Freya's POV

"How do you know how to do all of this?" Jordyn Huitema asks as I sit back in my chair after starting a fire in the fire pit I have in my back yard.

The Canadian national team ladies are our June friendly window opponents and we're all hanging out at my home tonight.

We're also going to do a joint training camp with them in July so it looks like we're going to be really acquainted with the Canadians.

"Kinda need fire to survive when your tracking someone." I say.

"Tracking someone?" Adriana Leon asks.

"Mhmm." I say.

"Who'd you track?"

Guess this is gonna be an ask Freya questions type of night.

Yippee.

"Can't say." I say as Raven snuggles into me.

"Do you track people a lot?" Ashley Sanchez asks.

"Only if they need to be found." I say.

"What's the longest you've hunted someone?" Naomi Girma asks.

"I tracked a very bad man for 6 months through Southeast Asia." I say.

"6 months?" A bunch of people say.

"Yep." I say. "I'd be happy to never do that again."

"Auntie Free Free." Hazel Harris says as she and the other kids come over to me.

"Yes Munchkin?" I say.

"This talks boring." Hazel says making everyone laugh.

"Whatcha wanna talk about?" I question.

"You sing the moon song?"

"Moon song?" I question.

"You sang it yesterday." Kingsley Harris says.

"Oh." I say as I remember what song they're talking about. "Well that song only gets sung if you kiddos are sitting in your parents' laps."

Rather quickly all the kids go and sit with their parents.

Once all the kids are with their parents I start singing.

Who was I to deserve such a love?
Who was I to have her holding me up?
If there's some kind of sign in the stars, it wasn't revealed
I talk about light in the dark, but it hasn't come here

I can't explain all the doubt that's within
I can't erase memories of places we've been
If the world ever fucked with my heart, she always stepped in
There's a version of life that I want, but it wasn't like this

The party's over, she's not coming back
I'd give up all the world for just one Sunday that we had
In time, I will heal
The moonlight's on the open road,
Tonight it's not so bad

Used to try write it down in a word
But no phrase could come close to her worth
To witness the way that she moved, and how she stayed still
Was a beauty I haven't seen since and I never will

The party's over, she's not coming back
I'd give up all the world for just one Sunday that we had
In time, I will heal
The moonlight's on the open road,
Tonight it's not so bad

Who am I to curse the past?
Just cause magic didn't last
You're one of few, girl
Who can safely say they had
Somebody truly love them back

The party's over, she's not coming back
I'd give up all the world for just one Sunday that we had
In time, I will heal
The moonlight's on the open road,
Tonight it's not so bad

"Again." Lanie Martin says with a giggle.

"Oh alright." I say with a smile then I sing one of the Irish folksongs my grandma and Mama taught me.

I wish I was in Carrickfergus
Only for nights in Ballygrand
I would swim over the deepest ocean
The deepest ocean, for my love to find
But the sea is wide and I can't swim over
And neither have I the wings to fly
I wish I could find a handy boatman
To ferry me over to my love and die

My childhood days bring back sad reflections
Of happy days, so long ago
My girlhood friends and my old relations
Have all passed on now like the melting snow
So spend my days in endless roving
Soft as grass, my bed is free
Oh, to be home now, in Carrickfergus
On the long road down, to the salty sea
And in Kilkenny, it is rеported
On marble stone as black as ink
With gold and silvеr, I did support her
But I sing no more now 'til I get a drink
I'm drunk today, I'm rarely sober
A handsome rover from town to town
Oh, but I'm sick now and my days are numbered
Come all ye young men and lay me down

"More Irish." Kehlani Nwigwe cheers making me smile then I sing another Irish folksong.

Of all the money that e'er I had
I spent it in good company
And all the harm I've e'er done
Alas it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit
To mem'ry now I can't recall

So raise to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be to you all

And If I had money enough to spend
And leisure time to sit awhile
There is a fair maid in this town
That sorely has my heart beguiled.
Her rosy cheeks and ruby lips
She surely has my heart in thrall
So raise to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be with you all.

Of all the comrades that e'er I had
Who'll be sorry for my going away
And of all the sweethearts that e'er I known
Who'd bid me one more day to stay
But as it falls unto my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and I'll softly call
Good night and joy be to you all

"You sing pretty." Katara says.

"Thanks munchkin." I say.

"I'm guessing your Mama taught you those?" Lynn asks.

"Her and my grandma." I say.

"Do you remember any of the Irish language ones?" Cosette asks.

"Mhmm." I say. "But my voice hurts so I'm retiring for the night so I can be ready for the"

We've been rehearsing for Katana's upcoming concert and I'm singing backing vocals while also playing drums so my voice is a bit shot.

"Good plan French Fry." Cosette says. "That's a good plan."
