NEW YEARS EVE HAD FINALLY ROLLED AROUND AND TO SAY MISO WAS EXCITED FOR THE NEW YEAR WOULD BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT.

She walked hand in hand with her boyfriend, Nishimura Niki, as he lead her down a dirtied pathway in hopes of reaching the cities popular drive-in.

"Where are we going, Niki?" Miso wondered, her brows furrowed as she looked around, not recognizing the area. They were walking to the other side of the drive-in and the girl couldn't understand why.

"You should know me by now, Doll," Niki grinned, glancing down at her and pulling her into him, a chuckle leaving his lips. "When you're with me, nobody pays." He explained playfully as they approached a metal fence that was at the back of the drive-in.

At the bottom of the fence was a hole that showed the amount of times it had been used due to the metal being ripped up so that a body could fit under.

Miso felt Niki nudge her, before he stepped forward and climbed under the fence, brushing the sandy dirt from his body once he reached the other side and then he beckoned her through, his eyes darting around the area so that they wouldn't be caught.

"But what about my skirt?" Miso questioned, feeling anxious about not only being seen doing such an act, but also in case the flowy skirt she was wearing would hike up and reveal her undergarment.

A sigh left Niki's mouth as he smirked and shrugged off his jacket, holding it out in front of her without any hesitation so that nobody else could see her, and he turned his head away so that she wouldn't feel uncomfortable under his gaze.

Smiling to herself, Miso gratefully sighed and then, silently and anxiously, she mirrored the boys actions — a few groans leaving her mouth as she struggled to push herself under without trying to get dirty.

Eventually, once she was through, Niki helped her from the floor, making sure she was okay, before he wrapped his arm around her shoulder and they headed towards the seating area.

It was quite busy, and Miso's ears were consumed with the loud chatter and laughter of others, and her nose was filled with the scent of tobacco and freshly made popcorn. She couldn't help but feel nostalgic as she looked around, realizing that the last time she visited the drive-in was with her brother, and how she felt on edge because of Niki.

"I'm gonna get drinks and popcorn," Niki told her as she sat down on a seat and she bobbed her head and watched as he shoved a hand in his back pocket and headed towards to food stand.

As time passed, Miso glanced down at her freshly painted nails (which she'd done after wiping off Niki's nail polish) and bit down on her bottom lip, minding her own business — however, that was sadly disrupted by the sound of someone clearing their throat.

With furrowed brows, Choi Miso turned her head away from her nails and looked up at the figure that was standing over her and immediately, she felt as if the life had been sucked from her. Her eyes widened and her face drained all its colour.

"Kai..." She whispered, far too shocked to say it loud enough for him to hear. What was he doing here? And why was he bothering her?

A huff fell from his parted lips and he shoved both hands in his jean pockets, rocking back and forth in the balls of his feet awkwardly.

"Are you here alone?" He asked, and Miso silently shook her head. She didn't want to speak to him — not after their last interaction. She had nothing to say to him.

Huening Kai nodded his head, licking his lips before sitting down on (Niki's) the empty seat beside her.

"Are you here alone?" She turned the question, taking a glimpse at him and watching as he copied her actions, though he had a smirk on his lips instead of a frown like she did.

"My friends and I are here with our broads." He explained, nodding his head over in the direction they were all sat in on top of one of their trucks, and Miso couldn't help but smile at the thought of her ex-best friend finally having a girl.

Despite everything, she still loved and cared for him. He was in her life for years, and so it wouldn't be possible for her to have no feelings towards him. He was once like a second brother.

"You've got a girl?" Miso wondered, a breathy chuckle escaping her mouth as her brows raised in surprise and a smile tugged at her lips and Kai nodded his head. "Wow... I'm happy for you, Kai."

"Thanks..." He smiled, a long sigh coming from him as the atmosphere soon turned awkward. Miso bit down on her bottom lip, wanting nothing more than to escape to awkwardness and she looked away from him and down at her lap. She really hoped Niki would hurry up.

"Listen," Kai began, sitting up properly. "I shouldn't be have reacted the way I did — it was a dick move — but you can't blame me,"

And just when Choi Miso thought the boy she was once best friends with was returning and looking to redeem their friendship, he quickly messed it up, and the girl quickly realized he was just like all the other Socs. Selfish and narcissistic.

"I just found out my best friend was hanging with the enemy." Kai explained, causing Miso to scoff and shake her head slightly in disappointment as she rolled her eyes and turned to look at him.

"Did you just come here to finish the argument you walked out on? Or what? Because if it is, I don't —"

She was cut short by Kai sitting up straight and shaking his head. "No, you're right, I'm sorry. I just came over here to tell you that I don't want to lose you as a friend."

As much as Choi Miso wanted for forgive Huening Kai, she knew she couldn't.

"You lost me when you walked out on me, Kai..." She sadly spoke, her voice soft and she couldn't help but feel her heart strings tug at the sight of his upset eyes.

Kai's lips formed a tight line and he slowly stood up, awkwardly running his hand through his hair. He didn't know what to do with himself.

"Move it, old man." The two heard Nishimura Niki scoff, nudging past the stuck up boy with his hands filled with their drinks and food and he quickly handed them to Miso before they could fall from his clutch.

"I ain't no old man, Grease." Kai snapped, his entire tone and demeanor changing, instantly making Miso roll her eyes. She felt stupid for thinking a little bit of him had changed...

"Sure look it." Niki urged, a smirk on his lips as he looked down at the Huening boy. Niki wanted this. He loved seeing the angered look in the older boys eyes.

"Just go, Kai." Miso told him, and Kai glanced between the couple before huffing and walking away from the two. Miso wasn't in the mood to witness a fight tonight.

"What did he want?" Niki scrunched up his nose in disgust as he sat down and dipped his hand into the popcorn, shoving a handful of it into his mouth, only making Miso chuckle and shake her head.

"It don't matter." She stated, and quickly, the movie began.

Later that night, after the movie ended and the couple visited Heeseung and their friends to drink alcohol and play games, Niki and Miso interlocked their fingers as they walked through their meadow.

It was nearing midnight and they could already hear people celebrating, which only made it more exciting.

"The display of fireworks is really boss from here." Niki told her as they approached the tree, and Miso glanced up at him, her brow raised ever so slightly.

"You've been here before bringing me here?" She wondered, genuinely curious as she looked up at him, admiring his features under the glowing moonlight.

"Yeah," He shrugged, his eyes remaining on the clear night sky. "But only a few times." The boy grinned, looking away from the sky and down at Miso.

A comfortable silence overtook them both as they shared deep eye contact. They could feel the love they felt for one another in the air and their hearts pounded against their chests — desperate to break free and become one. They loved each other so much that it ached their body.

Suddenly, disturbing the silence they were in, was the loud noise of the fireworks. The display was beautiful. The fireworks were so many different colours and had so many different sounds and shapes that it sent shivers down Miso's spine as she watched them with a massive grin on her lips.

It was the New Year, and she was overjoyed with the fact she'd be going into the new year with the boy she loved most in the world.

"Happy New Year, Doll." Niki spoke up, gently touching her chin and turning her head so that she could face him so he could connect their lips. They could feel the power of love through the kiss, that's how strong it was.

Once pulling away, Niki grinned a mischievous grin and he pulled out the switchblade the younger girl had gifted him, before kneeling down by the tree.

Miso watched him intently and curiously, as he took his time carving into the tree. To say she was confused would be an understatement...

However, the Choi girls questions were answered once he backed away from the piece of nature. He had a proud look on his face as he looked at his 'art' and Miso felt her heart skip a beat at what he wrote.

N + M
TOGETHER FOREVER

Around the writing was a heart and Miso's cheeks burned with happiness and fluster. She truly loved Nishimura Niki, and nothing was ever going to change that, and so without another word, she took his blade from his hand and mirrored the position he was once in.

Niki watched with a smile on his lips, excited to see what the girl was going to create, and finally, once she was finished and stepped back, his eyes immediately softened and he felt his whole body twist with electricity and love.

NISHIMURA NIKI
+
NISHIMURA MISO

"I'm not a Choi..." Miso quietly announced, shaking her head slightly as a heavy feeling appeared in her chest. It was true. She wasn't a Choi and she doesn't think she ever was...

Niki licked his lips before he reached out and pulled the shorter girl into him, wrapping his arms around her waist after gently pushing her head against his chest and then he decorated the top of her head with his delicate kisses.

"That's okay," He whispered out, his voice weak. "You can have my name."
