A/N: I decided to put episodes 2-3 in this chapter to make it longer.

Because of everything that happened, mom decided that Jen and I could stay home from school today. Although she only really allowed Jennifer to stay, I kinda persuaded her to allow me to stay too.
We were outside, sitting on the steps, enjoying the fresh air, and on FaceTime with Khalil.
"We're all worried about you. You good?" Khalil said to Jennifer.
"Yeah, I'm good," Jen responded back.
"Look, it's like Fort Knox at school. There's security everywhere. When are y'all coming back?" Khalil asked.
"I don't really know," Jennifer said.
"I'll likely be back the next day, knowing how mom is," I said, but flinched as I got a smack on the back of my head from said person.
"Can I come by after?" Khalil asked me after laughing at my misfortune.
"Maybe tomorrow," I told him.
"Alright," he said.
"Y'all want to buy some candy?" Some kid asked as he came up to us.
"Hey, we'll talk later, Khalil," I said to as I ended the FaceTime.
"What you got, little man?" Jen asked.
"Lala says hi," the boy shouted as he took out a water gun and sprayed Jen with some red dye before running away.

The next night, Jen and I were sitting outside on the roof smoking a little bit of weed when Khalil poked his head through my bedroom window.
"Ooh. I'm sorry," Khalil said as he noticed Jen hid the joint. "It's good to see you, girl."
"It's good to see you too," Jen said.
"Aight, so... so, Black Lightning? I mean, you saw Black Lightning?Girl, that... Yo, that is pretty cool," Khalil said excitedly.
"Yeah, I was kind of scared because when you try and
look at his face, it hurts. I don't know. It's like looking into a spotlight," Jen explained to us.
"It's still pretty cool. You met a superhero! Who else can say that," I said excitedly while the other two laughed at me. "Sorry, it's just you guys know I'm basically a comic book nerd."
"What? Really? We had no idea," Jennifer said with heavy sarcasm as Khalil chuckled.
"You know what, screw you guys. I'm going to my room," I said.
Before I could get up, Khalil pulled me back down.
"Relax, Le, we're just teasing you," he said. "Besides, there's something I want to talk about with you."
"That's my cue to leave," Jen said, getting up and going into her room before closing her window.
"So, what is it that you want to talk about?" I asked him.
"Alright, so, you know we've been friends for a long time," I nodded to what he was saying. "I thought that maybe you'd like to be my boyfriend?"
I was shocked and surprised. I didn't think Khalil liked me in that way at all. I would've thought he would ask out Jen instead.
"Uh, Le, you're kinda making me nervous. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything," Khalil said, breaking me from my thoughts.
"No, uh, it's just, you surprised me, but to answer your question, yes," I said with a smile.
"I kinda got you something," Khalil said as he took out a small black bag from his pocket.
He opened it and pulled out a gold chain with a lions head.

"I saw it, and it made me think of you," he said as he put it on me.
"So a lion made you think of me? Are you trying to say I'm temperamental?" I teased him.

It was the next day, and I'm running up and down the halls of the school trying to find Jennifer's crazy ass before someone could notify dad that she's skipping class. I went to our usual places like the gym, the music room, and the auditorium but didn't find her in any of those places.
I was walking by the workout room when suddenly I was pulled into the room. I turned around and was about to punch whoever pulled me in here but stopped when I saw it was Khalil, a very shirtless and sweaty Khalil.
"Boy! I bout whooped yo ass," I said as I straightened my school uniform and got out of my head.
"Cute, but come get your sister," Khalil said, pointing over to Jen, who was slumped over on a bench.
"Is she seriously drunk right now?" I said, slightly disappointed in her, but I know she was still going through the process from being kidnapped.
"I think she's slightly buzzed," he said.
"Alright, can you go to my locker? There's some aspirin and some water bottles in there," I said.
Khalil nodded and left to get the items while I stayed and watched over Jen.
"Come on twin, this ain't like you," I said as I sat beside her, and she put her head on my shoulder.
"I just needed a break from all the stares and everything," Jennifer sighed.
"I get that, and I might not know what you're going through, but you still could've come to me and we could've done something better than getting drunk...at school...where our father is the principal," I said.
After a few minutes, Khalil came back with the items, and I gave them to Jen to try to sober her up fast. Once she was, we went on with the rest of our day, and when we got home, we had a movie night just for us twins.

Lawanda: The Book of Burial
We were in church for the funeral of Lawanda. She was one of dad's old students back from his time of being a teacher at Garfield High. Apparently, she was killed by another former student turned drug dealer named LaLa when she was trying to get her daughter from the same hotel that Black Lightning said Jen and Anissa from.
Once it was over, we returned home and changed clothes. I decided to go out onto the roof and wait for Khalil. When he got here, we started talking about our plans.
"And then we can check into the hotel at 2:00," he said while I nodded with a smile. "Yo, did you tell your parents where you were going?"
"I haven't yet, but I will," I said. "You have condoms, right?"
"Yeah," he said, chuckling.
"You good?" I asked him as I looked at his face.
"I'm good. Uh, it's just..." Khalil trailed off.
"Just what?" I asked him. "Have you changed your mind?"
"What? No. No. No, no, no, no. I, uh..." Khalil said nervously. "I lied Le."
"What you mean you lied?" I asked him as he looked back at me with a nervous smile.
"I haven't done it before. I was afraid to tell you. I mean... I wanted you to think that I knew what I was doing, but... Damn it, I was just trying to have swag," he blurted out. "Next thing I know,
lies were coming out
of my mouth, and... I'm sorry."
"So, a fine ass virgin tells the truth and risks remaining a virgin?" I questioned before smiling at him. "Khalil, my virgin ass couldn't find you sexier right now."
Khalil laughed, and I laughed along with him.

After talking about our plans, Khalil left, and I came downstairs for dinner with the family. I came down just in time to hear mom tell Jennifer that Anissa wasn't coming.
"Family Dinner is optional?" We both questioned.
"Not for you two," Dad said. "You both are still our little twins."
"Anissa not coming sucks," Jen said before mom reprimanded her. "Sorry, this turn of events is dispiriting, as I wished for her support during this repast."
"Me too," I said.
Dad chuckled and then asked, "What do you two need
support for?"
Jen and I looked at each other as if to say which one of us should go first. We exchanged looks for about two minutes before we turned back to face our parents and blurted out what we were going to say.
"I've decided I'm ready to have sex," we both said at the same time before we both looked at each other weirdly and grabbed the plates and silverware to set the table.
'Wow, I guess our twin telepathy is a real thing if we both decided on this. That's kinda weird and freaky.'
A little time passed before mom and dad came into the dining room with the food and drinks. I guess they needed time to process what we said.
"We are happy that you both came to us, like we've always encouraged you to," mom said.
"So happy," Dad drawled out, which caused Jen and I to glance at him.
"And glad that you felt comfortable," mom continued, but dad interrupted.
"You are both so young," he said.
"Well, how old were you guys?" I asked them as I looked between them before chuckling at the looks on there face. "Never mind."
"Your mother and I loved each other very much," dad said.
"Wait. Are you saying the first time you both had sex was with each other?" Jennifer asked them.
"This isn't about us, but about you two," Dad said, bypassing the question.
"We think it's very important that you have sex with the right person," mom said to both of us.
"Ok, noted," Jen and I said.
"So, um, I don't know about Jen's but, Saturday's the day. I'll be out in the afternoon, but I'll be home by curfew," I told them, stunning them into silence more.

"I don't think either one
of them said more than, "Pass the salt -" Jen started
"-for the rest of the meal," I finished as we told Anissa what happened during dinner as we all sat on Jennifer's bed.
"It was a little cruel for both of you to spring it during family dinner," Anissa said.
"Well unknown to the both of us, our plan was for you to be there to help 'em through it," I said, and Jennifer nodded in agreement.
"My bad. I'm sorry," Anissa apologized.
"Church, family dinner... Suddenly, you're a ghost," Jennifer said to her.
"You're okay, though, right?" I asked her.
"I'm fine," she said.
"Good. Then that means you can
go to the march with us," Jen said.
"Because we've never been to one,
and you're the pro, Harriet," I continued.
Before Anissa could try to talk her way out of it, Jen and I gave her the puppy dog eyes and pout. We kept it up for a while until she finally caved in.
"You two are horrible," Anissa said as Jen and I laughed.

As the week went by, it was time for the march. We were downtown and about to begin when Khalil came up beside me.
"Hey, so, um, I had an awkward encounter with your dad," he told me as we began walking.
"What do you mean by an awkward encounter?" I asked him while we walked.
He explained what happened, and that left me shocked and embarrassed.
"I'm sorry about that. He probably only did that because Jen and I basically sprung up that both of us were ready to have sex, so he probably overreacted," I said, shaking my head.
"It's fine, Leon," he said.
We continued to march until someone guy with a gun made us stop. He was about to shoot when Black Lightning showed up and made a shield to protect us. The reverend and everyone else started singing amazing grace until the reverend groaned and fell down.
The protesters started screaming as mom went to check on the reverend. I was gonna go help her when I saw a blood stain on Khalil's shirt and him sorta swaying before he fell.
"KHALIL!!" I yelled as I knelt down by Khalil and put my hands on the wound to stop it from bleeding excessively.

After someone called 911, they took the reverend and Khalil to the hospital. When we got to the hospital, I was immediately by Khalil's side as they pushed his gurney into the emergency room.
"I'm right here, Khalil. It's gonna be ok," I cried out as they stopped me from going into the room.
Anissa and Jennifer pulled me away from the doors and over to a chair so I could sit.
"He's gonna be ok, right?" I asked Anissa as I wiped my tears away.
"I'm sure he will, Leon," Jennifer said as she rubbed my back.
After some mom came over to us with some news from the doctor, which was that Khalil might not ever walk again. In that moment, I felt a storm of emotions, and unknown to me at the time the weather was starting to reflect those emotions as a strong thunder storm suddenly came through.
