Lying on the chilly floor of the practice room, the music blaring around her, Hyejin felt a wave of nausea washing over her. Days melded into one another, each filled with relentless rehearsals that seemed to stretch on endlessly. A sudden knock at the door snapped her out of her thoughts, prompting her to spring to her feet.
Opening the door, she found a fellow trainee standing there, concern etched on their face. "We're heading out for lunch. Want to come along?" they asked.
"No, thanks though," Hyejin replied with a weak smile.
"Alright, just make sure you're not overdoing it," they cautioned before disappearing down the hallway. Left alone once more, Hyejin's phone chimed, drawing her attention to her bag lying nearby.

"Is it as good as you hoped?" he asked, a smirk playing on his lips.
She flashed him a thumbs-up, playfully covering her mouth with closed eyes. "Stop overreacting," he chuckled as they watched strangers pass by outside the window.
"Hey, I'm going to order an egg drop sandwich. I'm starving!" Hyejin suddenly exclaimed, bouncing on her toes.
"Sure go on!" Kaito encouraged her.
As she dashed to the counter, Kaito's eyes caught sight of her phone lighting up. Curiosity got the better of him, and he couldn't resist stealing a quick glance at the message as he took her place.
"What the..." Kaito's eyes widened as he read the flurry of messages. "NCT members? Is she training right now? I—what..."
His shock was interrupted by Hyejin's return to the table. Seeing his expression, she stopped short, her smile fading. As she glanced at her phone, her plate nearly slipped from her hand. She hurriedly set it down.
"Kaito, I swear I didn't mean to lie to you. I just didn't know how to tell you. Okay?" she pleaded.
"No, it's my fault. I always said you should pursue something more stable instead of chasing your dream. Plus, I invaded your privacy," Kaito admitted, gathering his things and heading out of the café.
Hyejin watched him leave, feeling at a loss for words. She wanted to chase after him, but she didn't know what to say.

"Uh, is this the right one?" The friends glanced up at the building, clearly labeled "SM."
"No way... Let's check... Hm... Oh!" He nervously started laughing. "Looks like it's the right one!"
"Are we supposed to go in?"
"No way I'm going into this hell of a building. BURN IT!" The girl quickly covered his mouth. "I don't think it's appropriate for you to say that here."
Just then, Hyejin peeked out of the front door. "You guys are already here. That was fast."
"I don't think we want to be here actually," Minjae stated. The girl next to him shot him a killer expression.
"I understand, no worries. Uhm, let's sit down inside," the oldest showed them the way inside.
The interior was modern and expensive-looking. The two guests felt out of place as they saw famous people walk by. Minjae's jaw almost hit the floor when he saw all those handsome guys just sitting there and talking.
"Are they trainees?" He asked Hyejin curiously.
"Them?" She pointed, and the boy nodded. "No, they aren't. They are just idols' staff."
The friends' faces showed shock.
"Maybe I should really undergo surgery," he touched his face as he watched them with jealousy.
"No, please don't, you're perfect, don't worry!" the younger one reassured him with a smile.
"Really??" He jumped in front of her.
"No."
"Guys, take a seat," Hyejin said nervously. They stood in what was supposed to be a cafeteria, but it was way more exclusive than normal ones. They had all kinds of foods, from European to Asian.
Everyone sat down, and Hyejin began to speak, her nervousness evident. She looked at the ground, trying to find words to begin her sentence when Aria spoke first. "You're a trainee here, right?"
The other looked up, confused about how she could know that.
"We are your friends, as if you could hide something from us! Back then at your apartment, I saw a picture of you and SM trainees. Back then, I didn't figure out that they were trainees, but I recognized that practice room," she said with a smile, making sure Hyejin knew she wasn't mad at her.
"And I knew because the NCT Dream members can't keep secrets!" Minjae chimed in. "You know them better than we do."
"So you guys are not mad?"
"Why would we? We are happy that you can do what you love, and I heard that trainees are actually not really allowed to tell anyone, so it's not like you had any choice," Aria said.
"Thank you," Hyejin said with gratitude. "I actually have to get back to practice. Unless you wanna come along?"
The other two looked at each other, knowing what the other was thinking.
"For sure!"
After taking the elevator up a few floors, they entered an empty room. "I usually practice with other girls, but we can use this one for now," Hyejin informed the others. "I'll start with some choreographies and then maybe sing something if you're interested."
The others gave her a thumbs up as they settled on the floor, eager to watch their friend dance. As the music started, although unfamiliar, they found themselves enjoying it. Hyejin moved gracefully to the beat, her steps perfectly synchronized with the rhythm of the song, creating an entrancing performance.
When the song ended, they erupted into applause and cheers, turning Hyejin slightly bashful as she faced away from them. "Now I'll practice some songs that my vocal teacher recommended!" she announced. "If you're thirsty or need anything, there are vending machines down the hallway."
"Great, I'll go get some drinks! What does everyone want?" Aria asked, taking charge. After getting their orders, she headed out into the hallway. Her first mission was finding the vending machines, which felt like a trek down the lengthy corridor.
As she finally caught sight of the machines, she let out a happy squeal, only to be startled by someone nearby, causing her to shriek. "Oh, sorry for scaring you," the person apologized.
"Oh!" Aria exclaimed, pointing at his face. "I was just about to ask why you're here, but I guess that's your question for me."
"You're here because of Hyejin," he replied.
"Andy, you're quick on the uptake!" she remarked, impressed. He nodded and turned to the vending machine, selecting his items and swiping his credit card. "I've got yours too. Heard you like milk drinks."
With that, he left, leaving Aria standing there with a blush creeping onto her cheeks. "I never knew someone paying for me could make my heart race.
