The next day at Auradon Prep, Cody was with his girlfriend as Audrey noticed all the girls with their hair different. Mal quietly follows Cody as Cody stops by his locker. Mal opens her locker, waiting for the opportunity for Audrey to leave so she can give the love potion to Cody. As Mal pretends to put stuff away in her locker, Jay comes by her.
Jay: Are you feeling kinda weird about this? I mean, it's not so bad here, you know.
Mal: Are you insane? Long live evil! You're mean! You're awful! You're bad news! Snap out of it!
Mal snaps her fingers at Jay, putting some sense into him.
Jay: Thanks, Mal. I needed that.
Jay walks over to talk with the girls while Audrey walks over to her boyfriend.
Audrey: Do you think they actually paid for those?
Cody turns and sees the girls with their new hairstyles and Jay speaking with them as Audrey continues.
Audrey: She did it to Jane's hair, too, and Fairy Godmother's not happy about it.
Cody: What's the harm in that?
Audrey: It's gateway magic! Sure, it starts with the hair! Next thing you know it's the lips and the legs and the clothes and then everybody looks good and then where will I be?
Cody: Listen, Audrey...
Audrey: I will see you at the game after my dress-fitting for the coronation, okay?
Cody: Okay.
Audrey: Bye, Cody
Audrey gives Cody a kiss on the cheek and walks away.
Cody: Bye...
Taking the opportunity, Mal closes her locker.
Mal: Hey, Codyboo!
Cody turns and sees Mal.
Cody: Hey. How's it going?
Mal: I just made a batch of cookies. Double chocolate chip, do you want one?
Cody: I got a big game. I don't eat before a big game. But thank you so, so much. Thank you. Next time. Next time.
Mal: No, yeah. I completely understand. "Be careful of treats offered by kids of villains."
Cody: No, no, no. That's not what I meant--
Mal: No, I'm sure every kid in Auradon knows that.
Cody: No, no. That's not it. No, no, no. I really do.... I have...
Mal: No, I get it. You're cautious. That's smart. Oh, well, more for me, I guess.
As Mal goes to take a bite from the cookie, Cody snatches it from Mal and takes a bite from it.
Cody: See that? Totally trust you.
Mal looks at her friends, knowing that the plan worked.
Mal: How are they?
Cody: They're good. They're great! They're amazing! They're... I mean, they're chewy and, you know, they... Is that walnuts?
Mal nods her head yes to Cody's question.
Cody: I love walnuts! I mean, you know, the chocolate... The chocolate... Chocolate chips are... I'm sorry, um... They're warm and soft. And they're sweet...
Mal finally realizes that the love spell has finally taken effect on Cody. Cody looks at Mal and smiles.
Cody: Mal, have you always had those little golden flecks in your eyes?
As Cody goes to take another bite, Mal takes the cookie from him. Jay walks behind Cody and places both his hands on Cody.
Jay: How you feeling, bro?
Cody: I feel... I feel... I feel like... Like singing your name. 🎶Mal🎶
Mal covers Cody's mouth so no one can hear him.
An hour later, the big Tourney game starts and the cheerleaders of Auradon Prep cheer and dance for the team with the school mascot aiding the cheerleaders.
Jay: Get 'em, Chad!
Chad: Thanks, Jay.
Chad runs to the field to join his other teammates.
Coach: You're up, Jay!
Jay gets excited, but wants Carlos to be there as well.
Jay: Coach, how about my buddy here?
Carlos: Oh, no.
Coach: Not so sure about that.
Jay: Coach, he's been practicing. And you said yourself, a team is made up of a bunch of parts.
Carlos: Jay, I'm not that good.
Jay: Well, he's kinda like my brain.
Coach calls a teammate back and allows Carlos to join the others. The game starts as Jay works together with his teammates and Carlos helps as well. They don't make goal at the first half. But with the help of Carlos and Jay, Ben scores and they win. As everyone cheers, Cody goes over to the announcer and takes the golden microphone.
Cody: Excuse me. Excuse me. Can I have everyone's attention, please?
Everyone goes silent as Cody gets up on the shooter stand.
Cody: There's something I'd like to say.
Everyone gets confused of what is going on as Cody yells.
Cody: GIVE ME AN "M"!
All: M!
Cody: Give me an "A"!
All: A!
Cody: Give me "L"!
All: L!
Cody: WHAT DOES THAT SPELL?
All: MAL!
Cody: COME ON, I CAN'T HEAR YOU!
All: MAL!
Cody: I love you, Mal! Did I mention that?
Everyone starts cheering for Mal that someone is in love with her. Audrey whimpers and runs away.
Cody: Hey, Doug. GIVE ME A BEAT!
Doug: UNO DOS TRES CUATROS!
The music starts playing as Cody starts getting into his dancing style.
Mal: What was in that cookie?

Audrey suddenly takes the microphone from Cody.
Audrey: Chad's my boyfriend now and I'm going to the coronation with him, so I don't need your pity date.
Audrey kisses Chad and Evie starts getting jealous. Cody takes back the microphone as Audrey and Chad walk away.
Cody: Mal, will you go to the coronation with me?
Mal: Yes!
Cody: SHE SAID YES!
Everyone starts cheering again as Ben and Jay come to Cody.
Ben: Come on, bro!
Jay: The whole team's waiting for you.
Cody goes back to the team as everyone starts cheering for Jay, Ben, Cody, and Carlos.
The next day at Auradon Prep, Mal was putting away her stuff and as she closed her locker, Cody appeared and almost startled her.
Cody: Hey!
Mal: Hey.
Cody: Hey, do you have any plans later?
Mal: I don't think so. Why?
Cody: I was wondering if you're wanting to go on a date with me today? After school?
Mal: Sure! I'd like that!
Cody: Okay, I'll see you till then.
As Cody leaves, Mal totally starts to get frustrated as she's never been on a date before. Feeling the need for help, she looks for Evie to help her. After a few moments of searching, she finds Evie talking with Doug.
Mal: There you are! I have been looking for you literally everywhere!
Evie: What's wrong?
Mal: Cody just asked me out on... A date.
Doug: Nice.
Evie: We can handle this. Bye.
Doug: Bye.
Evie and Mal walk as Evie starts stating what to do.
An hour later, Cody was wearing a red T-shirt with a black leather jacket over it with also light blue pants and nice looking shoes.
Cody makes it to Mal's dorm as he was holding two helmets. Cody knocks on the doors. The door opens revealing Mal in a beautiful dress.
Cody: For the first time, I understand the difference between pretty and beautiful. And you are beautiful, Mal!
Mal chuckles at his comment.
Cody: I hope you like bikes.
Mal and Cody leave with Evie shutting the door.
A few moments later, Cody is on his bike, riding it in the Enchanted Forest with Mal at the back.
After hours of driving, Cody and Mal enters the Enchanted Forest and walk on a wooden rope bridge.
Cody: Tell me something about yourself that you've never told anyone.
Mal: Um... My middle name is Bertha.
Cody: Bertha?
Mal: Yeah. Just my mom doing what she does best. Being really, really evil. Mal Bertha.
Cody: Mine's Sentai.
Mal: Sentai? How princely. That's almost worse.
Cody: I mean, you know, it's better than Bertha.
A few minutes later, Cody had Mal close her eyes as he leads her down a small hill of the Enchanted Forest.
Cody: You ready? Open.
Mal opens her eyes and sees where the date is set up.
Mal is in awe at the sight.
Mal: Wow. It's so beautiful.
Cody: Ben helped me set all of this up.
A few moments later, Cody and Mal enjoy their date snacks.
Cody: Is this your first time?
Mal: We don't really date much on the island. It's more like gang activity.
Cody: Um... I meant, is this your first time eating a jelly donut.
Mal: Is it bad?
Cody helps Mal clean the white sugar powder off her face. The two then chuckle.
Mal: You can't take me anywhere, I guess.
Cody: You know, I've done all the talking. Your turn. I really don't know that much about you. Tell me something.
Mal: Well, I'm 16. I'm an only child. And I've only lived in one place.
Cody: I'm 16, too. And only lived in one place. That... We have so much in common already.
Mal: No. Trust me, we do not.But you have a brother who is going to be King.
Cody looks down as Mal notices.
Mal: What?
Cody: I once said the same thing to my brother. But he told me that the crown doesn't make you a King.
Mal: Well, it kind of does.
Cody: No, it... Your mother is Mistress of Evil and me and my brother got the poster parents for goodness. But we're not automatically like them. We get to choose who we're gonna be. And right now, I can look into your eyes and I can tell you're not evil. I can see it.
Mal is speechless, hearing from someone who she really is and someone that cares for her.
Cody: How about we go for a swim?
Mal: What? Right now?
Cody gets up and gestures Mal to come with him.
Cody: Come on. Yeah, right now.
Mal: I think I'm just gonna stay here.
Cody: No, no, no. Come on.
Mal: I think I'm gonna stay behind and try a strawberry. I've literally never tried a strawberry before.
Mal takes a bite of the strawberry, but realizes that they are really good.
Cody: Don't eat all of them.
Mal: Okay.
Cody leaves and Mal eats some more strawberries. A few moments later, Cody is on the rocks as he has no shirt on with only his swimming shorts with stars showing.
Mal sees him and she gets him and watches him as he waves at her before she calls out.
Mal: Are those little stars on your shorts?
Cody: Maybe.
Cody jumps off the rocks as he cheers and lands in the water. Mal laughs as Cody swims to a nearby cave as Mal returns to the lunch. Mal starts thinking of what Cody had said. Maybe he was right. Maybe she can choose to be who she wants to be instead of what her mother wants to be. Mal has a lot of thoughts in her head that she can't explain.

After singing, Mal looks around and suddenly, couldn't find Cody anywhere.
Mal: Cody? Cody? CODY?
Mal jumps in the water to find Cody, but as she swam too deep, she almost stayed to drawn. But Cody came just in time as he swam with her back to shore.
Mal: You scared me!
Cody: You can't swim?
Mal: No!
Cody: You live on an island!
Mal: Yeah, with a barrier around it, remember?
Cody: And you still tried to save me.
Mal: Yeah. And do you thank me? No! All I get is soaking wet!
Cody: And this fancy rock. It's yours. Make a wish and throw it back in the lake.
As Cody hands it to Mal, Mal just throws it back at the lake. Mal gets up and walks back to sit down while soaking wet. Cody grabs his jacket and puts it on Mal. As Cody sits down, he starts to gently stroke Mal's hair, which she notices and stops.
Cody: Um, Mal. I told you that I loved you. What about you? Do you love me?
Mal doesn't answer for a moment because she has never felt love before and she knew he only asked that was because of the effects of the love potion. Mal turns away from answering that question.
Mal: I don't know what love feels like.
Cody turns Mal's face over to him.
Cody: Maybe I can teach you.
Mal doesn't say anything as she just looks at Cody with belief.
