Isla sat in the conference room as she looked to Perkins
"I don't know what you want me to say" Isla asked as he looked to her
"Have you spoken to Alex over what happened" he asked as she looked to him
"Why what's the point. Alex almost died and It was a lot but he's okay now. I'm glad. I know I couldn't loose him" Isla s said. She knew how her relationship with Alex had been hard since the shooting
"If I didn't know any better I would say that you were avoiding it" he said as she looked to him
"I'm not there just no need to talk over it. Are you actually telling me that you won't clear me for surgery as I won't talk over my boyfriend almost dying I just don't see what talking over what happened can do" she said as he looked to her
"You need to get your emotions out over how you feel over it and if you can't do that. You will crack and for that reason I can't clear you for surgery" he said as she looked to him
"You don't know me you don't get to judge me" Isla said as she looked to Perkins. She was annoyed. She knew that she had loved thorough that day and talking wasn't going to help
She was annoyed at how he wouldn't clear her for surgery when she knew that she was fine. She knew all that had happened and for it wasn't easy. Isla knew that her and Alex were tense as ever and she didn't know how talking over the fact he could of died would change anything

Isla wakes down the hall with Cristina and Meredith
"What are we picking? " Meredith asked
" Dress color. I'm not wearing white. Mm. It's sexist and... vaguely racist. Oh. No white, no veil, no rice. "
" Well, what will your mother say? " Meredith said
" No mother. " Cristina said as Isla laughed
" you know, I didn't get cleared for surgery... and I'm pretty sure it's your fault. " meredith said to Derek
" Meredith, I am the chief. I can overrule the counselor." Derek said
" You can? Yes. I love the blue. " Meredith said to Cristina
"Your not the only one tho didn't get cleared I think that counsellor has it in for me" Isla said as April walks up with Derek's lab coat and some brain scans for him.
"Chief shepherd, you're back. " he said as Isla looked to her
"Good morning. "
" I find a giant skull base chordoma. Biggest one I've ever seen. " April said
" Really? " Derek asked
" He came in to the e.R. With trouble breathing. " april said
" You got cleared for surgery? " meredith asked
" I did. " April said
"Bitch" Meredith and Isla said at the same time
" I like the brown, too. " Cristina said
"I know it looks inoperable. I mean, I would've said it was inoperable, but you're back and you're you. " April said as They all walk into the main area of the hospital where the staff applauds Derek's return.
"Right. Hey, uh, yes, good morning. Thank you. Thank you very much. Good. Thank you. Thank you very much. It's, uh, it's great to be back. First of all, I'd like to thank Dr. Webber for stepping up in my absence. Thank you. Uh, I'm grateful for all of you, for all of your support during my recovery. Thank you. Uh, it's just, uh, so great to be back as chief. I'm grateful for the, uh... I'm sorry. That's a lie. That's what people say, and, uh, the truth is... I hate being chief. I hate it. Chief Webber...Chief Webber is our chief. Um... And I'm sorry, but this giant... Sorry, I gotta go look at this chordoma. I, um, I'm sorry, but... I quit. Let's go, Kepner" Derek said to April as everyone looked shocked
"Come on. " Derek said
" Oh, sorry. Okay." April said as Most people look stunned, but Bailey is laughing.
"He just quit. "
" He was supposed to clear me for surgery." Meredith said as Isla smiled
"Guess your stuck like me" Isla said

Alex is being examined by Teddy.
"Yeah. " alex said
" The bullet's at the surface. That's good. I can take it out now. " teddy said
" Nah. I mean, if it's not infected, I'm gonna keep it. It's my war wound. Besides... Chicks dig that crap. " he said
"Checks I thought you were seeing Robbins ?" She asked as Alex shrugged
"It is what it is" he said as Teddy looks less sure but doesn't stop him as he leaves. Alex knew he had hardly spoken to Isla and he tense things were tense

Anna is sitting in with Perkins. She knew that she didn't want to talk over the shooting and what happened and how her brother almost died
"Did you hear that Dr. Yang and Dr. Hunt are getting married?" Anna said
"I did. "
" It's pretty great, huh? It's almost like a silver lining. You know, I... I've read a lot about trauma and how, uh, sometimes people just up and change their lives. They say that the trauma was the best thing that could've happened to them. You know, like Dr. Shepherd this morning. Did you hear that he's not chief anymore? " Anna said
"Dr. Perkins: And how have you been, Dr. Montgomery? You've been through a lot since I last saw you." He asked
"You mean my best friends boyfriend being shot and nearly dying or the fact my boyfriend had to commit me?" Anna asked as Perkins looked to her not saying a word

Isla smiled as she walked over to Anna as she stood in the hallway and looked to her and smiled "hey how are you doing i know how things have been for you" Isla asked as Anna looked to her and smiled
"I'm okay. My head is a mess but I'm okay. It's just hard with mark"
"I get that. Alex and I haven't spoke since he was shot and I don't know. I just don't know what to say to him over all of this" Isla said as Anna looked to her and smiled
"You are a hell lot better for him than izzie. Mark is treating me like a fragile little doll. Do you think we are going to get through it?" Anna asked as Isla looked to her and smiled
Isla didn't know how to answer her as she had no idea if they would cope
"I don't know" Isla said as she and Anna held a look. Isla knew how none of it was easy. All that she knew was that it was more tense before she and Alex were trying to deny how they held when he was still with izzie.

Alex sat in the room with Perkins
"You've been working. " Perkins said as alex nodded
" In the clinic, in the pit. We haven't been allowed to operate, which makes zero sense if you ask me. " Alex Said
"I'd like to, uh, talk to you about the incident last week. " he said
" She's not my responsibility. " Alex said. He knew he didn't want to talk over Isla
"She was your girlfriend. "
" Well, she's not anymore" alex said. He knew he and Isla hadn't spoken since the shooting
"Why did you walk away? " Perkins asked
" Look, life is too short. I almost died trying to stop that guy. Besides, I mean... You know how much tail you get offered when you're carrying a bullet around in your chest? It's like I'm a legend."
"Are you, uh... always this crass, or is that a defense mechanism? Tell me does Isla Robbins mean this little do you?" He asked
"I've had too much crazy for one lifetime."
"And Isla Robbins is crazy?" He asked as Mark bursts in.
" You cleared Anna Montgomery for surgery? "He asked
"Dr. Sloan, I'm in... I'm in session. "
" I had to check her into psych last week. I had to commit her against her will! And you just clear her for surgery? What the hell kind of doctor are you? " mark asked as Anna appears behind him.
"It's okay. You can talk to him. " Anna said
" I'll come back. " alex said
"Fucker" Anna spat at him. She hated how he was treating Isla. Alex leaves. She knew that something was off with him and she didn't want Isla to end up hurt
"Yeah, walk away. You're good at that. " mark spat at Alex. He knew he hadn't been there for Anna but isla especially and he had grown to care for Isla
"She got snowed. Psych put her on heavy doses of antipsychotics and benzos. And then she slept for almost 50 hours straight. When she woke up, she was no longer a risk to herself or others. I mean, she has P.T.S.D. Most of you do. For her, it caused severe sleep deprivation and led to a breakdown. All she needed was sleep. So protocol is that she goes back to work. "
" See? I'm okay. Really. I'm back." Anna said as she walked off

April comes up to where the residents are sitting in the basement
"I just went to cafeteria, and some nurse called me Reed and then said, "I thought you died." April said
"Yeah, don't go to the cafeteria for lunch. They just point and stare. " Lexie said
" Is that why you dyed your hair?" Jackson asked her
" They stare because we should've died. " Cristina said
" Pack a lunch. Keep it in your locker." Lexie said
Alex comes in with his papers that he's been cleared.
"You are kidding me. You got cleared? " Meredith asked
"It's down to you and Yang. And Anna and..." he said as he looked to Isla
"What you can't even say my name can you Karev?" She asked as she stood up and walked over to her
"Get out of my face" he said as the two of them looked to each other
"You think that you're so great Karev. Yet when you were bleeding out and I don't even know why I love you at times" Isla said as she went to walk away
"Don't walk about from me" he said as she glared at him
"Why what are you doing to do" she said as they glared
"You weren't the one that was shot" he spat as they glared at each other
"You think that makes you entitled. Go fuck your self Alex as I certainly won't be doing that anymore" Isla spat as she stormed off fighting back the tears in her eyes

Isla sat outside of the hospital as she wiped the tears away from her face as she looked to see mark as he sat next to her and smiled "Anna is worried over you and so am I. I know what we went through the day when Karev nearly died and I know he's been a jerk" mark said as Isla looks to him and sighed
"It's not about him. It's about me. I...I had was there that day and I was so scared when I sat by his side waiting for him to wake up I thought he was going to die and I just can't. The thought of him dying it terrified me" she said as mark smiled
"He's okey now though. You make Karev a better person. You shouldn't let him get to you. If anyone can hated him and his mood swings then it's you" he said as Isla looked to him and smiled
She knew that more than anything that she didn't want get her heart broken. She knew how too much had happened

Isla got back to the house. She wanted to see Alex. She wanted to sort things out with him. She didn't want to loose him and what they had.
"Alex..I" Isla froze as she walked Into his room and saw Lexie in bed next to him. Lexie sat up and smirked as Alex sat up. He had been asleep. He looked to shock as he saw Lexie next to him
"Isla..." Alex said as she shock her head
"Screw you" she said as she walked off. She was heartbroken. She walked iff crying. She couldn't believe he'd do this to her
Isla had no idea just of the secrets that were going to be revealed as her life was turned upside down
