Letting Go

Where should I put thee,
So that I'll remember you well?
To honour your memory,
Denying sadness' dwell.

Should I place you aloft,
Out of mere mortals' eyes?
And where each time I look,
I have to raise tear-stained eyes.

Should I keep you well hidden,
In a case in the loft,
Where one day I'll wake up,
And you'll be forgot?

Should I give you away,
To an owner who will,
Remember you differently,
But remember you still?

Perhaps now's the time,
For me to let go,
And let you fly high,
So that the heavens may know.
