Previously on The Ace of Spades:
"Y/n. Would you like to go to to the coffee shop in town with me when you're better?" Yuno asked
"Like a date?"
"If you'd like to call it that."
"I'd love to Yuno!"
"It's a date then."

Y/n had recovered quickly during her stay at the infirmary after the incident. She had at least 30 people visit her each day. The most frequent visitors were Julius and Nozel (for obvious reasons), Yuno and Leopold
Y/n was surprised to see Leo visiting her almost every day, but since he had been spending a lot of time visiting Fuegoleon, he decided to spend some time with Y/n too since the two injured magic knights were only a few doors away from each other
The two young mages never got bored of each other's company. In fact, Leopold had a new story to tell every day from his adventures with the Crimson Lion Kings and their new captain, Mereoleona Vermillion, the older sister to Fuegoleon and Leopold
Y/n couldn't imagine being in a squad with Mereoleona as a captain. Not that the h/c haired girl was scared of the oldest Vermillion sibling but she didn't like the idea of her being a captain
When Y/n was released from the infirmary, she immediately ran to Fuegoleon's room to visit him. She pushed open the door and ran straight to his side. The stump of his arm had been bandaged up and he was sleeping peacefully
"I can't believe they did this to you," Y/n spoke softly. "And why you of all people? One of the nicer magic knight captains."
Soon the door swung open and in walked Mereoleona. "Oh hello Y/n. Didn't expect to see you here."
Y/n stood up and faced the current captain of the Crimson Lion Kings. "Hello Captain Mereoleona. You're looking well."
"Hah. Please Y/n, no need to call me Captain," Mereoleona said, walking up to Fuegoleon's side
Y/n was completely taken aback. Not only by what the female Vermillion said, but her tone of voice while saying those words
"But ma'am. You are a captain, so I must address you with the proper title," Y/n stammered
"Ah yes. I am the captain of my foolish younger brother's squad now aren't I?" Mereoleona sighed, looking down at her younger brother
"I apologize for stepping out of line ma'am but Captain Fuegoleon is not foolish. He is one of the nicest magic knight captains I have met. He judges others based on their strength and character rather than their social status," Y/n stated. "He defended Asta from Nozel and his siblings duing the Distinguished Service Ceremony Banquet by saying he was invited by the wizard king himself, therefore he is trusted by Julius.
Mereoleona watched as the young girl went on her little speech about the male sleeping beside them. One Y/n was finished, Mereoleona placed a hand on the younger girl's head
"You've got fire in your soul kid. Don't let anyone burn it out!" she said before taking her leave, but once she arrived at the door.....
"But he's still my foolish younger brother!"
Mereoleona then exited Fuegoleon's room, leaving Y/n staring after her, utterly stunned by what just happened.....
'Is she okay?' Y/n thought to herself. 'That was very un-Mereoleona like'

The sun was warm and the castle town busy as Y/n made her way over to the Black Bulls base. None of them had been able to visit her during her time in the infirmary due to going out on missions. So know was her time to tell them she's okay
Since it was such a beautiful day, Y/n decided to walk to the base, chatting and saying hello to the citizens as she walk. Little kids ran up to her giving her bracelets and things they had made, saying they had made them all for her
Y/n said thank you and took every gift she had been given before stopping a little ways away from the Black Bulls to call Marx. Once the call went through, Marx's face appeared in front of Y/n
"Lady Y/n? Is everything alright," Marx asked. "You rarely ever call me."
"Hello Marx. Yes everything is fine," Y/n smiled. "I have some more gifts from the children to send back. Please put them with the others."
Marx smiled and laughed slightly. "You are so adored Y/n. Even though you are a pain sometimes."
"At least my hair doesn't look like a mushroom," Y/n teased
"And there it is," Marx sighed. "I knew I shouldn't have said anything. Anyway, send them over and I will put them with the others right away."
"Thank you Marx"
Y/n ended the call and sent the childrens' gifts back to the castle before continuing her journey to the Black Bulls
It wasn't long before she got there but before she could even open the doors, they burst open and she was immediately trapped in a bone crushing hug
"Y/N I WAS SO WORRIED ABOUT YOU! CAPTAIN YAMI WOULDNT LET US COME SEE YOU!" The voice behind the hug cried
Y/n knew that voice all to well
"Of course I'm alright Finral," Y/n said, patting his back gently. "They'll have to do much worse to get me to break."
I'M SO GLAD YOU'RE OKAY!" Finral cried harder, not letting go of the girl
"Alright that's enough," a new voice said, picking Finral up off the ground as he let go of Y/n in the process
"I'm sorry captain," Finral said, looking behind him to see Yami, holding Finral by the back of his shirt
"Come on inside Y/n," Yami said as he ushered the girl inside their base. Every head turned to the new guest, the room immediately going silent
Y/n's friends all stared at her, no one making a sound or moving a muscle....
"Uhh... Hi guys," Y/n said, rubbing the back of her neck
"Y/N!" they all yelled, running over to the girl at once
And to Y/n's surprise, the first person to make it to her and wrap his arms around her was none other than Gauche. Y/n was taken completely off guard before smiling and wrapping her arms around him in return as the others joined in for a group hug
"I'm so glad you're okay Y/n!" Vanessa exclaimed
"You're better! You wanna fight now?" Luck asked
"Lemme feed you some food!" Charmy suggested
"Alright you knuckle heads. That's enough," Yami said, pulling each Black Bull member off the girl
But Gauche had still not let go
"Uhh, Gauche? Is everything alright?" Y/n asked, worried because the taller male never acted like this.... EVER
Gauche pulled away and placed his hands on the smaller girl's face. "You are okay right? Promise me?"
Y/n smiled. "I promise. I'm okay."
"Woah woah woah. Is Gauche actually caring for someone that isn't his sister?" Vanessa teased
"This is very odd to watch," Finral commented
Gauche quickly got very embarrassed by his squadmates' comments, and quickly turned away
"No! It's just... Marie really adores you so if something happened to you, then she would be sad," Gauche replied, pulling out a picture of his younger sister. "And I'd hate to see her cry. My beautiful Marie."
"And he's back," Magna sighed
"Even if it was brief, thank you for caring about me Gauche," Y/n said
"Y/N!" another voice yelled
And soon Y/n was tackled to the floor and Y/n saw his spiky hair
"Hello Asta."
"You are such an idiot Asta," came Noelle's voice as she walked up to the two teens on the floor as Yami once again picked up another one of his squad members as Noelle helped Y/n up
"It's good to see you're doing better," Noelle smiled
"Oh yeah. I'm feeling so much better," Y/n replied. "My injuries weren't that bad.
During their interaction, the other Black Bull members had dispersed back to what they were doing before the Blue Rose member had arrived
"Hey Finral," Yami called
"Yes sir?" Finral walked up to his captain
"Take these three youngsters out into the castle town" Yami said before getting in Finral's face. "If Y/n gets hurt on you're watch, you're dead. Got it?"
"Yes s-sir!" Finral stammered before opening up a portal
Y/n, Asta and Noelle walked through as Finral followed them and they landed in the middle of the town. The sun was starting to set, casting a warm golden glow on the town. But the town was still as busy as ever, maybe even more busy than when Y/n walked through earlier
The four of them walked around for a while, stopping at ever stall and of course, Asta had to try... EVERY SINGLE. FOOD. STALL.
Y/n didn't mind one bit. The food wasn't that expensive and she had more than enough money with her
But Noelle was getting annoyed with her squadmates excessive eating
"Seriously Asta. How much more are you going to eat?!" Noelle groaned
"Asta I think that's enough now," Finral suggested. "You're spending all of Y/n's money!"
"It's alright Finral. I don't mind," Y/n assured the older boy. "He's having fun. That's all that matters."
"Well well well, if it isn't my failure of an older brother," came a voice Y/n, unfortunately, knows all too well
"Ugh, why him of all people?" Y/n groaned. "I would've rather run into Solid and Nebra."
"Hmm who's that?" Asta asked, turning to the new member that had joined them
"What do you want Langris?" Y/n slightly growled
"Oh, I'm just here to see my sad excuse for a older brother," Langris replied. "And you of course. You're looking quite lovely this evening Y/n."
"I don't want your compliments," Y/n snarled, as she took a step in front of Finral
Asta and Noelle walked over and stood to either side of their superior
"Uhh Finral? Who is that?" Asta asked again
"That is my younger brother, Langris Vaude," Finral replies, a little disappointed
"You have a brother?!" Noelle exclaimed
"Yes. Unfortunately, I do," Finral sighed
"Why unfortunately?" Asta asked
"He thinks I'm completely useless as a magic knight," Finral replied. "He likes to ridicule me and talk down to me."
"Well we have to do something about that then!" Asta exclaimed
"Don't worry," Finral smiled, placing a hand to stop Asta. "Y/n has got this."
"Oh come on Y/n," Langris smiled. "I don't understand why would hang out with these people. Why don't you come with a real magic knight instead."
"I wouldn't hate anything more than going somewhere with you," Y/n sneered
"Would you rather hang out with a magic knight faliure from the worst squad of the mage from the best squad in the kingdom?" Langris smirked
"I would rather hang out with a rat than someone who thinks that they are superior to everyone else but actually feels inferior because he believes his parents only love him for his magic power. That desire to win and be loved makes him believe that winning makes him right, when I'm fact it does not. And that superiority complex hides when inferiority complex, when in fact, that inferiority complex is stronger."
Finral, Asta, Noelle and even Langris were completely taken aback
Who knew that this girl, the girl that everyone adores
Everyone looks up to
Everyone strives to be like
Had such a venomous side to her
Langris stood there, stuttering and stammering before he quickly turned and walked away, unable to argue, knowing that what the girl said had all been true
How Y/n had known all of that, no one will ever know
"Wow Y/n," Noelle said, a little nervous the girl would come at her next. "I've never seen you like that before."
Y/n turned back to her friends, and they all immediately backed away, waiting to be called out next
But instead.....
"Don't worry about it guys!" Y/n smiled. "Just protecting my friends. Let's keep going."
Y/n turned and started walking down another path with more stalls, leaving her friends there
"Wow, that was a complete 180," Asta commented
"She's amazing isn't she?" Finral gushed as he followed the girl
Noelle and Asta looked at each other
"We will never make her mad, right Asta?"
"Yep. I don't think I'd survive if she came at me like that."
