No P.O.V

We find ourselves in a courtroom, the walls and ceiling lined with marble and gold. Where there would be seats on the ground, there were balconies where those in attendance would look down to the ground floor at who was speaking. At the moment, a male angel in clothing befitting that of a renaissance architect stood and spoke out to the courtroom gathering, concluding his case.

Architect Angel: "And that is why we need more land coverage for expanding the residential district. Afterall, we don't need new souls to sleep on the streets after arriving from the mortal realm, do we?"

Angels in attendance began to converse with one another, agreeing and nodding to the angel's words.

On a balcony higher then the others, we see Y/N and an angel looking down on the room. The angel next to Y/N is a beautiful dark skinned woman in a dress, the dress itself covers her whole body in a mix of white, grey, and light blue. The woman is as tall as Y/N, white freckles dot under her blue/white eyes, her white/grey hair just reaches her waistline with it turning more grey than white past her neck, six white/grey wings line her back, and a white halo floats above her head with said halo resembling more of a crown than anything else, with blue dots lining it like gems would. This is Sera, a seraphim of Heaven and older sister to seraphim Emily.

Y/N, after seeing all the nodding heads and verbal agreements of his fellow angels in attendance, turns to Sera before nodding his helmed head. With this, Sera smiles before clearing her throat, gaining the attention of all present in the room.

Sera: "It would seem that this court has reached an agreement. More land will be given to the Builders Guild to expand the residential district, giving new souls a place in Heaven to call home."

Once more, the room fills with voices of agreements and nodding heads. The Architect couldn't help but smile.

Architect Angel: *small bow* "My thanks, High Seraphim. And the thanks of many new souls yet to reach Heaven."

Once again, Sera gives a smile before speaking up.

Sera: "Court adjourned."

With that, all angels in attendance disperse from the room, leaving Y/N and Sera as the only ones left. Y/N turns to Sera before giving a small sigh.

Y/N: "Another day, another court session done with."

Sera: *chuckles* "Indeed. At least it was a simple matter of expansion."

Y/N: "True, but it could have been another district renovation case. Light knows how long those cases go for..."

Sera: "Very true, though don't speak too soon. It has been a century since the last one, so we might get one here soon."

Y/N couldn't help but give a playful sigh.

Y/N: "Another day in Heaven."

Sera: "And another day in eternity. Come, fly with me."

Y/N didn't have a reason not to, especially with Sera, so he obliged and the two took flight.

Upon exiting the courthouse, Y/N and Sera are greeted with the sight that is Heaven before taking to it's sky and flying. Buildings reminiscent of Earth's current modern age filled the landscape, some small while others towered above the rest. Honestly if a new soul arrived to Heaven, they probably could mistake it all as a cleaner more grandeur version of some of Earth's metropolises. Souls, both mortal and heavenborn, went about their lives. Some of the souls even noticed the two angels in the sky and waved at them, with said angels either returning the gesture or giving a simple nod.

Sera: *content sigh* "I never get tired of this view."

Y/N looked over to Sera, a smile visible on her face as she looked on the near endless domain that was Heaven. Y/N's reaction wasn't made clear, but the light in his wings seemed to glow just a bit brighter.

Y/N: "Well, I can think of a few better views than this."

Sera looked towards Y/N, his shadowed gaze never leaving her. This caused her to lightly blush before giving an amused laugh.

Sera: "Thousands of years and you still can't think of anything less cheesy?"

Y/N only slightly shrugs before looking ahead.

Y/N: "Still works, does it not?"

Sera: "It has it's moments."

Y/N gives a small laugh before continuing his flight with Sera. It was moments like these that the two cherished, where neither of them were burdened with responsibilities and they could be themselves around each other. It made them almost forget about the troubles that the future would bring. Almost.

Y/N: "So, any plans for New Year's Eve?"

Sera lost her smile for a moment before quickly regaining it, something that Y/N almost didn't notice.

Sera: "Well, I need to go over some documents and take account of the souls that entered Heaven this year. On top of that, I still need to tutor Emily on her studies and responsibilities."

Her response came quick and precise. Something that she has repeated for a few centuries now.

Y/N: "No rest for the weary. But you should take some time off, let someone else worry about the work for a change."

Y/N couldn't help but let his gaze drift to the tallest tower in Heaven, the one he and Sera were currently heading towards, specifically the top floor.

Y/N: *low grumble* "Let someone get off their ass..."

Sera: "What was that?"

Sera looked at Y/N with a curious expression, not entirely hearing what he said. Y/N merely gave a shake of his head.

Y/N: "Nothing. Look, we're here."

Descending from the sky, both Y/N and Sera arrive at the ground floor of the tower. Souls milling about the entrance of the tower make way for the two angels landing before going about their business. Y/N turns to Sera before sighing.

Y/N: "Well, I wish you luck. I'm off to check in on some things before the eve begins. Make sure to say hi to Em for me."

Sera smiles before moving closer to Y/N and touching her forehead against his helmet, she's able to barely make out the silver ember orbs that are Y/N's eyes from the darkness. Y/N doesn't protest but leans into the gesture.

Sera: "I will. Take care of yourself."

After a moment, they step away from each other before Y/N takes flight and heads off. Sera stays a moment, a smile still on her face before she drops it somberly.

Sera: "Maybe one day..."

With that, she enters the tower.

Howdy! It's been a minute! So, this should have been out a while ago, but life and a small bit of writers block got in the way. That and fighting for Liberty and Managed Democracy... *cough* *cough*

Originally, this chapter was supposed to be a lot longer. But since I've been blue balling everyone for about a month, I decided I would cut the chapter, that I am still currently writing up, into different sections and post 'em here and there. That way, I'm able to give you all something to read that'll, hopefully, satiate your hunger for the time being while also giving me some breathing room. That and you all don't need a wall of text this early lol. Anyways, let me know what you all think!

Oh! Before I forget, a HUGE thank you to TheDarkEmperor for helping me with the story so far! He helped me when I was banging my head against a brick wall when it came to progressing the story and for some of the dialogue. Massive shout out to him, so do me a favor and check him out, I know he would appreciate that and I would as well.

With all that out of the way, I hope you all have a wonderful day/night! Cheers!
