Olivia had taken Lauren back to her house the night they found Will's body at the quarry.

She couldn't even imagine how Lauren must've been feeling at the moment.

Liv got up and walked towards the bathroom. She locked the door even though nobody was home except for her. She stared at herself in the mirror and saw that tears were forming in her eyes.

Her hands were clenched onto the bathroom counter as she thought to herself.

𝑰𝒇 𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒒𝒖𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒚, 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝑺𝒂𝒎?

She couldn't help but feel more worried than ever. Olivia had a sinking feeling in her stomach, and she started to hyperventilate.

She didn't know if she was being dramatic or not, but she didn't care. She was worried about her best friend.

When she finally managed to calm herself down, she unlocked the door and stepped out of the bathroom, and headed towards her room.

She closed the door behind her.

She stayed home from school along with Lauren because she didn't feel like going to school, which was odd for her because she would always go to school. It even surprised her. Lauren stayed home because she was too saddened by Will's "death."

She lyed down on her bed and closed her eyes.

Olivia opened her eyes and found that she was still in her room. She sighed and got up to go downstairs.

Lauren had stayed home from school because she was too saddened by Will's "death."

Suddenly, her walkie-talkie started to make a static noise. "Lauren, this is Mike. Do you copy?" She heard Mike say through the walkie-talkie. Lauren didn't even bother to answer, being as she was too upset to get up.

She heard the static again.

"Lauren, do you copy?" Mike said again. Lauren finally decided to answer it. "This is Lauren, I copy."

"I have to tell you something about Will." Mike announced. "About his funeral? I really don't need to hear about this right now, Mike. I'm already upset as it is." Lauren replied.

"No, screw his funeral. This is something different. Something important."

"Different?"

"I need you to come to my house right now."

"Fine. I'll be there in a few minutes."

Lauren had arrived at Mike's house. Dustin and Lucas were already there when she arrived.

They were all sitting in the basement with El sitting in front of them, holding the walkie-talkie in her hands.

"We keep losing the signal, but you heard it, right?" Mike asked. "Yeah, I heard a baby." Lucas responded. "What?" Mike questioned. "Mike, you obviously tapped into a baby monitor. It's probably the Blackburns' next door." Lucas spoke.

"Uh, did that sound like a baby to you?" Mike asked.

"I mean, that did sound like him." Lauren chimed in. Lucas sighed.

"Lucas, you don't understand!" Mike exclaimed. "He spoke last night. Words! He was singing that weird song he loves. Even El heard him!"

Lauren didn't know what to believe, but she did hope that it was Will and that he was still alive.

"Oh, well, if the weirdo heard him, then I guess -" Lucas was cut off by Dustin. "Are you sure you're on the right channel?" He asked.

"I don't think it's about that." Mike voiced. "I think, somehow, she's channeling him." He conveyed

Lauren felt a bit relieved because she realized that with El's powers, they could communicate with Will. And save him. At least she hoped they could.

"Like... like Professor X." Dustin added. "Yeah." The Wheeler boy muttered.

"Are you actually believing this crap?" Lucas asked both Lauren and Dustin. "It could be possible, I mean... Do you remember that one time when Will fell off his bike and broke his finger?" Lauren asked. "He sounded a lot like that."

Lucas sighed. "Did you guys not see what I saw? They pulled Will's body out of the water. He's dead."

Lauren tensed at the word 'dead'.

The images of Will's dead body flashed rapidly through her mind. She didn't want to think of that, but she couldn't help it.

"Well, maybe it's his ghost. Maybe he's haunting us." Dustin guessed. "It's not his ghost." Mike objected. "And how do you know that?" Lucas asked. "I just do!" Mike defended.

"Then what was in that water?"

"I don't know! All I know is Will is alive. Will is alive! He's out there somewhere. All we have to do is find him." Mike stated.

There was a moment of silence before static started crackling on the radio again.

Mike sighed. "This isn't gonna work. We need to get El to a stronger radio."

Lauren felt a lightbolb go off in her head when she thought of an idea. "Mr. Clarke's Heathkit ham shack." She proposed. "Yeah." Mike nodded in agreement with a smirk on his face.

"The Heathkit's at school." The Sinclair boy began. "There is no way we're gonna get the weirdo in there without anyone noticing. I mean... look at her." He turned to face the girl, the rest of them following in suit.

El looked at them, confused.

Lauren leaned against the wall as the boys were discussing the plan. She had zoned out, so she was barely listening to anything they were saying.

"Lauren, you're a girl." Mike pointed out. Lauren stopped zoning out. "Wow, great observation." She said in a sarcastic tone.

Mike sighed. "What I mean is that since you are a girl, you can help El with the outfit and makeup."

"Oh, okay, we'll get to that right now." Lauren then led El to Mikes' sister, Nancy's room.

They sat down on the bed as Lauren opened a makeup kit. She grabbed a brush and dabbed it into the blush, and put it on El's face. El flinched a bit, causing Lauren to let out a slight giggle. El giggling after her. The two smiled at each other.

The boys were finding an outfit for the girl outside of the room.

Once Lauren was finished with El's makeup, she opened the door, and Lucas handed her a blonde wig, and Dustin handed her a pink dress.

"Thanks." She mouthed as she grabbed them. She closed the door behind her and went towards El.

She helped her put on the dress and the wig. Once the finishing touches were over, Lauren led El to a mirror to let El look at her outfit.

"Pretty?" El questioned. "Yeah. Pretty." Lauren smiled. "You are pretty with and without makeup." Lauren verbalized. El turned to look at her.

"Really?"

"Really."

The two girls stepped out of Nancy's room, and the boys turned around to look at Eleven.

Lauren could have sworn she saw hearts in Mike's eyes.

"Wow." Dustin said, amazed. "She looks -" Dustin was cut off my Mike. "Pretty." Mike spoke. "Good. You look pretty good." He added. Lucas gave him a look.

It was obvious to them that Mike had a crush on El.

Olivia decided to go into school late. She put her stuff down onto her desk and sat in her chair.

She was surprised nobody had said anything, being as she never showed up to school late.

About thirty minutes into the class, a woman opened the classroom door. "Olivia Barlowe? If you'll come with me, please." She said. Olivia was confused as to why she had to go with this woman.

She grabbed her things and followed the lady. She led her to the empty cafeteria where she saw her mom sitting in a chair in front of two officers.

"Ms. Barlowe please sit down." Officer Powell ordered.

She sat down in the chair next her her mom and faced the officers. "What is this about?" She asked.

"Well, I heard you're friends with a girl named Samantha Rey. Is that true?" Powell asked. Liv nodded.

"Her mother reported her missing earlier today."

Olivia's heart sank. "What?"

She couldn't believe it. This couldn't be happening.

"I know it may he shocking, but we need to know, when was the last time you saw or spoken to Samantha?" Powell asked. "When we were leaving school on monday." Liv answered.

"Alright. Has she ever mentioned anything about running off?" Officer Callahan asked. Liv shook her head. "No. She would never do that, but even if she did, she wouldn't leave without telling me."

The officers had copied that on a notepad where they were taking notes of the conversation.

The conversation had lasted about ten more minutes before the officers had told her she was free to go back to class.

Turns out, Sam wasn't the only one that had recently gone missing. Not just Will Byers, but Barbara Holland. She wanted to put an end to this. She knew Barb, but not that much. She had seen her outside of the school when she was hanging around with a girl named Nancy Wheeler.

She didn't want to see anybody else go missing. She wanted to find her best friend, and hopefully, she was still alive. She planned to go over to the high school, find Nancy, and go looking for their friends together, but she wasn't sure if her plan would work because she didn't know Nancy that much and wasn't sure if she was going to agree.

As soon as the last bell rang, she bolted out of class to head over to the high school.

Luckily, when she arrived, Nancy was still there. She was standing outside, leaning against the brick wall.

"Nancy!" Liv called out. "Can I talk to you for a moment?"

Nancy nodded, even though she had no idea who Olivia was. "What is it? But first, who are you?" Nancy spoke. "I'm sorry. I am Olivia, Olivia Barlowe. I've seen you around outside of school." Liv replied. "Also, I am from the middle school."

"How do you know my name?" Nancy still seemed confused about what was going on. "Okay, so basically, my friend, Samantha, went missing. I know that your friend, Barbara, went missing, too."

Nancy looked down at her shoes once Liv mentioned the name. Olivia noticed and apologized. "I'm sorry."

"It's fine." Nancy smiled at the girl. Liv smiled back. "Basically, what I am saying is I was wondering if you would like to look for our friends together. We haven't ever met until now, so I understand if you don't want to." She was hoping Nancy would say yes.

She saw that Nancy had a look of determination on her face.

"I'm in." She agreed.

Olivia felt relieved in that moment, glad that she had accepted.

"Is 4:30 or 5:00 a good time to meet up?" Liv questioned. "Sounds good." The Wheeler girl nodded.

Liv then pulled out a piece of paper and a pen from her bag and wrote down her phone number. She handed the small piece of paper to Nancy. "Here's my number."

Nancy smiled. "Thanks. I'll call you later." Liv smiled back and turned to walk away as she waved to the girl.

This was it. She was going to search for her best friend.

                     *✧ 𝐋𝐀𝐔𝐑𝐄𝐍 ✧*

Lauren, Mike, Dustin, and Lucas biked to the school with El on the back of Mike's bike.

They walked into the school and headed towards the A.V. room. "Okay, remember, if anyone sees us, look sad." Mike reminded. "Noted." Lauren responded.

As they walked, they heard someone on the loud speaker talk about the assembly, but they were barely listening. Mike tried to open the door, but it was locked. "It's locked." He said. "What? Let me try." Lauren insisted. She walked over and tried to push the door open, but it wouldn't budge.

"Hey, do you think you could open it?" Dustin turned to El. Before she could respond, Mr. Clark had come up to the group. They all quickly turned to him, trying to act casual.

"Hey." Lucas spoke.

"The assembly is about to start." Mr. Clark announced. "We know. We're just, you know..." Mike acted upset. "Upset." Lucas finished.

"Yeah, definitely upset." Dustin added.

"We need some alone time." Lauren said. "To cry." Dustin voiced. "Yeah, listen, I get it too. I know how hard this is, but let's just be there for Will, huh?" Mr. Clark had a saddened expression on his face as he said those words. "And then..." He pulled some keys from his pocket and handed them to Mike. "The Heathkit is all yours for the rest of the day." He gave them a smile. He looked towards El. "I don't believe we've met. What's your name?" He asked.

"Elev-" El was about to say, but Mike cut her off to not blow their cover. "Eleanor! She's my, uh-"

"Cousin!" Lucas finished for him. "Second cousin." Dustin added. "She's here for Will's funeral." Lauren spoke. "Ah, well, welcome to Hawkins Middle, Eleanor." Mr. Clark smiled at the girl. "I wish you were here under better circumstances."

"Thank you." El voiced. "Uh, where are you from exactly?" Mr. Clark asked. "Bad place." El answered while shaking her head slowly. "Sweden!" Dustin exclaimed. "I have a lot of Swedish family." Mike said. "She hates it there so much." Lauren added. "Cold." Lucas said. "Subzero." Dustin said.

Mr. Clark looked at the five kids awkwardly. "Shall we?" He questioned.

"Yep!" Lucas exclaimed before they all began to walk towards the gymnasium. When they reached the doors, Dustin flung them open, causing all of the attention to turn to the group. They all stood there awkwardly.

"Abort." Dustin whispered. He then went to leave, but Lucas stopped him.

They all went to take their seats as the principal was speaking through a microphone. "We come together to heal. We come together to grieve." He continued on.

"Will Byers' death is an unimaginable tragedy. Will was an exceptional student and a wonderful friend to all of us. It's impossible to express the hole his loss will leave in our community."

"Look at these fakers." Mike spoke. "They probably didn't even know his name till today." Lucas whispered to Mike.

Lauren was the first to notice Troy and James in the row behind them. They were making fun of Will's 'death'. She couldn't help but feel angry at the sight. She tapped Lucas' shoulder and pointed towards the two boys, causing Mike, Dustin, and El to look too.

"Mouthbreather." El muttered.

The assembly went on for another thirty minutes before the school bell rang, telling them it was time to go to the next class.

All the kids got off the bleachers and went to their classes.

"Hey! Hey! Hey, Troy!" Mike called out. "Mike, what the hell are you doing?" Lauren whispered to him.

He ignored her question.

"You think this is funny?" Mike asked. "What'd you say, Wheeler." Troy questioned in a threatening tone. Lauren suddenly got chills. She knew something was about to go down.

"I saw you guys laughing over there." Mike stammered. "And I think that's a really messed up thing to do."

"Didn't you listen to the counselor, Wheeler?" Troy asked. "Grief shows itself in funny ways." James said. At this point, almost 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦𝑜𝑛𝑒 was watching them.

"Besides, what's there to be sad about, anyway? Will's I'm fairyland now, right? Flying around with all the other little fairies. All happy and gay!" Troy and James laughed like they had just said the funniest thing ever as they were imitating a fairy flying around.

Lauren got more angry at this. She suddenly felt the urge to just push them to the ground. As if he read her thoughts, Mike suddenly reached out and pushed Troy to the ground, causing everyone to gasp.

"You're dead, Wheeler!" Troy exclaimed. He began running towards the boy, but he suddenly stopped mid-run.

Everyone had a confused look on their face. It wasn't long before Lauren looked down and saw that Troy started to piss himself. "Dude, Troy peed himself." A blonde kid laughed.

Suddenly, the whole gymnasium was filled with laughter. Mike, Lauren, Dustin, and Lucas were also laughing along with everyone else. "Holy shit!" Dustin exclaimed. Mike and Lauren looked towards El and saw that her nose was bleeding.

They both realized that El was the one that made him do it.

She wiped her nose with her finger as she walked away. "Hey, what's going on here?" The principal shouted. All the kids stopped laughing and began to walk to their classes. "Mike, let's go!" Lucas said as he grabbed the boys arm. The group of kids walked out of the gym.

                      *✧ 𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐀 ✧*

Olivia waited outside for Nancy to pick her up from her house. She had been thinking if Nancy was actually going to show up.

She honestly didn't think she would come, being as she just came up to her out of nowhere and asked to go looking for their missing friends together.

To her surprise, she did show up. He had arrived in her car and rolled down the window. "Are you ready?" She asked. Liv nodded and hopped into the passenger seat.

"I have to stop somewhere first." Nancy said. "Where?" Liv questioned. "I'll explain it to you when we get there." Nancy voiced as she put her seatbelt on. Olivia put hers on, too.

Olivia looked out the window silently as Nancy drove. "Um, may I ask you something?" Nancy asked. Liv snapped out of her thoughts. "Oh, yeah, sure."

"Why did you ask if we could look for our friends together? I'm not saying it's a bad thing you asked, I was just wondering." Olivia took a deep breath. "Because incase if something dangerous is out there, we wouldn't be alone." Liv said. The two fell silent for a few moments until Nancy spoke again. "How long have you known your friend?" She asked. "Since second grade." Liv answered. "What was her name?" Nancy questioned. "Samantha. Sam for short." Olivia replied. "I'm really sorry about Barb."

"And I'm sorry about Sam." Nancy said.

"I hope we can find them." Olivia muttered. Nancy nodded. "Me too." She muttered back.

When they arrived to the place Nancy had to go, they both got out of the car and walked inside. The first thing Olivia saw was caskets. Her and Nancy walked down the hallway until they reached another room with caskets.

She didn't expect to see Jonathon Byers standing there.

She didn't like Jonathon for what he had done. She has seen the photos he had taken of Nancy. Olivia didn't know the full story, but even if Jonathon was looking for his brother, he shouldn't have taken photos of someone getting undressed.

"Hey." He spoke. "Hey." Nancy said back. Jonathon instantly recognized Olivia but didn't say anything except for a nod as a greeting.

"Your mom, um... she said you'd be here." Nancy mentioned. "I just... can we talk for a second."

Liv saw that Jonathon had tears in his eyes. Olivia understood why. Will was found dead at the quarry and they were throwing a funeral for the young boy.

Nancy led Jonathon to a bench in the hallway. Once the three of them sat down, Nancy pulled out a picture that was taped together, showing it to Olivia and Jonathon. Liv immediately recognized it as one of the pictures that Steve had ripped apart.

Jonathon took the photo and looked at it closely. "It looks like it could be some kind of perspective distortion, but I wasn't using the wide angle. I don't know. It's weird." He handed the photograph back to Nancy.

"And you're sure you didn't see anyone else out there?" Olivia asked. "Maybe a blonde girl, same height as me, wearing a tye-dye shirt and a jean jacket?"

Jonathon shook his head. "No."

Olivia looked down at the ground. "Barb was there one second, and then she was..." Jonathon trailed off. "Gone. I figured she bolted."

"The cops think that she ran away, but they don't know Barb." Nancy said. "They don't know Sam either. They asked if she ever mentioned anything about running away. She wouldn't do that without telling me first." Liv voiced.

Nancy continued to speak. "When I went back to Steve's, and I thought I saw something. Some weird man or... I don't know what it was." She looked at Jonathon in silence before saying, "I'm sorry. I... I shouldn't have come here today. I'm so sorry." She got up from the seat.

"Come on, Olivia." Nancy grabbed her arm, and the two went to walk out the door. "What did he look like?" Jonathon stopped them. The two girls turned around to look at him.

Olivia hadn't seen the creature yet, so she couldn't describe it.

"What?" Nancy questioned. "This man you saw in the woods. What'd he look like?" Jonathon asked.

"I don't know." Nancy stammered. "It was almost like he... he didn't - " She was cut off by Jonathon. "Didn't have a face?"

The group fell silent.

Nancy looked at him, confused. "How did you know that?"
