Nina POV.
Did you like the pancake?" Artor asked as he cleaned the table, I was tired of eating alone. After sharing cake with Kyros I couldn't enjoy my meals alone.
"It was great , thank you." My mind couldn't concentrate on anything but Kyros. He was a real gentleman , so handsome , so soft but I don't have a good background with boys , whenever I tried to give someone a chance . I end up losing my own pride and ego.
Flashback:
There was a boy in high school that slowly caught my attention , he would stop everyone in front of the door just for me to pass by . That's how he got my attention. I could hear everyone gossiping about us , he was thin and short with long hair and round glasses , later I realised his name was Max. I couldn't call him my ideal type but his attention was new to me , until one day. His best friend ran toward me , he seemed so nervous "Nina can I use your phone?"
I didn't hesitate to give it to him , "I forgot my phone and I can't find Max. I want to call him." He continued explaining as he dialled Max.
I was thinking about how smart he was to memorise his friend's phone number. But he hung up without talking to him and gave me the phone back.
"he just wanted your number." My friend Rose whispered. That was the first time my heart beat faster. After a few minutes Max called me "excuse me , did you call this number?" His voice still rings in my head.
Phobos brought me back to the present time . "Nina , I'm talking to you . Come play with us."
Phobos and Deimos were standing in front of me , I had no idea when they got in the room or when Artor left. "What game?" I was confused by their sudden request.
"Table football." Deimos snapped impertinently . I was about to decline the offer , because I had no idea how to play that game. But Deimos didn't let me respond, "I saved your life, you own me."
I sighed , I guess he wanted to blackmail me with this forever, "Fine ." It was a good Idea to accept the game , this way I couldn't overthink.
I followed them lazily , the table was placed in the backyard . I think this place is their game club . "You actually come ? Are you ready to lose?" Ares was in actual clothes waiting for us.
If I knew he was going to play too I wouldn't accept to play this. "She is in my team "Phobos stood beside me , Ares and Deimos stood right in front of us.
They showed no mercy , they were doing magic with their hands . It all happened so fast that I didn't realise when we lose to them.
"Hah, losers!" Ares cheered as he set a new record for most goals in less than thirty minutes.
I didn't get the time to be sad about the punishment when Deimos stepped to our side ."Punishment time ... " he suddenly attacked Phobos. They were fighting and pulling each other until Ares joined Deimos.
They carried Phobos by the pool and threw him in.
If I knew losing in this game had such a hard punishment, I would take it more seriesly . I don't want to catch a cold.
"Nina's turn." Ares turned to face me , we had eye contact for a second before I ran back to the house at full speed. I could hear him following me .
I was running aimlessly until I saw Kyros standing in the middle of the living room while talking to his dad. That's the best place to go for protection.
"KYROS save me." I shout . He was shocked , his face showed fear , he didn't expect to see me run to him like a bullet out of the blue.
Thank God I reached him in time. Before Ares could get a grip of me. I stood behind Kyros and held his sleeve in my fist. He stood there like a giant wall.
"Come here Nina , we are just playing." Ares folded his hands , waiting for me.
"She doesn't like your games Ares , leave her alone." Kyros finally understood the problem. He held my hand and kept me behind him. Ares raised his hand to grab me but Kyros blocked him again and snapped "No!"
"But a game without punishment is not fun , she is a cheater." Deimos glared at me. He could kill me with bare hands at the moment.
"Noona is coming at any moment , behave." Mr.King blamed them . That was the only way to end the discussion.
The Car brake made everyone look around , I could see the front yard throw the giant windows.
I tilted my head , that's grandma? She wasn't any ordinary grandma , she was riding a bike ! And two black SUV cars were following her. She was wearing leather clothes from head to toe and had a pair of black boots. She is a gangster , I think I'm in trouble.
"Noona!" Phobos walked in dripping wet , instead of changing his clothes he ran to his grandmother and everyone else did the same. They went to welcome their beloved grandmother.
I stood there awkwardly , they were speaking Italian and glared at me through the window once in a while. They have so much to gossip about me. I wish I could understand Italian.
After a long discussion , grandma walked in the house alone. Oh , no . Here comes the trouble. Her footsteps filled the room . Biting my lips is not enough to calm me down and deep breath technique doesn't work . I need vodka.
"So this is you, my legendary Belona." Her white hair looked stylish on her , she looked extra beautiful despite her age, now I know why all the cousins look so good.
"Hello , nice to meet you...." I wasn't sure how to address her , she is not my grandma after all.
"Delicious." She pinched my chin, I gulped. What's wrong with this one? Is she a cannibal?
"Answer fast." She kept analysing me up and down , I'm not comfortable at all . I feel like a lazy student standing in front of the class for a presentation that I didn't study for.
"One of the Kings is the fire element , who is it?" Her question surprised me, I didn't see this coming. Fire ? Why should anyone be the fire?
She got bored by my long pause and shouted "fast."
I gulp and spit the word without thinking about it any longer. "Ares..... Ares King."
"Hummm , not so bad . Now who is the earth and wind?" I wanted to reply to her as fast as she finished her sentence but it's getting weirder. What is she talking about?
She seemed bored. I had to say something before she got mad . "Maybe ... Deimos and Phobos ... King " I murmured unsure.
She had a pleased smile on her face and walked around me in a circle "what about Kyros? What is his element?"
This time , I didn't need to even think about it , I answered quickly "water." Although I didn't have any idea of what elements she was talking about . I knew one thing for sure . Kyros is the water , he is calm and smooth . He could flow in anyone's mind.
She signalled to the Kings who were waiting patiently outside to walk in and get the result of my examination.
"She is our Nina , right?" Phobos was still wet and curies.
I wasn't sure what I wanted to hear. On one hand I want to go back to my normal life , on the other hand I don't like to fail the exam in front of everyone. Nobody like to lose.
"I'm sorry , I think you found the wrong Nina." She announced , I had a moment of disappointment but I gathered myself soon and changed my desire on going back home. I could see their sad faces . Deimos spoke under his breath "what a waste." I felt guilty to give them fake hopes when I had nothing special to be a legendary girl.
"Well I guess its time for me to leave" I tiptoed toward the door in the background when Kyros blocked my way.
"Why?" What's wrong with him ! Does he want me to stay here even though I wasn't the Nina they were looking for?
"Noona!" Kyros warned his grandmother ,and she burst into laughter. I can say her laughter is the ugliest sound I ever heard.
"You got me, of course she is our Nina."
