Y/n was beaming with confidence today. He made sure Spinel stayed behind so the chances of a freakout would be lessened. Steven would be dealing with a corrupted gem today.
Unity: Return... in... one... piece... Y/n and...
Y/n: Yes?
Unity: Don't... cause... trouble...
Y/n: I won't!
The horde of shards warp away as Y/n slightly frowns. He shakes his head before moving towards the beach. Thoughts about the day quickly fix the frown.
Y/n: Steven is going to try and heal the corrupted gem! If I can make sure her relocation is smooth, it should help him in the long run.
Y/n approaches the door before knocking on it. He couldn't lie, it was going to be fun knowing that Garnet couldn't see what he had planned. Especially since the fact that this could be the first uncorruption of the show.
Finally Garnet opens the doors
Garnet: Y/n.
Y/n: Garnet. Nice to see your doing alri-
Before he could continue he gets pulled up into the air, turned around, and held like a stuffed animal. Safe to say Garnet was happy that she got the whole day with the 'weak' Y/n. A fact she didn't want Y/n or Unity to know
Y/n: Oof. Hard light is definitely... hard, I can't believe people think your squishy?
Garnet: Mmm.
With a hum he is taken to the bubble room as the gems and Steven stare at Y/n
Pearl: Why did you agree to this?
Garnet: I lost a battle of will
She says before giving Y/n a squeeze and letting him go. Enjoying the yelp of sudden emotion from Y/n
Steven: Here it is!
Steven jumps up and grabs a bubbled gem. Y/n is let go before going to Steven's landing location
Steven: Gotcha!
Pearl: Is that...
Steven: It's Centipeedle. If I can help any of them, I want to help her first.
Amethyst summons her whip and reels in a bubbled Chaps to her.
Amethyst: Don't forget these!
Steven: Chaaaaps! They're her favorite! Okay. You guys ready?
Garnet nods while Amethyst and Pearl brace themselves. Steven pops the bubble and the Centipeetle begins to regenerate. Y/n smiles at the sight seeming to be the only one to focus on the threads
Amethyst: Come on dude, do your thing!
Pearl: Be careful!
While Centipeedle is regenerating, Steven licks his hand and slaps it on her gem, causing a bright light to engulf the place. The gem is healed, turning Centipeedle back into a humanoid with arms and legs. The Gems gasp in surprise.
Pearl: Is it working?
Centipeedle turns around, revealing she is still semi-corrupted, and screeches loudly at the Crystal Gems. She stares at Y/n though as he simply looks back at her aswell with a smile. It was intimidating that he didn't flinch at all. Y/n calmly meets Centipeedle's gaze, unfazed by the intimidating screech. The Gems are on edge, but Y/n's confidence remains steady.
Y/n: Steven, keep going. I've got this.
Garnet raises an eyebrow, curious about Y/n's assurance. As Steven continues his healing attempt, Y/n approaches Centipeedle, extending a hand.
Y/n: Hey there, Nephrite. We're here to help. No need to be scared.
Centipeedle hesitates for a moment, studying Y/n before slowly reaching out. The connection between them seems almost physical as Y/n pulls out a shard from his pocket. It was one of the large ones as he takes it to her mouth.
Garnet: Y/N!
Steven: What are you doing?
Y/n: Just a test.
Y/n wedges the shard behind her gem as she let's out a cough of acid before falling over. It grazed Y/n's shoulder before he turns Centipeedle onto her back.
Steven: Y/n.... are you alright
Y/n: Yeah? Just doing some surgery
Steven: On gems!?
Y/n: Yep. This is what I didn't want to show you guys by the way.
Garnet: Your showing us now because?
Y/n: We spent some time together. Despite your many, many... many faults. You guys are still pretty nice! Now come over here Steven I may need your help. I also need your spear Pearl
Y/n puts the shard in his mouth putting it into his cheek to save space. He then grabs Pearl's spear that was hesitantly handed to him as he cuts across the body slightly
Steven: Your hurting her!
Y/n: What do you think surgery is? They just put you to sleep and wake you up? Now pay attention, this is very interesting and I may need insight from you guys
Y/n opens the wound as a ball of tangled threads appear. This is what corruption was and why the Diamond's managed to do it to so many gems. All they did was tangle their wires and cut a few aswell.
Y/n: This is going to take awhile...
*Timeskip*
Y/n was focusing hard, he has spent atleast two hours untangling knots and reconnecting some threads using Steven's spit. He couldn't just cut them either, otherwise they might poof and make the damage even worse
Steven: She's been asleep for awhile?
Y/n: DON'T JINX I-
Y/n was suddenly kicked across the room, his back landing hard against stone as he groaned in annoyance. The Centipeedle woke up and is now standing up
Steven: Sorry!
Centipeedle, now fully regenerated and free from corruption, looks around in confusion before noticing Y/n on the ground. The Crystal Gems stand ready, uncertain of the outcome.
Centipeedle: Y/n...
She approaches him cautiously, a mix of gratitude and confusion in her eye. Y/n pushes himself up, rubbing his back.
Y/n: Oof.
Centipeedle hesitates before enveloping Y/n in a tight hug, a gesture filled with newfound emotions.
Y/n: Welcome back.
Garnet: That was unexpected.
Pearl: I never thought I'd see the day a corrupted gem was healed.
Amethyst: Nice job, Y/n.
Y/n smiles, looking at Steven.
Y/n: Team effort.
Centipeedle looks at Steven before jumping into the air. Grabbing the bag of Chaps as he sits down and states at Steven
Centipeedle: Steven! Thank you for these
Pearl: She can speak!?
Y/n: Yeah, guess we fixed that part? Still her body is corrupted and her mind not be intact either. Oh well, time to kno-
Garnet: No. That's enough for today. I don't think you can get up anyway?
Y/n does some effort to try and get up, however he falls over. Something in his body was broken, but he couldn't necessarily tell what?
Y/n: Ugh, oh well. Take me to the living room please, I want to see this.
*Timeskip to Living room*
In the living room, Y/n is carefully settled into a comfortable position as the Crystal Gems and Steven gather around. Centipeedle, still holding the bag of Chaps, sits nearby, observing the scene with curiosity.
Garnet: You should rest, Y/n. Your injuries seem more severe than you're letting on.
Y/n: I'll be fine. I just want to see how this unfolds.
Steven, with a concerned look, glances at Y/n before turning his attention back to Centipeedle.
Steven: So, Centipeedle, how are you feeling?
Centipeedle looks at Steven, and a series of clicks and chitters escape her.
Centipeedle: Grateful. Also, I really appreciates the Chaps.
Amethyst: Never thought I'd see the day a corrupted gem becomes a fan of snacks.
Centipeedle nods enthusiastically, holding the bag close. Pearl, always the practical one, chimes in.
Pearl: We need to assess the extent of her recovery. There might still be residual effects.
Garnet: Agreed. Centipeedle, can you understand us? Are you aware of your surroundings?
Centipeedle responds with a mix of clicks and nods, a voice finally breaking through however.
Centipeedle: I am! This place is... strange?
Steven: That's a good sign!
Y/n: My work is done here. Come pick me up soon Unity. I'm going to take a little nap...
