𝖿𝖺𝗅𝗅𝗂𝗇𝗀 𝗂𝗇 𝗅𝗈𝗏𝖾 𝗐𝗂𝗍𝗁 𝗒𝗈𝗎. ❫
"Mama," Marina calls out as Yuxin fishes her and Marina's passports out of her purse. Yuxin hastily hands the immigration officer the documents before picking up Marina from her makeshift seat on her little luggage.
"Yes, Rina?" she replies, and Marina makes little grabby hands at the passports that are currently being looked over by the immigration officer.
"What are you two here for?" the immigration officer asks.
"The Formula 1 race. My husband's racing." Yuxin says, and the immigration officer nods, sliding the passports back over to the two. Yuxin thanks the immigration officer, putting them into her purse haphazardly.
Yuxin and Marina head over to baggage claim, getting their suitcases relatively quickly. She's messaged Zak beforehand to let him know that they'd be surprising Lando at the first race in Bahrain, so he'd arranged a car to pick them up and send them to the circuit. "You excited to see Dad?" Yuxin asks Marina, who nods. "It's your first time in Bahrain, too."
When Yuxin and Marina head over to arrivals, she sees someone wearing a McLaren t-shirt holding a sign with her name on it, and she waves at him. "Hi," she says, greeting them. "Thanks for picking us up."
"It's no problem," he replies. "I'm sure Lando's going to be so excited to see you guys."
"Yeah," she says, as they make their way towards the car. "It'll be Rina's first time at a race too."
"Ah, that's nice," he says. "I think you'll like it." he tells Marina, who smiles.
The drive towards the circuit goes by faster than Yuxin and Marina think. Yuxin's reading a book to Marina in the car, who points at the pictures on the pages whenever she sees anything orange.
When the two get there, the paddock is busy, as Yuxin expected. Marina, carried in Yuxin's arms, looks around with curious eyes. She points out at a fan wearing a McLaren hat, and Yuxin smiles. "Yes, that's Dad's team! Say hi," Yuxin tells her.
Marina waves at the fan, and the fan waves back, and Yuxin spots them gushing over Marina to their friend afterwards. "Come on, let's go see Dad, yeah?"
The two make their way over to Lando's garage, and Yuxin spots Lando speaking to Jon. He's sipping out of his drink bottle, other hand fiddling with the bracelets on his wrists. "Dada!" Marina calls out, and Yuxin chuckles as she watches Lando turn his head, eyes growing wide when he sees her and their daughter.
He immediately drops everything - muttering a quick 'sorry' to Jon before running over and greeting Yuxin and Marina. "You guys came!" he says, eyes shining with disbelief and excitement. He presses a kiss to Yuxin's lips before picking up Marina in his arms.
"Hiya, Rina," he says, smiling down at his daughter. "You came to watch me race?"
Marina nods, giggling as she reaches for the cap on Lando's head. "You want the cap?" he asks, and he takes it off his head, placing the hat that's far too big on Marina's little head. Yuxin watches the two with a smile on her lips.
"Xinnie, thank you for coming. I know you're busy too," Lando tells her, taking the hat off Marina's head. Yuxin takes it from him, holding the orange cap in her hand.
"Couldn't miss your first race of the season. Rina and I wanted to surprise you - she's very excited," Yuxin says, placing a hand on Lando's shoulder. "I missed you. Even if I did see you only a few days ago."
Lando smiles. He falls more and more in love with her every day. "I missed you too."
"Alright, should we show Rina around before you've got to go racing?" Yuxin asks, and Lando nods, a bright grin on his lips.
"Rina, let's go see my garage, yeah?" Lando asks his daughter, who's tugging at his curls. "Or do you wanna go find Uncle Oscar?"
At the sound of Oscar's name, Marina lights up, clapping her hands together excitedly. "Oscar!" she says.
Lando looks at Yuxin with an exasperated look on his face, and she can only giggle. "I swear she loves him more than me."
"He spoils her," Yuxin says. "Haeun brought me like 5 koala plushies last week and told me that Oscar wanted to give them to Rina."
"I spoil her too!" Lando pouts, sighing. He takes her to Oscar's garage anyways, the giant 81 and Oscar's face plastered on the top of the garage. "Someone's here to see you, Osc."
"Haeun? She said she was on her way, so..." he asks, peeking his head out. He smiles when he sees Marina, and the little girl grins when she sees Oscar too.
"Rina, Xinnie! You guys came?" he asks.
"Yeah, couldn't miss this one's first race of the season, and I think Rina wants to see her dad." Yuxin chuckles, pointing at Lando.
"Rina loves you more though, I swear," Lando says to Oscar, as Marina looks at the Australian driver with wide eyes. "Look, she's even wearing that onesie you and Haeun got her last month."
"Aw, yeah," Oscar says, smiling. "Looks great, Rina."
"Dada," Marina says to Lando, and Lando smiles affectionately at his daughter.
"Yes, baby?" he asks. "What do you need?"
Marina makes little grabby hands at the hat that Yuxin's holding, and Yuxin hands the McLaren hat back to Lando. "You want the hat?" he asks Marina, who nods. She takes the cap in her little hands, eyebrows furrowed as she examines it.
She points at the 4 stitched onto it. "4? Yeah, that's my number, Rina." Lando tells her.
Marina points at the 4 again, and then points at Lando before grinning widely. "I think she's rooting for you." Yuxin whispers to him.
"Good. She better, since I'm her dad, but... good." he says, his eyes shining with joy. "I'll get P1 for you both today, yeah?" he tells Marina and Yuxin, and Marina giggles.
"I know you'll do great." Yuxin says, pressing a kiss to Lando's cheek. Marina wraps her little arms around Lando's neck to hug him, and he holds his daughter tight.
"Guys, I'm still here, you know?" Oscar pipes up, and the family of 3 turn to look at him.
"Oops," Lando says sheepishly. "Sorry."
The Australian groans. "You lot are giving me baby fever," he mutters under his breath.
