"Now I should warn you before you meet Wanda, well I should have warned you about Pietro too.", Y/N said as they started walking into the park.
"What about?", Bucky asked.
"Well their time in Hydra was a little different, they both were experimented on, just like ourselves. However, they actually got something out of it, other than the pain and torture and the nightmares."
"Like what?", Bucky raised an eyebrow.
"Well, pietro is incredibly fast and I don't mean super soldier running fast, I mean, super speed you can't see him fast."
"Is that how we heard a twig break and then he appeared in a place where the twig didn't break?" Bucky asked curiously.
"Mhm, its how he and Wanda get around, he just carries her and he can be running miles in about 2 minutes."
"Wow.", was all Bucky could say. "What about Wanda?"
"Now Wanda has powers, from the mind stone, Hydra went through a phase at this point, she showed potential and she passed.", she started. "Her powers consist of telekinesis, telepathy, energy manipulation, illusions and flight"
"That's insane. But did they not become super soldiers too?", Bucky asked.
"No, the Winter Soldier program was just before their arrival to Hydra, which they willingly did by the way. They were orphans, living on the streets, trying to get by, until they ran into a Hydra base in Sokovia. They were made to believe Hydra was going to save the world, but upon Ultron, they realised they were on the wrong side."
"I'm sure you had something to do with it too.", he nudged her arm.
"I was in the Raft at that point, so unfortunately I wasn't there as they joined the Avengers.", she replied.
"The Raft?"
"It's a prison in the depths of the ocean, for people with special abilities. I was on a mission for Hydra and I was caught, I let my guard down by... something. Anyway and they stuck me in the Raft until they interrogated me and saw I had been controlled, I was released only on the condition I would help the Avengers .", she added.
"Huh, I didn't see that on your files."
Y/N chuckled slightly, "they keep the prison files separate"
Bucky nodded as they got to the middle section of the park where Y/N usually met Wanda and Pietro.
Bucky and Y/N sat on a bench.
"Central Park truly has changed in a hundred years.", Bucky said as he looked around.
"I forget you and Steve were born from a different time, must be strange.", Y/N replied.
"Strange is an understatement.", he chuckled.
"Do you miss your family?", Y/N asked.
"My parents had already passed away before my life came to an end, but my sister, she was still alive. But yes I miss them.", he gave her a small smile, in which she returned. "What about you? Did you ever know your folks?"
She shook her head, "was too small to remember them, only memories I have are the red room, such pleasant things to remember.", she said with a slight touch of sarcasm.
He laughed, "I can imagine."
"Although I did have a family for a while.", she started.
He just looked at her as she spoke.
"In 1995, I was about 10. Me, Natasha and Yelena lived in Ohio. We had been there for a few years. We were playing a family, we had a mom and dad. We got to play in a neighbourhood with other kids.", Y/N smiled as she remembered the memories. "It was perfect."
"What happened?", Bucky asked.
"It was a lie, a cover up.,", she started. "My dad, Alexei and my mom, Melina worked for the government, under Shield. They were there looking for intel to feed back to Dreykov. Me, Natasha and Yelena were there to play a part, look as if we were a true American family." She sighed, "on our last day, being a family. Alexei took Intel from Sheild, it was how to psychologically rewire the basal ganglia, this allows someone to have the power to control minds, without powers."
"For Dreykov?", Bucky questioned.
Y/N nodded, "Dreykov used this on the Widows, the basal ganglia is the part of the brain associated with control of emotion, cognition, habit learning, conditional learning, and procedural learning. He could manipulate us and even terminate us from a distance if he noticed we got out of our controlled state."
"So on the day I kidnapped you, did he not attempt to terminate you? I don't remember what happened then, too many brain frazzles", he chuckled slightly.
"Somehow Hydra was aware of Dreykovs technology, so when you found me on a mission in 2005, you removed the chip from my leg. The chip was what sent signals to the brain."
"Wow, he was kind of a monster.", Bucky replied.
Y/N chuckled slightly, "You're telling me."
"Y/N!", a voice called out from down the pathway.
Y/N turned to see a woman running towards them.
"Wanda!", she replied running up to her, meeting in the middle with a hug.
Bucky smiled, he hadn't seen her be this excited or happy before.
"It's so good to see you.", Wanda said.
"Same here.", she replied.
Bucky pushed himself off the bench and made his way to the girls.
"It's been so long," Y/N said.
"I know, but hopefully this mission comes to an end soon so we can come home," Wanda said as she gave Y/N another big hug. In doing so, she saw Bucky behind her. Wanda pulled away, "Who's this?"
Y/N turned around and saw Bucky, turning back to Wanda, "This is Bucky."
Bucky was shocked slightly to hear her say his name and not call him James.
"He's new to the Avengers, Fury teamed us up."she added.
"The Winter Solider." Pietro appeared at Wanda's side.
She laughed, "Who knew, I thought I'd never see you two in the same place again."
"Well times have changed and we're both different people, it's time to move on.", Y/N replied.
Wanda smiled, "of course."
"I brought him along cause it appears our missions have collided, we're on the hunt for a group who are selling Vibrainium, might be good for us to team up."
"We've been tracking them for a while, and it's been a struggle. But I'm sure with all four of us, we can figure something out." Wanda replied.
"We've met some of their workers, who claimed to be the sellers. But I've been to enough of these things to know they were inexperienced and clearly not behind the ordeal.", Bucky added.
"Where was this?" Pietro asked.
"Down by the Docks, there's a Warehouse, I think that's where the vibrainium is coming in." Y/N replied.
"Maybe we need to head back there, do some more snooping, see if any vans show up and follow them." Wanda suggested.
"Sounds good.", Bucky replied.
"Hey!", a voice called out from a small group nearby.
The four of them turned the voice.
"Is that Y/N Grant, The killer?"
"Okay we need to go.", Y/N said as she started pulling Bucky away.
"Nah, don't tell me you're shy."the guy mocked. "We all know what you are, a killer."
Y/N froze in place.
"I don't think that's necessary, man."Bucky defended.
"Stay out of this."The guy came towards Bucky, "or I'll make you regret even opening your mouth. "
Bucky laughed.
The guy turned to Y/N. "What? Cat got your tongue, "he laughed.
Y/N looked away, starting to feel mad.
"Hey," the guy clicked in her face. "I was talking to you."
Y/N stared at him, eyebrows furrowed together.
"Ooo, someone looks mad. What are you gonna do? Hit me?"he mocks. "Nah, killing people is more your speed,"
"Malcom, leave her alone," a woman shouted from the group he left from.
"Leave it out Stacey", he shouted back. "Not gonna do anything?"he said to Y/N, who was just staring at him.
"Hey!"Wanda called out, causing Malcom to look at her. With a quick flick of her fingers, she pulled his pants down, revealing his spotty underwear.
Groups of people gathered, laughing at him.
He quickly pulled up his pants and ran, running towards the exit of the park.
Y/N stood there still silent, frozen.
"I think you should take her back to the tower, we need to head off.", Wanda said tapping Buckys arm. "Take care of her"
"I will.", Bucky replied.
"Later, Bucky.", Pietro said as he lifted Wanda and with that he was gone in a flash.
Bucky stood in front of Y/N, he looked in her eyes and she seemed spaced out.
"Hey.", he said gently, putting his hands on her shoulders and shaking her lightly. "Look at me".
She made eye contact with him.
"You okay?", he asked.
She nodded slightly.
"Come on, let's get you back to the tower.", he put his arm around her shoulders and helped guide her out the park.
