Cody's Perspective

My hand gripped tightly on the steering wheel, my other hand clutching a plastic I.D. A little pre-gaming before a game won't hurt, right? Plus, it's not like the game's in the morning anyway, I'll have plenty of time to get rid of my hangover. Fuck, those little shits have been drivin' me wild. I fucking hate everyone at that goddamn high school. Miles, Declan, Max, shit, and especially that little brat Eric.

The more I thought about it, the more the veins in my hand became evident. I clutched onto the wheel even harder, thoughts running rampant in my mind. The fuck was going on with me? I've always been excited at the thought of a game. The Friday night lights, the girls cheering for me in their short skirts, and the feeling of winning.

And fuck, Eric might be there too, watching me. His presence is gonna fuck me up, I know it. All I'm gonna think about on the field is his stupid face and whiny voice. Kinda' makes me wanna throw a punch at him– but god knows what the kid has up his sleeve. The little brat is making it so fuckin' hard for me sometimes. God, I wish he was as dumb as Theo. If he was, he'd be making my job here a lot easier.

It's kind of funny if you think 'bout it. I mean, Blake's plan is genius. Theo's family fucked with his, and now Theo's gonna suffer the consequences. Not only will Theo get his heart broken, but he's gonna get a new spot in a homeless shelter too after Blake's done exposing his family's secrets. If that's not hittin' two birds with one stone, I don't know what is.

Eric's just a pawn. I mean, I'm only really gettin' with him to make everything more believable. Not only that, but fuck, it's so fuckin' funny to mess with people. Especially disgusting homos like Eric. I've always sorta found it funny to mess with people, even girls. Especially the ones who are dumb enough to believe that I'd still be lying right next to them the morning after a hot night, with me telling 'em I'd never leave.

They'd always believe it too. I chuckled slightly, reminiscing on all the times I got called a douchebag by crying girls. Eric was no different from them. I'll have him at my feet, worshiping me like they all do, and then I'll leave him just as soon as he starts getting attached. Some people call it masochistic, sadistic – I call it harmless fun. I mean, I'm not even beatin' up a guy. Plus, a little emotional turmoil is good for growth, right?

Chuckling, I pulled my car into the gas station, parallel parking right next to a gas pump. I hastily lit a cigarette, and dangled it from my lips, the smell of it filling up my nose. Hastily, I got out of my car, and walked towards the gas station to pay for my gas. I glanced over to the cashier, before quickly shoving my fake I.D into the back pocket of my jeans. Gas wasn't the only thing here that I wanted to get.

To make it more believable, I strolled around in the aisles, looking for anything else that I might want to buy. While looking at all the snacks on the shelf, I thought about what kind of alcohol I felt like getting tonight. Maybe vodka? Or maybe just a case of beer? Whatever it was, I made a mental note to get extra for the rest of my teammates. Although, the cases of beer that lined the shelves looked really tempting.

Carelessly, I picked up the case of beer by its handle, and continued to browse the aisles. All of a sudden, the bell on top of the door began chiming, signaling that someone else had entered. I paid no attention to it, and continued to graze my fingers across all of the chip bags, humming to myself in thought. I could hear multiple people entering at once, their loud voices filling up the once silent gas station. "Shit, did you bring your I.D, Max?" A familiar voice called out, a voice that I've heard one too many times.

"Yo, check out who's here."

My eyebrows knitted together in confusion, and I finally looked up at who it was that was speaking. "You need a little boost of confidence before we beat your ass tomorrow, Andrews?" Declan snickered, hinting at the case of beer that I was holding. "Boost of confidence my ass. You bitches sure are confident, especially for guys who haven't beaten Redsen in almost three years." I chuckled, not even bothering to look at them anymore.

"Yeah, keep braggin' 'bout those faulty wins, Andrews. Tonight, we'll show you what a real one looks like." Max said, chiming in. These guys were ruining my fucking mood. All I wanted was some gas and beer, and here they are, trying to start shit with me. Sighing, I put the case down, and looked directly at all of them. "Max, I wanna hear you say that shit when your friends aren't here to back you up, pussy." I said the last part under my breath, but I knew he heard it.

All of a sudden, he came charging at me, the palms of his hands pushing at my chest in an attempt to corner me. "What'd you say, asshole?" I could tell I got him riled up. "For a junior, you sure do have soft hands, kid." I ripped his arms away from my chest, and looked at him with a smirk on my face. "Funny how a junior has more gut than you do, Andrews." Said a voice coming from behind an angry-looking Max.

Miles.

Captain of Harbor High's football team. "Hey, why don't you control your dogs, DuGray?" I shot him a glare, with a smirk still evident on my face. "Haven't seen you in a while, Andrews. Say hi to your captain for me too while you're at it, unless he's still too busy mackin' guys like the disgusting homo he is." That's it. Blake was my ride or die, and if someone was going to be defending his name, it'd be me.

"You wanna try saying that again, DuGray?" I walked over to him, fists balled at my sides. Miles smirked at me before continuing,  "Say what again? The part about your captain lickin' faces with boys, or the part about him being a disgusting little–"

Without letting him say another word, my fist rose from my side, and I didn't waste another second before squarely hitting him in the face. I'd been wanting to do that for a while now. "Wanna try saying that now?" I watched him clutch at his face, eyes clenched. He opened his eyes again before responding, "Oh, you're gonna regret that."

Without warning, he came charging at me, ready to punch me. My hand was grasping tightly at his wrist, smirking at him triumphantly. "Oh really?" I jeered, mocking him. He aggressively pulled his hand away from my grasp, and grabbed the collar of my shirt tightly. I reciprocated his actions, and tightly gripped his shoulders, pulling him to the floor. I heard his friends, and the cashier, yelling at me to get off him. Miles was pinned under me, trying to get out of my grasp.

"What's the matter? Can't handle the cold hard truth that your captain's a–"

"Don't fuckin' talk about him."

The rest of his teammates came scurrying to the scene on the floor, trying their hardest to pull me off their captain. "Miles, he ain't worth it, man." I watched, still smirking, as Declan pulled Miles up from the floor. His other two teammates were both gripping at my arm, trying to get me to back off before things got messy. "You wanna try that again, DuGray?" I said, mocking him.

Miles opened his mouth, ready to say something. All of a sudden, the door behind us chimed, and a gush of wind entered the store. I squinted my eyes, making sure I was seeing things right. "What the.." In came a confused looking Eric, hair disheveled, and a worried expression.

His eyes seemed to scan the scene in front of him, before his eyes landed on mines. "Cody?!" The two guys who were holding me back from Miles let go at the sight of Eric. "What the fuck are you guys doing? You guys said that you'd pay for the gas and then we'd head home, but instead you guys are fighting in a gas station like a bunch of idiots?" He called out, confused, yet irritated.

Miles walked over to Eric, and said, "We were just teaching Andrews a lesson, Eric, don't get all riled up." I watched, confused, as Miles ruffled Eric's ginger hair, smirking like a condescending jerk. "Eric, what the fuck are you doing here? How the hell do you know these bitches?" I shot him a glare, with my eyebrows still knitted. Eric looked away from Miles, and back to me, before scoffing, "Are you kidding me, Cody? Miles is my brother!"

What the fuck.

It all seemed to add up. Eric went to the same school as all of them, and Miles and him shared a last name. Suddenly, the realization of their siblinghood hit me like a brick. "You're fuckin' kidding." I stared at him with a slightly disgusted expression. "I wish I was." Eric said, side-eying his brother. His eyes seemed to land on the bruise forming on his brother's face, before his spiteful expression turned into one of concern.

"Miles! What the hell happened?" He said, voice laced with worry. He turned his head, and looked right at me. "Oh god, don't tell me.." Eric looked at me, with disappointment written all over his face. "It's not my fuckin' fault, Eric! He came in here and started pickin' a fight!" I pointed to Miles. For some reason, I hoped that Eric would believe me. It was the truth after all.

"But why the fuck did you have to hit him?!" He turned back to his brother, before continuing, "Gosh, mom's gonna kill me for letting this happen!" That's what he was worried about? "Why don't you hitch a ride home with me instead, cutie? What do you say?" I said, looking at Eric. "I don't think I want to ride with any of you!" He said, spitefully.

"Oh, c'mon, you know that's not true. You wanna come home with us, right, kid?" Max slung his arm around Eric's shoulder playfully. "I don't want to go with any of you! You know what, I think I'll just walk." He shrugged Max's arm off, and walked back to the entrance. All of a sudden, he stopped, and turned back to say one more thing, "Oh, and Cody, don't expect me to be anywhere near Redsen tomorrow, especially not after the shit you and everyone else pulled today."

A wave of disappointment flooded my system, "Don't be like that, princess." I said, and quickly walked over to him. I put my hand on his shoulder, but he aggressively shook it off. "Don't touch me!" I stood still and watched as he shoved his hands into the pockets of his jacket, and walked off with his head down. The gas station fell silent after his leave. I looked back at all the guys distastefully, scoffing, before my eyes landed on Miles. "Even your own brother doesn't like you." I smirked, and looked at his bruise with a winning smile.

"Whatever, asshole." Miles pushed the door, and walked out without another word. Declan looked at me and muttered, "Hope you can catch as well as you throw punches." He pushed past me, and left, following after Miles. The rest of them did the same, but not before shooting me glares on their way out.

Some bitches, I thought to myself, scoffing. I picked up the case of beer that was still lying on the floor untouched, and made my way over to the cash register. "I.D?" He asked, scanning the case of beer. "Yeah, I have it right here.." I muttered casually under my breath, before digging deep inside my pockets to pull it out.

The sight that was before me made me even more irritated than the fight between Miles and I.

Fuck!

My fake I.D was ruined!
