Nina POV.
As I laid on the fluffy king size bed , I recalled everything . So many things happened today , I never experienced a day like this . My life looked boring compared to what I experienced in this mansion .
Everything is so exciting here and the cousins don’t have any intention to hurt me but my chest feels tight , I miss my parents . I always felt responsible toward them. I should go back home.
I stood up and grabbed the cap that Kyros bought for me, he was right this came in handy.
I could remember all the possible ways to escape a situation like this thanks to the stories I’ve been reading in that orange app. But there is a huge difference , in my case the door is not locked and the window is open .
There isn’t any meanie maid who watches me or even a single guard around the yard or in front of the door. They should read some mafia story , what kind of mafia are they ?
I stepped toward the window , it was big and beautiful . I can see the view of the whole city from here . It’s dark outside and all the lights winked at me. “So beautiful.” I wish I could explore this city at peace , or at least know which city I am looking at ! must it be Milan , or Rome ? I would like any of these if I was free.
I felt dizzy the moment I looked down , this room was located on the second floor . Not too high right? If I went out of the window I could avoid any possible risk of getting caught.
“It’s just one floor , I won't die . I can land smoothly .” I encouraged myself as I climbed the handrail . My right side was hanging but I held myself tightly to the left side. I took a deep breath , closed my eyes . Ready to jump.
One , two , three …
I pushed myself to fall down but a pair of strong hand pulled me back with full force. I was expecting to land on the grass in the yard but I landed on a soft spot.
To be honest , on a soft man.
I slowly turned to see who was under me, Kyros had one of his eyes closed in pain . He must hurt his shoulder or something. I gulped “Hello Kyros.”
I got off of him and watched him cleaning his clothes . “Didn’t you promise me Nina?”
I played with my fingers , I didn't have anything left to say in my defence . I broke a promise and was found red handed . At the worst time possible.
“Get in.” He snapped, grabbed my arm and pushed me in , locking the balcony’s door behind him. I guess I lost the minimum freedom that I had.
I felt a shiver go down my spine , the way he grabbed my hand was too harsh for him . He must be really angry this time. “Sorry ..” I murmured and closed my eyes, ready to get blamed but a soft pat on my knee surprised me.
I checked him to see he was trying to shake the dust off from my pants by patting it softly. “What if you got hurt?” His voice showed concern not anger.
His gentle behaviour left me speechless. “I didn’t lock the door so you won't do anything stupid just to get out of here , but you still chose the hard way.”
“What did you do with that orange hair man ?” I asked my long awaited question , but maybe I could’ve asked more politely. He stopped everything he was doing , raised his eyebrow and glared at me. “That has nothing to do with me. Police arrested the murderer already.”
I was dumb to ask such a question , He felt betrayed that I doubted him.
Meanwhile something caught my attention, a mini red cake was on the table. Kyros noticed my gaze.
“Since it's valentine's day , I wanted to eat it with you.” He stood up and fixed his coat , disappointed with everything that I did . “Never mind , you can eat it.”
He walked toward the door with heavy steps . Any sad song could match his walk. I had no idea that he could be so sensitive.
“Kyros…” the door shut before I got the chance to say anything more. Good job Nina , once in a blue moon someone cared about you and you immediately broke his heart , and pride. It was so nice of him to think about a valentine gift for me. It’s the very first gift I received for valentine.
I analysed the cake , it's covered with red jelly and has beautiful small hearts all over it . “He didn't bring a spoon.” I talked to myself. but it looked like he heard me .
Kyros came back with a tray that had two small plates with fork and knife plus two cups of coffee . He had his sweet small back and his eyes sparked with joy . “ I can’t let you eat it all alone , I'm not that rude.” He chuckled and sat on the chair beside me.
It's a drum concert going on in my chest . What’s wrong with me , I’ve never felt this way . My heart flattered as soon as my eyes met his.
His perfume smelled so good , I bet he just wore it and fixed his appearance before getting in again. And I'm sitting all dusty in front of him.
He started cutting the cake when I finally got back to my senses . “I'm sorry for what I said earlier.”
He nodded and laughed it off and handed me the cake. It's so beautiful even though the inside of the cake is red . I couldn’t stop drooling from the cake’s view.
“It’s ok I can never get mad at you , Nina … our dearest Nina.” He was holding the fork in his hand , I just noticed how big his hand was compared to the fork. It seemed like he was playing with doll house furniture.
“I know you’re scared, but it’s different for us. We were waiting for you , our Nina, for ten years. It feels like you lived here with us all this time.” His explanation touched my heart , it sounded like they didn't lie about their grandmother’s prediction. They all were waiting for me, or someone with my name. Can I really be that special girl?
“Did you see your father? He came here today.” I changed the subject. I don't feel comfortable hearing about Nina , because i didn't know if it's me or not , So i'm not sure how to react . Should I say thank you ? Then what if I'm not even the destined Nina , should I ignore whatever he said ? Then that would be super rude.
“As soon as I reached home the guard showed me a cute hanging leg of Miss. Nina . So I couldn’t go check on dad” He giggled and sipped the coffee.
“Guard?” I gulp doubting my vision . Are they invisible? I never saw anyone walk around the house.
“Well you might not see them but they are here.” I gave him a confused look , I was thinking about a special jinni guard or something.
“This is a smart house, there are cameras all around the house and our guards are in the basement mentoring everything.” I blinked a few times while processing the information so that’s how Kyros always catches me on time.
I should’ve read more modern mafia stories for times like this. Kyros used my dumbfounded moment and pushed a huge piece of cake in my mouth with a playful smile.
I was shocked at first but the cherry jelly slowly melted in my mouth and seduced me to swallow it . I ate it with so much difficulty “hum , Yummy!” I cheered so loud , it made him laugh “you are so cute.”
