NORA JENKINS USED TO THINK HER JOB WAS BORING. As a forensics officer in a small town whose biggest crimes were drunk driving, it wasn't like there was any sort of challenging work to do. Every day was basically the same. Around and around she went. Doing the same thing day after day. Month after Month. Year after year. But then, tragedy hit the town like a tsunami. Danny Latimer was found dead.
After arriving to the scene of the body of a young boy found on the beach, Nora instantly burst into tears. Because it wasn't just any boy lying dead in the sand. It was Danny Latimer. It was her cousin's son.
Taken from the world too soon, the death of Danny Latimer shook the town of Broadchurch to its very core. Nora, of course, was asked to leave the investigation and return to her family. But how could she just stay at home when she could be out there helping to find Danny's killer? She wouldn't have it. Her friend — Ellie Miller — seemed to understand that along with her replacement: Alec Hardy. And it was a good thing to, because Nora would have found Danny's killer with or without the police's consent.
It soon became apparent that Alec Hardy was a strange man. He lived at the Traders Hotel all on his own and seemed to have his very own personal storm cloud following him whether he went. Yet despite the fact that everyone called him 'Shit-face' behind his back, Nora saw the soft, kind side in his tired eyes. In Broadchurch it wasn't often you saw an officer so scarred by the job that it haunted their dreams, but Alec Hardy was one of them. He had seen unspeakable horrors but he kept going nonetheless. Nora could tell that about him.
The case of Danny Latimer was not an easy one. Truths that many wanted to remain hidden came out, families were ruined, lives turned upside down. So Nora had to buckle down and help solve the case before her family was hurt more than they already were. They depended on her. Danny depended on her. She had to solve the case.
With Hardy and Miller by her side, Nora Jenkins must find the person who killed her cousin's son, all the while trying not to get too close to the DCI who was just a mystery wrapped in an enigma, wrapped in loneliness. Well, maybe he didn't have to be alone anymore.

• Nora is Beth's cousin and is therefore tied directly to the case
• Nora got pregnant at 20 and had her son at 21. Jason's Father wanted nothing to do with them and left them and Broadchurch so Nora had to raise him by herself.
• Jason is a good kid. He's not very good in the STEM department but he has a passion and talent for creative writing. He has a good heart and is close with his cousin Chloe and helped her to babysit Danny. But the stress of the trial gets to him and he starts fighting at school. Usually just with kids who disrespect his late cousin or his family. But his Mum helps him get past it and he goes back to school.
• Nora isn't that close with any other family, apart from Beth. They were both pregnant around the same time and considering that Nora was a bit older, she took Beth under her wing and ensured her pregnancy went well.

• Nora works in forensics which is how she gets to keep being involved with the police and the investigation.
• Jason and Chloe are the same age so they are pretty close and Jason knows about Dean before anyone else.
• Ellie is totally the captain of this ship and we love her for it. She notices the tension between them at the beginning of act 2 and makes them address it. She just wants them both to be happy.
• Nora is never afraid to call Alec out on his shit or when he's being an arse. In that way, they're perfect for each other. They're supportive but they challenge each other and Alec is a thundercloud whilst Nora is a sunshine. He's so resistant and reluctant to let anyone care for him, but Nora refuses to give up.
• When Alec is away, Nora and him don't have any contact which is why their reunion is a bit awkward.
• Between seasons 2 and 3, Nora becomes an official cop as she transfers from forensics to Ellie's team. This surprises Alec greatly when he returns.
ACT ONE
broadchurch season one
• Nora is called to the beach before Miller and identifies Danny. She breaks down and Hardy asks her about her connection to him. Nora leaves with the crime scene with Beth and is there for her and the family. Jason is so upset but is there for everyone Nora is determined to help find Danny's killer but she's also there for Beth. Her and Hardy get close as she doesn't think he's an asshole like everyone else does. At the end, Nora is horrified by who killed Danny.
ACT TWO
broadchurch season two
• Nora and Alec have slept together ONCE now, like a few days before episode one. They don't really have a label but she's trying to be there for him the best that she can because of his health. Nora is horrified when they dig up Danny and she is called as a witness. She is also working with him and Miller on his old case and is helping with Claire. Jason starts to get into trouble at school for fighting. Nora is actually encouraging Alec to go and be near his family as she knows how important it is, so they put their undefined relationship on a hold.
ACT THREE
broadchurch season three
• Alec and Nora are reunited. The sexual assault case just brings back memories of when Nora was raped when she was 18, by a guy who she thought was her friend. So she's very eager to help Trish and to catch the man who hurt her. She tells Alec and Miller about what happened to her and they support her. Alec and Nora are sort of still on a break but they're working their way out of it and she's growing close to his daughter. She's actually more of a cop now too. At the end, they're together officially.
• An epilogue would be nice. Whether it's really open or closed, it doesn't matter to me. Just that they're happy, that's all that matters. It could be them preparing for the next case or much further in the future. Whatever you think is best.
