EPILOGUE

1 year later!
Once Delilah had graduated from Umich she could now say with pride she was a certified athletic trainer.
Luke was beyond proud of his girlfriend to see her succeed and how excited she is to do something shes so passionate about.
As a surprise for Luke, unbeknownst to him the Devils were looking for an athletic trainer. Delilah saw the listing and jumped to apply for the job.
After a very nerve wracking and an abnormally long week she finally got an answer back from them. And she had been approved. She was so happy she started to jump around her room back home and squealed like a school girl.
She had to tell Luke as a surprise for him and couldn't wait to see his reaction to the news. It was groundbreaking for the two, no more long distance, getting on planes on the weekend. And no more FaceTimes. Which she was the most relieved about.
It was the end of summer and Luke whole heartedly believed she wasn't going to come to jersey with him. Jack knew because Delilah told him but she told him to keep it a secret from his little brother.
She was so eager to tell him she could barely hold it in anymore. Her way of telling him was a cake and telling him to open a little box which had a screenshot of her acceptance into the job on a piece of paper, then enclosed in a envelope.
To lower suspicion she did it on their one year anniversary. She set down the cake as he smiled up at her with pride. "Your a baker now?" He teased as she laughed and kissed his lips. "Mhm" she answered and walked over to grab two plates, a knife, and a pair of forks.
He watched her movements as she walked back over setting the utensils on the counter. They made a clink on the marble counter as he got and up and wrapped his arm around her. "I love you" he mumbled into her hair as she smiled and leaned into his touch.
"I love you too." She told him and reached over for the knife. "Happy one year" he celebrated as she smiled and cut the cake. "Happy 1 year lukey" she went up on her toes placing a kiss on his lips as he kissed her back.
She pulled away, his comforting blue eyes getting lost in her brown ones. With a soft smile she placed a delicate kiss on his cheek and placed his slice of cake on the plate.
He took a bite and grinned at her. "Is it good?" She asked nervously playing with her rings. "Amazing" he agreed as she laughed. He picked some up with his fork and held it up to her mouth.
She gracefully accepted the bite and covered her mouth when she smiled. Her dimples popping out as she laughed a bit. "I love you, thank you" Luke praised her as she looked up to him with her eyes twinkling. "I love you too. And thank you for the best year of my life. And many more" she thanked him for his presence as he smiled bashfully.
His lips landed on her forehead as he gave it a quick peck. "Oh! I forgot about this" she reminded herself of the gift and walked over grabbing a box. Luke had a confused look on his face as he watched his girlfriend grab a small box.
"Here" she passed the gift onto him with a bright smile. "Thanks" he thanked her and took the box from her hands. She watched anxiously as he lifted the lid from the tiny gift box, and peered in.
He lifted out a piece of paper which had him confused. He glanced up to her as she watched him intently. "What is it?" He asked curiously as her shoulders shrugged in response.
Opening the paper up his eyes lit up and glanced up to his girlfriend. She had a prideful smile across her face, as Luke jumped up from his seat to hug her.
"Seriously?!" He asked as he picked up her up and spun her around. She giggled and nodded her head. He cupped her face and peppered her face with kisses. "I love you so much" he whispered against her lips and kissed her lips gently. "I love you too" she whispered back, her words getting lost in his mouth.
He pulled away with a smile and set her down gently. "Im so proud of you" he admired her and Delilah blushed at his words. "Thank you Luke" she had a soft smile on her face. His hands rested on her waist as he looked down at her.

A few months later!
The beginning of the devils season was starting. And Delilah couldn't be more excited to start the season up. And be with Luke every day. They got their own apartment because Jack refused to see the two snuggling on the couch, or kissing each other. Because he was quote "repulsed at the sight".
After their practice Luke came up to the office, he stood in the doorway as Delilah hummed along to her music playing in her AirPods. She was packing up equipment and sensing a presence she looked up smiling and took notice of Luke.
A grin formed on his face as she took out her airpods and walked over to him. "How was practice?" She asked with her chin resting on his chest adorned with a devils hoodie.
"Tiring" he answered as a yawn escaped his lips. She had a comforting expression on her face while leaning up to connect their lips. "Ill never get over you being here all the time" he tucked stray strands of hair behind her ears. She giggled and looked into his eyes.
"Me neither" she said and let out a content sigh. He looked down into his favorite girls brown eyes as she played with his curls. Just catching a glance of the two you could simply see the love that sparked between them. Which happened when alot to Lukes teammates who walked past the two.
Whether it be after games, win or loss. The two were always in each other's presence. Delilah always comforted him after a rough game which made some of the boys even feel a bit envious towards the couple.
Jack, John, and Alex were walking by and saw the two laughing while looking at each other. And it made all three of them feel a slight pang in their chest. Although they hate seeing the sight they couldn't deny that they wanted the undying love that they held within their relationship.
Luke heard footsteps and turned around and his hands still resting on her hips. Luke had a embarrassed look on his face as the three boys just looked at him. Jack had a sly smile on his face and Delilah rolled her eyes.
"I need a scanner to see when Delilah and Luke are near" John joked as Delilah laughed. While on the other hand Luke looked like he wanted to dig his own grave. And Delilah just found amusement in the situation. "Harvard is calling you tell you to invent that!" Delilah joked as the boys snickered.
Luke laughed at his girlfriends quip to his insult, and Delilah laughed at her joke. John rolled his eyes in response and then had a grin on his face emphasizing the lost tooth.
Luke watched his girlfriend and John playfully insult each other. And finally realized he had achieved his goal in his life.
Having his girl by his side. Waking up to her gorgeous face freckled every morning. Hugging her from behind while she made their morning coffee, and toasting their bagels. Seeing her at work, and running up to her after games. And engulfing her into a hug while kissing her face. Being able to see her smile every day and the dimples that imprinted her cheeks. As she congratulated him no matter how the game went.
And outside of hockey he found tranquility with cooking with her. The soft hum of music playing off their speaker as they swayed back and forth and laughing like teenagers.
When they brung out the flour they flung it onto each other like children and had laughing fits whilst Delilah squealed and ran away from Lukes terrifying hand filled with flower. They truly brought the best out in each other, and were each other's happiness.
He never wanted this era of his life to end. He never wanted Delilah to not be tangled up in his sheets. Tending to his injuries, and of course being his #1 supporter. He just couldn't imagine a life without her nurturing aura.
Luke and Delilah were finally comfortable in life. All they needed were each other and that was enough.

Guys this book is finally done, and im so sad ngl 🤧🤧. But i changed it from one more chapter to just the epilogue because it felt repetitive.
