Dispatch: Squad 3, Truck 81, Engine 51, Ambulance 61 structure fire Park St warehouse.
They come onto the floor and start throwing their gear on. Casey grabs his gear off the truck. Brett looks over.
Brett: How's Emma holding up?
Casey: She's back at work.
Brett: Already? I'm going to need to knock some sense into that girl.
Casey: Please do.
They take off.
Voight: (This is Sargent Voight I have multiple officers trapped inside of the warehouse on Park St.)
Casey grabs his radio.
Casey: (Severide did you hear that)
Kelly: (Breathe Casey. I'm sure she didn't go in)
They pull up. Casey jumps out of the truck and goes running over.
Casey: Voight is Emma in there.
Voight: Yeah. The whole team is in there. Casey I'm sorry we were just looking for evidence. The whole building went up in flames.
Casey whips around.
Casey: Chief she can't inhale smoke right now.
Boden: Alright rescue truck get in there and help try to find them. If you come across Emma she comes out first. Herman let's get a line in there.
Herman: Copy that Chief.
Kelly goes in with Casey next to him.
Kelly: Fire department call out.
Hailey: Kelly.
Kelly: Hailey. Who's in there with you. Hailey: Jay. Kim and Kevin went downstairs and Adam and Emma went upstairs.
Casey: Joe, Capp work on getting them out. Stella, Mouch work on getting downstairs. Kelly and I will work our way upstairs. Hang in there Hailey. Help is coming.
Boden: (Casey I need a report. What's it look like in there)
Casey: (Chief it's fully engulfed. We can barely see and the floor is very unsteady.)
Flames engulf the windows outside.
Boden: (Casey you got two minutes. Hurry it up.)
Casey: (Copy that.)
Kevin grabs Kim.
Kevin: We have to find our way back to the stairs.
Kim: Alright.
Emma looks at Adam.
Emma: I'm starting to get really lightheaded.
Adam takes off his jacket and covers her face.
Adam: We gotta go now.
All of a sudden a loud explosion knocks everybody off their feet. Boden and Voight stand back up. Brett and Foster look at each other.
Boden: (Casey what happened in there. Casey.)(Casey!)
Casey: (Chief the second and first floor fell into what I think is the basement. It was a hard fall. I have no idea how anyone is. It's a fire storm down here.)
Boden: (Casey find a way out of there now.)
Casey: (Working on it Chief.)
Kevin picks Kim up.
Kim: What happened.
Kevin: I think the floor collapsed. We gotta get out of here now.
Hailey looks over at Jay.
Hailey: You ok.
He grunts.
Jay: My leg.
She looks down and there are bricks laying on his leg. Herman radios to Chief.
Herman: (The fire is getting worse Chief. I'm going to work on rescue efforts.)
Chief: (I'm coming in. We gotta move.)
Kelly and Casey come upon Adam.
Casey: Adam where is Emma.
Adam: I don't know I was holding her when the floor fell. We got separated. I can't find her.
Casey: Emma. Emma!
Kelly: Emma call out.
Joe and Capp see Hailey trying to move the bricks.
Joe: Hey Hailey let me help you with that.
They begin moving them. Mouch and Stella begin pulling away the stuff that fell in the stairwell. Boden Herman and Ritter run down and help too. They pull the stuff out.
Boden: Exits open. Come towards me if you can.
Kim and Kevin come over.
Stella: Are you guys ok.
Kevin: I think so.
She takes them outside to Brett. Capp and Joe pick up Jay and head outside. Hailey follows behind with Ritter. Mouch and Herman reach the hose in and try knocking out the flames. Kelly looks at Adam.
Kelly: Go with Mouch and Herman and get out of here.
Adam: What about Emma.
Kelly: We'll find her. Just go.
Mouch grabs Adam and they head out. Herman looks over.
Herman: Chief what do you need.
Chief: I need you to get out of here.
Herman: What about Emma.
Chief: I'm not going to leave this place until she is found.
Herman: Chief.
Chief: Go Christopher.
Herman takes off up the stairs. Boden walks over.
Boden: Casey we have to go before this whole thing collapses.
Kelly: Emma is still missing.
Joe brings Jay out and lays him on a stretcher. Voight comes over.
Voight: Where is Emma.
Jay: I don't know. She isn't out yet?
Adam comes walking out.
Voight: Adam where is Emma. I told you to stay with her.
Adam: I did Sarge. The floor collapsed and I lost her.
Voight: My god.
He stares at the building. Back inside Casey sees feet.
Casey: Chief Kelly give me a hand.
They begin pulling debris off of the body. Kelly steps back.
Kelly: Oh my.
Emma is laying unconscious with blood and burn marks all over her.
Casey: Emma!!!
Boden: Casey; Kelly and I got her. Let's go.
Boden and Kelly pick her up.
Casey: (Brett meet us by the entrance. We found Emma. She has severe burns.)
They are at the top of the stairs. Kelly looks up.
Kelly: Get down.
The building collapses. Everyone stares at the building. Boden comes out carrying Emma. Kelly and Casey follow.
Voight: Emma!
He lays her onto the stretcher. Brett listens.
Brett: I don't have a pulse. Kelly begin chest compressions. Let's get her loaded up and to the hospital. We need to get her there as soon as possible.
Foster: We don't have time to wait for another ambulance. Joe let's get Jay loaded on the seat.
Joe and Foster lay Jays backboard on the seat and Brett and Kelly push the stretcher with Emma up into the ambo. Boden looks at them.
Boden: We will be right behind you guys.
They take off. Brett looks at Foster.
Brett: She suffered major injuries and burns. I'm worried about internal bleeding.
Jay is holding her hand.
Jay: Emma come on hang in there. We are almost there.
Emma opens her eyes. Kelly holds his chest compressions.
Brett: Hey Emma you're in the ambulance you are going to be ok.
Jay: Emma I'm right here. You hold on for me.
She closes her eyes again.
Brett: I've lost her pulse again.
Brett takes over chest compressions. They pull up to the hospital. She jumps out of the ambo.
Maggie: Dr Choi. You got a victim from the warehouse fire. Dr Manning you got the other one. They were in the same ambulance.
Ethan rushes out.
Ethan: What do we got?
Brett: Emma sustained a fall through two floors and burns throughout the body.
Ethan: Alright.
He gets them into a room.
Ethan: Lift on my count. 1,2,3. Let's start an IV and get her on oxygen. April page Dr Marcel.
Emma opens her eyes.
Ethan: Hey Emma it's Dr Choi. You're in good hands.
Crockett rounds the corner.
Crockett: Dr Choi. What do you need?
Ethan: Do you have an opening I need emergency surgery now.
Crockett: Prep her. There is someone on the table.
Ethan: Crockett I have a blocked airway. She needs to go now.
He looks at Ethan.
Crockett: I'll go help so he gets off faster.
He runs off.
Crockett: Lauren lets go.
Ethan turns to April.
Ethan: I'm going to brief everyone. If anything changes you let me know. Keep her alert.
Ethan walks out into the prayer room.
Casey: Ethan how is she.
Ethan: Honestly she isn't doing good. She inhaled a lot of smoke and broke a lot of bones. This by far has been the worst I've ever seen her injuries. She is going in for a surgery to open up her airway and then she has to go in for another one to repair everything.
Kelly: Is there a chance she won't make it.
Ethan: There is a chance but unless she has surgery complications she should be fine.
Crockett comes out.
Crockett: Let's go Ethan.
They take her up to the OR. Casey is sitting there with his hands on his head. Maggie comes over.
Maggie: Maybe this will help get your mind off of it.
She hands him Emily.
Casey: Hey baby girl. It's ok.
He looks at Maggie.
Casey: Thanks.
(1 hour later)
Crockett: She's good. First surgery done girl. Keep hanging in there. You're doing great. Ethan get her to recovery. When she wakes up do some scans to see what definitely needs to be fixed and we will work from there.
Ethan: Alright.
Hailey goes into Jays room.
Hailey: Hey.
Jay: Hey.
Hailey: How are you?
Jay: I broke my leg in multiple places. I got some crutches. Spend a few weeks off. Do a little therapy we move on.
Hailey: Glad to know you're ok.
Jay: How's Emma.
Hailey: She isn't good Jay.
Jay: What.
Hailey: She is fighting to stay alive.
Jay: Oh my god no.
Hailey wraps her arms around him. Emma wakes up.
Ethan: Hey you made it through the first surgery.
Emma: Ethan I don't feel good.
He looks at April who has come into the room.
Ethan: Just take some time to relax. I'll have April give you some meds to help with the pain.
Emma: Ethan my body is numb.
Ethan: I know. It will go away. Hang in there.
April goes out with him.
April: Ethan you aren't thinking what I think you are right.
He looks at her.
Ethan: She isn't going to make it April. Her organs sound like they are shutting down. And if for some miracle she does make it she is going to wish she had died.
He heads to the prayer room.
Ethan: Hey everyone Emma made it out of surgery. We have a little while till her next one if you would like to see her.
Foster and Stella stand up and head to her room.
Stella: Em what's up.
Emma: Hey Kidd Foster.
Stella sits on the bed.
Stella: So big plans with the baby.
Emma: Casey is taking her out tonight with him. Hopefully all goes well.
Foster: I'm sure they will be fine.
The group hugs. Hailey and Kim come in.
Emma: Hey my two favorite detectives.
Hailey: Hey how are you.
Emma: I'm ready to get back out there.
Kim: I'm sure you are. Hang in there.
Hailey leaves the room crying. Adam and Kevin come in the room.
Adam: Hey champ how are you holding up.
Emma: I'm ok. Are u.
Adam: Only if you are.
Kevin: You're gonna be back to fighting crimes soon.
Emma: You better believe it.
Herman and Joe come around the corner.
Herman: Hey girl.
Emma: Hey Herman.
Herman: Mollies waiting for you. Drinks on me when you are able to get out of here.
Emma: Awesome.
Joe: Promise me you'll take care of yourself.
Emma: Promise me you won't give up on Chloe.
Joe: I promise.
Emma: Then I promise too.
Herman walks out.
Herman: Ethan she isn't really going to die right.
Ethan: I hope not Herman.
Kelly rounds the corner.
Kelly: Hey there.
Emma: God fires are intense.
He smiles.
Kelly: Yeah that's right you didn't get to experience one until now.
Emma: So what's it like out there without me.
Kelly: It's chaotic. But it's going to be alright. Get some rest. You can't fight crimes without it.
Boden comes in.
Boden: So.
Emma: So what.
Boden: I'm glad you're ok.
Emma: I don't feel ok but I appreciate it.
Brett comes in.
Brett: Sorry to interrupt Chief Crockett said surgery is in a few.
Chief: Hang in there I'll see you soon.
Brett hugs her.
Brett: Feel better girl. We are all praying for you.
Emma: Thanks Sylvie.
Voight comes in.
Voight: Em you ok.
Emma: Yeah dad how about you.
Voight: I'm fine. Just a little worried about you.
He hugs her.
Voight: Just hang in there ok.
Emma: I will.
Will comes in.
Will: You ready for surgery.
Emma: Yeah.
They first bump.
Jay and Casey come in. Jay grabs her hand.
Jay: I just wanted to say I love you and let you know how much I enjoy being your brother and partner in crime.
She begins crying.
Emma: Jay you make it sound like im leaving but I'm not.
Jay: I know but it's a difficult surgery. I love you.
He hugs her. Jay Will and Voight leave the room. Casey brings over Emily.
Casey: Hey you ok.
Emma: Yeah.
Casey: You're going to be up and running in no time.
She kisses Emily.
Emma: You behave for daddy. I'll see you soon.
Casey kisses her.
Casey: I love you.
Emma: I love you too.
Ethan comes in.
Ethan: Dr Marcel is doing a few surgeries to fix some broken bones. Then you'll be out and good to go.
Emma: Ok
Ethan wheels the bed towards the elevator. Casey grabs Emma's hand.
Casey: Good luck I'll see you soon.
Dr Marcel walks into the OR.
Dr. Marcel: Alright ladies and gentlemen we have a long work ahead of us but this girl here is a fighter. So I'm not worried.
Dr Marcel begins working on her. Jay sits down next to Casey.
Jay: Hey. You ok?
Casey: I just don't want anything to happen to her.
Jay: Hey. She's going to be alright. If there is one thing Emma showed this world is that nothing stops her from doing the impossible.
Dr Sexton looks up.
Dr Sexton: Crockett her heart rate is dropping. We are running out of time.
Dr Marcel: Give me two more minutes to close her up.
Dr Sexton: We don't have two more minutes.
Her heart stops completely.
Crockett: No! Emma come on. You're almost done.
He begins chest compressions.
Crockett: Noah I need the paddles now.
Ethan comes running in.
Ethan: Dr Marcel what happened.
Crockett: She stopped breathing all of a sudden.
Ethan: I'm coming in.
Crockett: Clear.
He shocks her. Still nothing. He goes back to compressions. Ethan comes in.
Crockett: Emma come on stay with us. You have too many people here for you. Come on Emma. Amp the paddles to 300.
He shocks her still nothing. He goes back to compressions.
Crockett: Emma stay with me.
Dr Choi: Crockett.
He continues doing chest compressions.
Ethan: Crockett. We need to call it.
Crockett: No.
Ethan: Dr Marcel she's gone.
He stops. He throws the tools against the wall.
Ethan: Time of death 15:34.
Crockett: She was fine during the first surgery. What the heck happened.
He throws off his mask.
Ethan: Hey take your time. Close her up and then we can talk to everyone.
Crockett: Totally looking forward to that. I promised them she would make it.
Ethan: You did everything you could. Just remember that.
Ethan walks out. Dr Marcel finishes the surgery. He puts a sheet over her. Years are streaming down his face.
Crockett: Why did you have to leave. Why. You were going to be ok and live a healthy life.
He pauses and smiles.
Crockett: I get it. You put up a heck of a fight girl I'm proud of you Emma Casey. You were an amazing person.
