?"
" Because you know the answer already"
" Let me guess the one you call big ugly basterd" she chuckles
" You know I'm right" he smirks
She sighs " How did this all become such a mess"
He sighs he opens his mouth up to answer " Look I know I'm an ass but take it from me your.."
" Y/N we gotta go! Shao is closing in on the others" Kenshi yells from the top of a building as Syzoth readys some ropes
He sighs he didn't think they'd be done so fast with the fight he walks in the general direction of the others but stops once he gets to Li Mei
" Just trust your gut" he says before lhe continues walking
" You think am just gonna let you walk?" she asks
He chuckles " C'mon we can save the handcuffs for another time" he says flirtatiously as he looks other his shoulder
She blushes by his obsurd thought
" That's not what I!"
Before she could finish though he had taken off into a sprint making her more angry
" What a fool" she says flustered
