𝕾UMINAR WAS HAVING such a good time. work was done meaning she could just relax and enjoy herself at this festival with her friends. tinecia finally got to see max again, since he'd been across the globe with dominic.
"what if i get motion sick? alright, i have to perform!" dominic exclaims and everyone groans out loud.
"nigga, get in the fucking ferris wheel. you're holding everyone up," giovanna sternly instructs and isabella, who was sat next to her adds on, "literally. like- stop being a pussy."
he grumbles, deciding that was convincing enough as he gets in the seat next to suminar. giovanna and isabella were dating now so they rode together, as did max and tinecia and omar and wei were arguing about some rap beef they saw on twitter so they were already sitting together.
"you did something scary playing matchmaker with those two."
"you're in the cart now, so i don't think i did," suminar says back and with that, the ferris wheel was up and in the air.
it was kinda nice, to have him so close to her after not seeing him in person for so long. he'd been calling and texting the whole time he was away, since they got along so well it was impossible to stay out of touch, so nothing felt unfamiliar.
"i'm gonna be on nardwuar, by the way. can you believe that shit?" dominic tells and she literally jumps up and down in excitement so much she slightly rocks the cart. she stops and clasps her hand over her mouth in slight fear which just eventually makes them both laugh uncontrollably.
"nardwuar, though? bro, i've wanted you to go on his show for the longest. i'm so excited for you, dude!"
"yeah? 'cause i was gonna ask if you wanted to come with but—"
"don't even say anymore, you already know what the answer to that is," she puts a hand in his face and jokingly he pushes it out of his way. what he doesn't do is let go. they're basically holding hands the whole ride after that.
while it seemed awfully romantical of them to do it, she didn't once pull away. only when it was time for everyone to get out. when he did let go, she just wanted him to hold her hand again. hold her.

God, what is wrong with me?
while dom went off to get ready, suminar had a bunch of fun meeting some of her favourite artists and fans of hers. one of which was sza, who was even more majestic in person and beebadoobee, who had such good energy. she made a mental note to interview almost everyone she met in the future.
dominic was performing his set soon enough, which was always a treat in her eyes. she'd also come to this form of acceptance when it came to him. she'd finally realised that, in the midst of their sudden closeness and previous romantic feelings, that:
"me and him are so much better being friends! i mean- imagine we became something. God, it'd complicate so many things. besides, i don't think he ever liked me so i'm glad i didn't say anything. i didn't need to deal with that rejection," she explains to tinecia, max and wei while they were backstage.
suddenly, the candy floss that was in her hand was snatched by wei, because "stupid bitches don't deserve candy." giovanna and isabella decided this was too straight for them, and snuck off to go make out somewhere shortly after.
while suminar was arguing her point, dominic had a message for the camp flog gnaw crowd. "so... this last song... is a cover and i'd be uh- i'd be lying if i said this song wasn't of any significance but... it really is. i don't wanna say anything else, i just wanna perform it for you. is that cool?"
the crowd cheers loudly as the first few chords of the joy again song plays, since everyone immediately recognises it.
"i'm not stupid, i- max," she turns to him, who had tinecia wrapped up infront of him with his arms, "you know that nigga to a t. and you also know he's charismatic as fuck. if he liked me, he would've say something about it by now!"
him and tinecia share a look, and she tilts her head at him. clearly there was something they both knew that she didn't. they say an entire conversation with their eyes, meaning there was a brief moment of silence.
"just show her the post! oh my God, show her the instagram post," tinecia exclaims, burying her head in her hands and max just sighs. "okay. this does count as snitching, though, so if somethin' doesn't happen here then—"
"you know how dom never added you to his finsta, babe? 'cause he claimed it was boring and shit..." tinecia trails off and wei immediately has a shit-eating grin on her face, eating some candy floss and muttering something about 'she knew it'.
suminar shrugs, confused so she finally gets max's phone handed to her (and ofcourse wei reads over her shoulder). it was dominic's spam account, a picture of fenders. it was the caption that made her blink a little hard. something about a woman he claimed was handcrafted by Jesus...
"surely..." she looks up and max just nods, confirming the thought in her head. "oh. oh fuck," she mumbles.
"i'm dead. this bitch said 'is this fucking play about us?'" wei snorts out a laugh as max gets his phone back. she's still quite confused and tinecia was just about to explain things further when max grabs her by the shoulders and spins her around.
"listen, suminar. just listen, alright?" he tells her.
which is exactly what she does.
her head felt like it was spinning and this unexpected heat rushes through her entire body. she didn't want to gas herself up and feel like him and her were the only people in this festival but he wasn't helping her case. his hair was wild infront of his face, veins protruding from his neck as he sung the world feral, clutching the mic the way he held her hand.
her ears were blocked, making all outside noise muffled. when it came to him, though, she heard every word. he was singing the words right to her. he was looking her straight in the eyes. he was looking at her the way she only wished he would.
