He bought me that dress.
I was so dumfounded to react as he grabbed my wrist and grabbing that shopping bag, he dragged me with him. A black colored expensive car was already waiting for us at the main entrance.
I sat as soon as he opened the gate for me. There wasn’t any driver or guard with us as he came around to sit on the driver’s seat while I was just baffled about what was happening. He didn’t scold or anything that I was expecting. Might be he was waiting for us to reach home so he could get his way with me. A wave of fear started to course through my veins as I scolded myself internally for letting Areej and Suzi take me. Now they were also on his red list just because of me.
I couldn’t help but glance at him through my peripheral vision to see his knuckles turning white while clutching the steering wheel. He was definitely furious about everything as his jaw as sharp as a blade was clenched in a tight grip as if he wanted to grind someone between his molars.
The least that I could do for myself at that time was keeping my mouth shut and pray for my well-being. I glanced at him again as he was acting like I wasn’t even present in the car when he took a sharp turn while turning the steering wheel with his one hand and running his fingers to make hir hair disheveled with the other hand.
“Go inside.” He ordered as soon as we reached the mansion before storming his car away from there. I just looked at the retreating car in surprise as I was type of relieved that he didn’t come inside with me.
The way he just came to drop me off made me realize that he just left his work only to capture me red-handed while doing shopping with those girls. I entered inside to see Suzi safe and sound while Areej had already gone to her place.
“Literally! He bought you this.” Suzi was amazed to hear what he did as she gave me a mischievous wink which I didn’t understand but she clearly didn’t want to elaborate that.
“What was that?” I asked as she made my dress hang in the wardrobe of my room.
“You’ll see I guess.” She said as she sent a picture of the dress in one of her chat groups.
The group was named The Victims and it turned out the members were Suzi, Imran, Zaroon Bhai, Muzamil Bhai and Areej. I made her explain that to me when we moved downstairs to prepare dinner.
“You are victims of what?” I asked.
“Victims of your husband’s brutality. It’s basically to talk shit about him.” She answered in a chirp voice as she sounded so proud of that.
“That’s not a good thing.” I narrowed my eyes at her as she just laughed.
“Oh? Is the wife being defensive?” She teased me as I couldn’t help but turn crimson.
“No, it’s wrong to talk about him like that and he isn’t my husband.” I was washing rice when Imran entered the kitchen with a box in his hand.
“Ma’am…Sir sent this for you. I have already inserted a new SIM in that. You can check it.” Imran made me stop the work as I glanced at the latest model phone in his hand while there was a laptop in his other hand.
I took the phone from his hand as I mumbled a thanks to him. Everything was already set in the phone as there was a message unread from someone named Mr. Perfect. I opened the chat in a confused state to read the message.
Next time, call me from your own phone.
My heart skipped a beat as I realized who this Mr. Perfect was. I found it endearing and cocky at the same time as how could he call himself Mr. Perfect. Nobody’s perfect. Ugh! He was so full of himself. I decided to change the name but left this task for some other time. It required a lot of thinking.
“You need anything else ma’am?” Imran asked as I was done checking the phone.
“Don’t call me ma’am.” I said as he was older than me and the way he used to bow his head while talking to me didn’t make me feel good. I made Suzi to use to me as it is and I thought it would take some time with Imran too.
“Yes ma’am.” He again said without getting bothered by my words.
“You can save my number so that you can call me anytime.” He asked as I shook my head to save his number.
“You should save his number by the name of The Old Thing.” Suzi gave her unpopular opinion as I couldn’t help but suppress my smile when Imran’s ears started evaporating some steam.
“I am only a few years older than you.” He grinded his molars while answering that.
“So what? I am at least young by my heart. You were old even when you came here in your twenties.” Suzi scrunched up her nose as Imran was saying something in return when my phone rang. It was a message.
Need anything else?
No. I typed back.
Thanks…and Thanks for the dress too.
I closed the chat as the message was seen but he didn’t bother to reply.
I was unaware of the fact at that time that my fingers were trembling while typing back and my heart was racing. It was my first chat with anyone. The first chat was with my husband.
Nope. He is not my husband.
I remembered myself as I diverted my attention towards the tom and jerry who were still bickering. I had to jump in to stop the bickering as I was glad that Imran respected me a lot that he gave in first and left.

Finally, the day came when I was going on my picnic. It wasn’t my first picnic obviously as I had some with my aunt but today, I was beyond excited for this picnic. Might be because I was getting all the princess treatment from everyone. Everyone called me to ask if I needed anything for the picnic. They asked me about the theme and things were going to do on the beach.
Suzi packed all of my stuff as I helped her in that too. Areej came in the mansion to set off for the picnic together. We all decided to wear the same dress we bought the other day. Although the color was different but the design was same. Mine was in white with sunflowers on it. Suzi had it in peach color while Areej’s was in purple.
I decided to let my hairs open as my hairs were wavy hanging down from the either side of my face. I wore pearl shaped tops with pearls bracelet on my wrist. I finally decided to use my make-up too as I made it light with a right amount of tint on my cheeks. I knew I wouldn’t be looking as beautiful as Areej as she was like a model but at least I was contented to my heart when I looked myself in the mirror.
“Oh God! You are looking so good.”
“F**king gorgeous.”
As soon as I descended the stairs while adjusting my veil, I received compliments. Their eyes made me blush as I mumbled a thank you.
“My daughter is looking so pretty.” Dad came downstairs as he was wearing his trousers and white polo shirt. His hairs were all set with a gel as I must say he was still attractive in this age with those pepper-colored hairs.
“You are looking good too.” I said as he smiled at me making me smile back it soon vanished when I saw him descending the stairs. I didn’t know he was in the mansion as I was just walking around freely.
The moment I glanced up his forest green eyes were scanning me from top to bottom as there was something in his eyes that sparkled but it was disguised as mischief.
“You are going too?” Dad asked as soon as he reached us. I could see through my peripheral vision the smirk of Areej and Suzi as they were expecting him to come. Their faces brightened a little as Suzi winked at me but I diverted my attention all towards him.
He was wearing his white colored buttoned up shirt with black pants. His veiny hands were on display because of the folded sheets till his elbow while his hands were on his pockets. The question from Dad made him tore his gaze away from me as I was standing beside Dad while he was before us.
“Why can’t I?” He questioned back as he wore his sunglasses.
“You hate picnics.” Dad reminded him although his eyes were shining.
“I can’t trust you with my wife.” He said and move forward to wrap his large calloused hand around my wrist. He dragged me with him towards his car and I just followed him after hearing Areej words.
“This picnic is going to be a lot of fun.”
