CHAPTER TWO °❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:･

I had set my alarm earlier than usual last night when I was feeling productive. Now not so much but I was going to get up anyway. To sneak out of the Hermes cabin undetected without waking anyone up is near impossible. Of course when I was walking out the door someone followed.
"Hey Rayn," Alexander whispered, he seemed half asleep still. I have to confess, I was slightly scared what to do if he tried to come onto me without anyone else here.
"Oh hi Alexander," I awkwardly turned around and walked over to the armoury. Still, I heard him following, this isn't good.
"Are you going to practice sword fighting?" He slammed the Hermes door rather loud, I flinched when he did since half the cabin was probably awake now, but wasn't that good for me right now?
"Yeah, just some skills, no actual sword fighting," it was true I was just going to practice skills, alone.
"Can I come along?" Turning around stopped Alexander suddenly. I peeked over at the Hermes cabin to see the door slightly open, he had definitely shut it with that slam before.
"I'll just be practicing while listening to music, if you want to you can I guess." Thank Gods I brought my earphones.

I was woken up at an unhealthy hour by a bang at the door. Knowing I wasn't going to be able to go back to sleep, I decided to find out what had happened. I slightly opened the door to see Rayn getting followed by Alexander, I think that's his name anyway. What was I supposed to do?
Yesterday she told me about him trying to kiss her and grabbing her while she's training. Nobody deserves that even if they are a manipulative maniac.
I quickly got dressed and headed over to the armoury. After making it over to the armoury I saw Rayn training with earphones in, not sure she knew but Alexander behind her wasn't doing anything but looking at her. I had to do something.
"Hey guys," Walking over to them felt like an eternity. What am I doing?
"Can I join your training?" All I got was a smile from Rayn, like she was thanking me. Assuming that's a yes I grabbed a sword and copied whatever she was doing, safe to say I dropped the sword multiple times.

Everyone is sorting out if they are red or blue team, I wasn't sure what to do so I just stood there.
"He can join us," Luke emerged from the blue crowd, thankfully I wasn't going to have to be put on a team randomly if I was last chosen like they would do at Yancy during PE.
"Do you have a helmet?" I just looked up at Chiron-Brunner, was I supposed to go do shopping before I came here?
"Better be ready for a concussion then," Not sure if Luke was joking or not but either way it freaked me out.
"I'm messing with you, here," thankfully I was handed a helmet.
"Alright everyone! Get into positions!" Mr.Brunner called. I was following Luke over near the front but I got grabbed and pulled over a different direction.
"You're with me," a familiar voice explained, is that Rayn's friend? Jeez I have to find out her name.
"Uhm okay," we travelled through the forest, it was going fine until I tripped over a tree root. She looked down at me not doing anything.
"Thanks for just staring at me and not doing anything," She rolled her eyes and kept walking. Is any girl actually nice here? After making it to the top of a small mountain I turned to the girl wondering where to go now.
"You'll do great," she put a cap on that made her disappear.
"What?" Am I just going to be left here alone? I watched as foot prints were made into the dirt, it was useless to follow them.
After doing nothing for around 30 minutes, I heard branches crackling. Looking up I saw Clarisse and her friends again. Again?

After showering and getting ready I headed up to the capture the flag match. Better late than never right?
I saw at the top of the mountain, Percy getting ganged up on by Clarisse and some other Ares kids. Grabbing into my sword I rushed over.
"Clarisse what are you doing!?" Just to make sure I wasn't walking in on some special training, I doubt that though.
"Getting revenge." Knew it. Well with Percy and me here it was still 2v1 but all he could do was defence. So basically it was just me vs 3 of Ares kids.
Immediately Clarisse swung her spear at Percy but he put his shield up to block the hit, still he was electrocuted and shoved the ground. I was fighting against the other 2 while still half looking over at Percy and Clarisse to make sure he was alright. He had a few cuts.
Okay breathe, remember your training. I guess the training worked since I knocked them both down, knowing it was only going to be temporary I grabbed Percy's and to run off.
We were running towards the river until Percy tripped and rolled down the hill. Clarisse was fast, she had caught up to me and we were fighting.
I forgot about the electrocution and swung right at her spear to block it slashing my arm. I was knocked back by the sudden blow. Following Percy down to the lake by rolling.
I cant move though. Everything hurts. Not unconscious but not fully conscious either.

Rayn had come to help me during the group attack, she was now unconscious on the ground beside me.
Why had she helped me? She was taking this trying to get people to like her too far. I needed her to wake up though. I couldn't do this alone.
Clarisse and her friends made it down into the beach. They wasted no time in starting their attacks. I was able to block many of their hits but some were too fast and sliced me.
Eventually two of her friends were down but Clarisse was still swinging her spear at me. She got her spear stuck in between my arm and my shield so I rolled over on my side. *snap*
I looked down at the half of the spear that I did have.
"NOOO!!!!!" Hearing her scream scared me, it was so raw, so real. I'm not going to lie I thought she was going to murder me. She ran over to me, grabbed my armour and lifted me up so I was on my tippy toes. Then a horn went and cheering emerged from the trees. The blue team had won.
Clarisse dropped me and walked away into the woods, the others followed. Rayn was still unconscious on the floor, I didn't know what to do I just stared at her. Luke dropped the flag and ran over to her.
"Ray! What happened to her!" Stunned, it took me awhile to answer.
"C-Clarisse attacked me and Rayn came to help me." For some reason I thought Luke would be mad at me. "I don't know what happened, she blocked her spear with her sword and it looked like a blast happened." Luke looked understanding like he knew exactly what happened.
I was still stood in shock at what had just occurred. Rayn had been taken to the infirmary.
The blue team were still celebrating at the side but the girl with her cap appeared.
"Were you there the whole time?" I asked, if so why didn't she help her friend?
"Yeah." She still didn't deny anything she did, no shame.
"Why didn't you help!" She was making me angry now. She didn't answer, just walked over right in front of me.
"I'm sorry," good, she knew she messed up-
One second I was standing up on the beach, now I had been shoved into the water by this girl.
"What is wrong with you!" What is her problem. Everyone turned to look at us after my scream. I felt tingling around my cuts, I went to feel the one on my cheek but it had been healed.
"I-I don't understand," was this water magical?? All of a sudden everyone stared above me, so I looked up to see a glowing, blue trident. What is that?
"Your dad's calling," the girl said. So my father is, Poseidon?

The day after I was claimed was pretty dull. Not just boring dull, but the flowers surrounding camp had died. Was Rayn the one keeping them alive?
Last I heard she was still unconscious from being electrocuted, then to make it worse she was blasted down onto the hard rocks.
Remembering the field we talked in with all the flowers she grew I rushed over to check on them. They were all drooping and dead. That made me finally decide to go visit her in the infirmary.
Hesitating at the door, I noticed there were flowers laid outside the door. Some pink, some white, some blue but one stuck out to me. A black rose? Ignoring the rose, I slowly opened the door making sure to be quiet and not crush the roses. There she was.
She had small cuts all over her, there were bloodied bandages on here arm, thigh and hand but the one that really caught my eye was a large bandage covering across her chest. I didn't realise how badly she got hurt, because of me... Shut up Percy! Don't let your guard down, remember who she really is.

I had woken up but hadn't opened my eyes, everywhere hurt. Especially my hand I was holding my sword. I'd been hearing people coming in and out all day, this guest was different, they didn't come and go quickly. Still feeling their presence beside me I opened my eyes.
"Percy?" Jeez my voice sounded raspy. He seemed to be examining all my injuries, looking me up and down.
"Why'd you do it?" Ehh, a thanks would've been nice.
"You needed help, so I gave it." It wasnt a lie, I also just wanted to give Clarisse a taste of her own medicine. That didn't work out the best for me since she was probably training and I'm here stuck in the infirmary.
"I don't need your help. Stop acting so nice to me." What was his problem? I saved him, trained him, helped him and all I get is attitude? He started walking away but I wasn't going to let him just walk away. I stormed after him, wobbling a little.
"Are you serious!? I saved you and all I get is a 'I don't need it,' maybe you think since you were claimed by Poseidon that your special now, but you are just like the rest of us!" I was now facing him, he looked shocked.
"You're just like Clarisse. Downgrading the new kids." He snapped back. Just. Like. Clarisse!? I just got my ass beat by Clarisse to save him!
Just before I was about to scream at him for being ungrateful again, my knees gave out.
Maybe I shouldn't have gotten out of bed so quickly. To my surprise before I hit the ground Percy caught me. Looking up at him, watching him slowly go blurry. Until everything went black.

Holding her in my arms, I yelled for help. Nobody was around. The only thing that came to my mind to do was to bring her back into the infirmary.
Already supporting her head I slipped my hand underneath her legs to bring her back over. Carefully I brought her back, I think I stepped on the roses coming back in, what does it matter now.
Swiftly making it over to the door, I looked back at her. She looked so peaceful, even though we were screaming at each other not so long ago.

2 days had passed since I checked on Rayn. I didn't want to see her again.
Speedily I made my way over to the armoury. I was looking around for Luke I found him but he was talking with someone, Rayn.
They were in a deep conversation, she still had the bloodied bandages on from before just newer ones, plus the one on her hand where she held the sword during the fight. I wasn't going to hide away from Rayn. If she didn't want to be around me then she could leave.
"Hey," I said casually to Luke and Rayn, trying to ignore the screaming match we had before.
"Bye." Rayn stomped off. Guess she wasn't happy with me still.
"What's her problem?" Turning to Luke, hopefully she hadn't told him anything.
"Not sure," Phew, Rayn hadn't twisted the story yet to make Luke hate me.
"You should go ask her that question." Is he being serious?
"Do you want me to die?" That made Luke chuckle.
"Just go, it's better to be on her good side, trust me." What did that mean?
"Fine." It felt like I didn't have much of a choice since Luke wouldn't let me get a sword.

Was he being serious? Acting like nothing happened. I trudged off away from the armoury, it wasn't like I could do sword fighting anyways with my hand.
Of course, the second I'm out of everyone's view Clarisse and her friends are here.
"Well look who it is," she is trying to sound sly but I'm not in the mood.
"What will you do now without your spear? That was the real reason everyone was afraid of you." Not my best idea to make the daughter of Ares angry while I'm alone with her death gang.
"You sure that's why?" Clarisse came closer to stand only a few centimetres away, looking me dead in the eye. She grabbed my hand where my sword was held. "Let's look at the damage I left."
Painfully Clarisse ripped the bandages off to reveal the palm of my hand was a mix of black, burnt parts and skinned, bloodied areas. She lifted my hand up in the air.
"I think this is why people are scared of me." Dropping my hand aggressively, I was shoved to the ground. The daughter of Ares nodded for her friends to follow her, leaving me on the ground.
I was trying to get up with one hand to not get the open wound infected.
"What happened to you?" Turning to see Percy I sighed. This day really wasn't my day.
"Clarisse happened." The moment I spoke her name, he rushed over to help me up. Percy was trying to peek at my sword hand since I was holding it up.
"Show me your hand," why is he being nice all of a sudden. Reluctantly, I held my hand out to him. "Is this from the fight we had with Clarisse?"
"Well obviously, I haven't been in any battles from the infirmary bed." Seemed to me he didn't like that answer.
"Rude." Is he really trying to say I'm rude after I saved him during a fight, got beat up and then he said he didn't need any help. I ripped my hand away from his grasp.
"Seriously!? I'm rude!?" I stormed off to the field to try to calm myself down. Percy tried to follow me but Chiron called his name.

Just trying to be nice, but she wasn't happy with that. I tried to follow her to the field but Chiron yelled for me.
"Yes Mr.Bru- Chiron?" Hopefully this wouldn't take long so I could try be nice to Rayn again.
"Zeus's lightning bolt was stolen." Why is he telling me this??
"Who stole it?" I wondered, what did he expect me to do.
"You did." Dionysus exclaimed.
"What?" I was even more confused now.
"Zeus is looking for a thief, sees a forbidden child claimed by his jealous brother. It isn't looking good for you." Mr.D summed up what was happening.
"We need you to find it," Chiron finally spoke. "But first you must do something."

I was left in some creepy attic, staring at some extremely old lady that looked like she had been dead since the ice age.
"I was told it isn't a quest until you say so," why was I even speaking to it?
"Which is weird since you're like a Halloween decoration." Suddenly the old corpse sat up straight in the chair, opened her mouth which made green smoke spew out, forming my....stepdad?
"Seriously!?" Was this just a huge joke on me? I looked around the room until it spoke.
"You will be betrayed, by the one that calls you friend." Quickly all the smoke went back inside of her mouth and she looked as dead as when I walked in. I recited the whole 'prophecy' in my head, trying to understand it.

Chiron told me I could pick 3 people to join this quest. Looking over the people he said were the best at camp there was , Luke, Clarisse , Rayn, I finally found out the girls name is Annabeth and some other people I haven't met at camp yet. I didn't want to hear names, I knew who to choose.
"Annabeth." Chiron looked shocked I spoke already.
"Usually one waits to hear a name or two first." Maybe what I did was weird but I'm used to being labelled odd.
"Look, for this quest we need someone who isn't afraid to push me down a flight of stairs for this quest to succeed." That must've been a good answer for him since Annabeth was now at my side, waiting for me to call out the next name.
"Rayn." This would either be my best or worst idea. Shocked she looked up at me.
"What?" I guess she didn't expect me to choose her after all of the fights we've had.
"Ms.Fairbourne come stand up here you've been chosen." Rayn walked over to stand beside Annabeth, whispering something in her ear.
"And your last companion for this quest will be?" I didn't want anyone here to go.
"Grover." Everyone looked shocked towards me, except Mr.Brunner.
"Alright, get ready to go, Grover will be at the Pegasus fields."

I made it to the fields to tell Grover the good news.
"Hey," I wasn't sure if I could contain my excitement.
"Hey, sorry I couldn't make it to your quest ceremony, who'd you choose?" If only he knew.
"I chose you." I don't think he believed me because he looked at me like I'm insane.
"No seriously, who'd you choose?"
"I chose you." I repeated. He gasped.
"I'm going to pack the best snacks!" Grover could always put a smile on my face.
I was going to make sure to say goodbye to Luke before we left.
"You know I thought about choosing you before I chose Grover." It was true, it's just that I didn't want to be betrayed.
"Hey, Grover is a lot stronger than people think," it's true, he knocked my stepdad out cold. There was a box beside him that he picked up. After opening the lid it revealed converse with wings. "Maia." It was magic. The wings started flapping, if he left go of the shoes they would've flown away with a mind of their own.
"Woah," I was speechless.
"Here, to help you on your quest."

I didn't expect or want him to choose me, but here I was packing my bag to find Zeus's master bolt. After I packed my bag I went over to the infirmary to get my bandages changed and get a med-kit.
Grover and Percy were staring at Annabeth and I say goodbye to Thalia's tree.
"They're really gonna miss that tree huh?" I heard Percy say behind me. Annabeth didn't seem to like that.
"She was a hero, she fought valiantly. She met a hero's fate." It was true Thalia sacrificed herself for us.
"She met a pinecones fate." Percy said pointing at the tree. Annabeth scowled at that remark. I fell behind the group, not just because I'm slow from my thigh cut but I wanted to grow flowers for Thalia.
I touched the bark on her tree, for white and gold flowers to emerge from the ground all around the tree roots. After I looked up I saw everyone staring at me.
"Woah," Percy just stared at the flowers and then back at me.
"I can just grow flowers, not that impressive," I was sick and tired of people thinking I'm special for growing flowers.
"You didn't just grow flowers." I looked up to see the tree had pink blossoms on it now, 2 flowery vines wrapped around it and the flowers were poking out at different crevices in the bark. Stunned for a moment but I remembered that we had a timed quest.
"Come on let's go." We walked off from the tree, setting out on our adventure.
