My flight landed in Boston, and the first thing I did was call Ruthie, my agent. "Hi sweetheart, it's Y/N. How are you doing?" She asked. "I'm great. The costume fitting with great, and I'll be getting my script."  Ruthie squealed with excitement. "That's so awesome! I was so worried you would hate it, but I think you're going to like working with them. Plus, it's going to boost your status as an actress."

I listened to her ramble for a little while I looked for my driver Chris hired. Then, my eyes snapped to the bluish-green crystals he owned for eyes. With a one-sided smile and a model-like strut, he made his way to me, towering over me like I wasn't almost as tall as him. I stared at him. Going without him for a couple of weeks must have taken a toll on me because right now I wanted to jump his bones in this airport in front of everybody.

"Hello, beautiful," He whispered.  His deep voice sent shivers down my spine, making my heart melt even more.  His eyes sparkled with something unknown, but not innocent.

He pulled me into a hug and planted a long kiss on my lips. "I missed you," I said breathlessly. He responded with another kiss. "Are you trying to make us the center of attention on the internet tonight?" I inquired. Chris looked around us. There were already people pointing and recording us. I stepped away from him before he grabbed my bag. "Well, finish this in the car." He threw a wink my way and a smile.

I smiled back. We headed toward his car, which was a black BMW convertible. We got inside and drove off. "I have us a hotel, very secluded, and a pending reservation at a restaurant, but that's only if you feel okay," Chris spoke in a nice tone that made my heart flutter. He held my hand as we drove through the city. Boston was nicer than LA. Weeks when we would visit Chris's family for holidays, I didn't want to leave.

"Yeah, I want to. Anything else I need to look forward to?" I asked as he pulled down a familiar road. He shook his head, "Just do what you always do, baby - look pretty." He reached out and kissed my temple after parking the car in front of his parents' place. He opened and closed my door after I got out. Then, we strutted to the front door. I went to knock before Chris twisted the door knob. "We're family. We don't knock."

Without warning, I was being bombarded with soft paws and barks. Dodger and Zue were jumping all over me, and I made sure to give them plenty of scratches. "Is that my daughter-in-law?" Lisa rounded the corner with a smile bigger than mine on her face. She threw her hands up and pranced to hug me. We waddled back and further, trading 'I miss you' and 'I miss you more'.

"Turn, let me look at you." She grinned as I did a 360.

"Ma, you saw her a month ago. Nothing's changed." Chris yelled from the living room. I didn't even notice he left my side. I followed his voice to see him grabbing his bags. "I know." She mumbled before taking my hand, "Like a ring not being on this finger."

"Ma."

Lisa smacked her lips, "Christopher. You'll wait too long, and some other handsome gentlemen will get down on one knee for you." I looked at the pictures of us on vacation that sat on her fireplace. Chris huffed, "Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it."

Lisa smacked her lips before placing a hand on my back, "Y/N, you tell him. You're not going to wait forever." They both turn to me. My breath hitched before I looked between them. I mean his mom was right. I can't wait forever to get married. Hell, I don't want to have a kid before I'm married. That's not what I had in my plan. Chris stared at me was so much intensity that I could feel my body catch fire. I chuckled and walked to Chris, kissing his cheek.

"I'll wait for a little while." I winked at him before looking back at Lisa, "Plus, I'm not going to lose the best mother-in-law ever. That's the reason I want to marry Chris." Lisa grinned at Chris and nodded her head vigorously as if agreeing with me. "Couldn't have said it better myself."

We said our goodbyes and drove to the hotel to get dressed. As soon as we were behind closed doors and alone, Chris picked me up and tossed me over his shoulder. I shrieked with laughter as I hugged him tight. He walked down the hallway.
"Put me down, Chris."

"No can do." He chuckled. "You're my wife. And you have a lot of catching up to do to show me how much you care about me," He slapped my ass, "Plus, I need to make sure no other man is going to propose to you before I do." I laughed as he acted my ass again and opened up the door to what I assumed was the bedroom. It had to be because I was thrown across the bed, head hitting soft pillows. He came crawling towards me before he started tickling my sides. I squirmed and kicked him. I tried pushing him away, but he caught my wrists and pinned me down. Before I knew it, his kisses landed on my jawline, down my throat. "Let me take off your clothes, honey."

I nodded, "Please." He smiled and slowly removed my clothing, leaving me naked beneath him. My breathing became erratic, and I was ready to burst with excitement. Chris smirked at me as if he read my mind. He leaned closer and kissed me passionately, letting my legs wrap around his waist. He laid on top of me, totally engulfing me in him.

"We have a reservation in 40 minutes." He whispered as he bit down on my neck. "I know you need at least 35 minutes to get ready." A hint of sarcasm in his voice. I smiled, "Okay, you'll be done in a minute anyway."

He pulled away from me, his face inches away from mine. "On your stomach."

I giggled as he flipped me over when I wasn't moving fast enough. He kissed my shoulder, "I'll just push the reservation back.

I posted my outfit to Instagram, tagging Chris as the photographer. He was focused on the wheel as he drove us away from the restaurant.

Dinner was great, and it felt nice to just exist in his presence again without all the yelling. It was fun sitting there and watching him talk animatedly. He was such a different person when he was happy; his smiles lit up his whole face. He told me stories about when he used to live here, and although I've heard them a thousand times, I'm never going to tell him to stop talking.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"It's a surprise." After a minute or so, we pulled into the driveway of a beautiful house.

I gasped as I looked out the window at the structure and opened my car door, getting out. Chris got out after me and locked the car. "This is so beautiful," I whispered. "Wanna see the inside?" He asked, putting a hand on my lower back like he was guiding me forward. I nodded, walked up the steps, and watched as Chris unlocked the door.

He pushed it open and led me inside. I glanced around, taking everything in. "What are we doing here?" I turned and looked at him. He shrugged his shoulders and wrapped an arm around my waist.

"Come on, let's go upstairs." I sighed as we walked up the stairs. He walked through the hallway like he knew his way around. He must have if he had a key. He opened a door to one of the smaller rooms, "An office for work, but when it comes time - a nursery." He smiled for a second before pulling the door open which led to a bathroom, "A half bath which connects to a guest room, and down that way," He pointed to the opposite end of the hall, "Two more rooms."

I shook my head, confused about what he was telling me. I went to stop him before he pulled open the door. It was the biggest with a view overlooking the huge backyard. I stared out the window, looking at the sunset. "And the best room with the best view for the best woman." Chris kissed my head from behind. I shut my eyes to think about what he was implying and I didn't like it.

"What is this?" I asked.

"A house," Chris chuckled, "Our house. Our home. " He said it so seriously, it made my stomach churn. I stared into space for a moment, "You bought us a house in Boston." This couldn't be true. I had to be dreaming. "Well, no. I just put the down payment on it."

I nodded and glanced around. This space didn't seem as beautiful as it was before. I swallowed my guilt for thinking that. "I think I've seen enough." I huffed out before walking back downstairs. Chris followed me, "Okay." The car ride and elevator were quiet. The only thing going through my mind was Chris paying for a house without asking me about it. Especially one that was so far away from my family. Yes, I like Boston, but I can't raise a kid here.

"Say something," Chris demanded after I took a shower and was standing in my robe in front of the mirror. I must have spaced out again just standing here. "Sorry. Just trying to remember how we go here."

"Where?"

"To you buying a house without me, Chris." I sighed. "You didn't even give me a hint as to what you were doing, and then you showed it to me like I was just going to say 'Yes, baby. Let's have our friends pack the U-Haul for us tonight and move in right away. Plus, we were saving money, and now, it's gone."

Chris rolled his eyes, "See, this is why I did it. I'm not asking you to move in right now. I'm just putting the offer on the table, and I paid for it with my own money." He shrugged his shoulders, "I know it's a lot, but we're not getting any younger."

"Why are you so nonchalant about this?" I questioned louder than I wanted to. "You act like you're not deciding our future with every decision you make."

Chris groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose, "I didn't know the future of us depended on me so much, Y/N. It's a house, not me shackling you to me for life." I threw my hands up and walked away, "My god! I wish you would have done that instead."

Chris followed after me, turning me around with my pull on my arm, "What is your problem?"

"I think we're moving too fast, Chris."

"What?"

I rolled my eyes and bit my cheek before speaking, "I love the house and Boston. I love you, but I'm not ready to move away from my family in LA." I dropped my arms by my side and stepped back to give myself some breathing space. Chris shook his head, "Y/N, I moved away from mine. You'll be fine because you're starting a new one here."

"I didn't ask you to move. You moved because of your career, and I am not you." I snapped.

Chris scoffed, "This is about a ring, isn't it?" I blinked because it was. All these things he keeps proposing to me are supposed to happen after he proposes to me. This is how I dreamed it to be ever since I was a kid. I'll get married first and then everything else happens. Marriage was and still is the first thing I want in life.

When I didn't answer fast enough, Chris nodded and pulled one of his rings off his finger. Then, he grabbed my hand, placing the oversized ring on my finger harshly. It hung from my finger. The cold metal made me want to shiver. "There. Are you happy now? You have a ring. Now, you can act like a fucking adult and talk to me."

I stared down at his ring until tears swelled in my eyes, "Don't belittle me." I whispered.

"Oh, I'm not doing it on purpose, baby," Chris walked away, "But, it's hard to have a conversation without who thinks we're moving too fast because she does have a fucking ring to prove that I love her." He yelled out loud.

"This wasn't even about a ring, Chris. It was about that damn house." I yelled back. "I am not leaving my family behind while you get to have yours. I'm not starting a family right when our careers are at an all-time high. I just can't." I confessed before I knew what I was doing. When I looked back at Chris, he was staring at me with a look of anger and disappointment on his face. I stood there, waiting for a response; one that I hoped would be "You're right, baby. I'm sorry".

Instead, he said, "Then maybe I shouldn't be asking you to start a family with me. Maybe I should leave it at that." He ripped his head for a moment before looking back up at me. "Let's just drop this," He raised his hands for a moment, "I think we had enough for the night."

I stood still my body completely frozen and didn't respond. Chris started to walk past me. I heard the door close. With it, my tears fell and wouldn't stop coming. I sat back down on the edge of the bed and rested my head against the wall. After a few moments, I lifted my head and looked at the ring on my finger. I could still feel its coldness from the ring on my finger. It didn't feel right. I don't think it ever will. I didn't recognize this person I was waking up to every morning. I didn't want the love I was receiving, fake and forced to get what he wanted. Then, what? After I give him a baby, then what happens to us?

I lay there for hours, crying until I felt exhausted and just fell asleep on the bed.

The sunlight came through the window of the living room. I winced at first, wiping my eyes. I glanced at the clock on the microwave. 5:30 am. I groaned, stretching my arms out above me before falling back onto the couch, and grabbing my phone. Parts of last night came flooding through my mind head. I sighed and hit my head on the back of the couch. I'm such a fucking idiot who can't keep his mouth closed. I thought. If she'd just let me explain...

No. She wouldn't.

I didn't have to tell her that I wasn't going to start a family with her at all, and the whole stunt with the ring wasn't the best idea. I did want to marry Y/N, but I also wanted to show her how committed I was to her and our future. I thought looking at houses was the best way, and when I saw that house, I just knew it was right for us. Right for her. She deserves the best.

I sighed, rising from the couch finally. I went to the bedroom door and knocked. She should be up by now. "Y/N. Baby." I called after her, but there was no answer. I twisted the knob, pushing open the door to find the room empty. I walked to the bathroom, and she wasn't there.

"Y/N!" I called throughout the whole hotel room, but I was met with silence. I went to walk towards the balcony before something on the counter caught my attention. I walked over, seeing a piece of paper with Y/N'S handwriting:

I'll see you around. Do good. - Y/N

I took a deep breath as if holding myself back from crying. Underneath the paper sat my ring, staring back up at me.
