~ [Flashback] Grim's POV ~
"This should be far enough, I think?" I huffed while I warily looked back to see if that 'thing' was still behind us.
It's not after us anymore. That's a relief.
"Owww... What was that thing? No one said there'd be anything like that!" Ace whined, panting in exhaustion.
"That was no normal ghost, that's for sure." Deuce responded.

Everyone took their time to recover from that one heck of a chase. Moments later, I saw Ace slowly headin' towards the direction of where the mirror was as he was twistin' his shoulders.
"Let's just give up and go home. I'll happily take the expulsion if it means never having to fight that thing again." Ace nonchalantly said.
Deuce's eyes widened, bewildered at his statement. "What?! Nuh-uh, not happenin'! I'd rather die than get expelled from Night Raven! How can you give up when the stone's right there?"
"Pfft- Big talk from someone who's not even half the mage I am." Ace mocked, smiling wryly.
He waved his hand as we watched him slowly walk away, "You want the stone so bad? Then go get it yourself. I'm out."
Huh? I heard a 'tch' from Deuce.
"uh... Deuce? Ace?" Y/N spoke in a nervous voice, forcing themself to smile. "Why don't we all keep calm and talk-"
"Oh YEAH?! Fine! Go back to your coop, you big chicken!" Deuce growled. Y/N and I jumped at his sudden switch of personality. Is that even Deuce?
"Whaaaaaat?! Who're you callin' chicken, huh?" Ace teased, making a wry smile.
Y/N facepalmed, grumbling. "Ughh... Guys, please."
"Woah... Deuce... Is it just me, or did you like, turn into a totally different person just now?" I asked.
His eyes widened. Deuce let out a cough as he composed himself, "Huh?! Uh... Sorry... Lost my cool for a second there..."
I glanced at Y/N, and they sighed in relief.

"So... What now?" Y/N asked.
"Can't you guys blow that thing up with magic?" I wondered. Wouldn't stopping that thing become easier if we just do that?
Both Deuce and Ace replied, sayin' that we can't just use lots of magic energy to defeat it. Ace explained even more by talking about magicians needin' to train in controlling magic and that academies exist for that.
"Ohh... I thought that casting magic would just come naturally for magicians." Y/N pondered.
"Nope. Although if magic's your specialty, you can use it more intuitively." Ace told Y/N, and they nodded in response.
"Anyway, we need to find some way to defeat that creature and get the magestone." Deuce said.
"Yeaahh yeah. Just like that time with the chandelier, right?" Mocked Ace with a teasing grin.
"You "found some way," and now here we are. We fought that thing and it creamed us. So what exactly is your plan here, genius? Because I sure don't trust you to improvise."
Deuce cracked his knuckles like he was ready to brawl. "What?! You're the one who-".
"Aaand they're at it again..." I rolled my eyes. This is getting tiresome...
Y/N seemed too quiet, so I glanced at them only to see their face darkened.

Y/N stomped their foot, making Deuce and Ace stop their quarrel midway.
"... I. HAD. ENOUGH! Could you guys SHUT THE FUCK UP FOR A SEC?" We all gasped at their sudden yellin'...
"Whoa, that was loud. Where'd that come fro-"
"Y'ALL FIGHTING AND GETTING ANGRY ISN'T GONNA GET US ANYWHERE HERE!" Y/N cut me off.
*A/N: 🎵 but you didn't have to cut me off ~🎵 Sorry, i couldn't help it... That was cringe. Move on pls... Qwq*

Y/N was fuming at us. We all remained tense as they lectured Ace and Deuce for fightin' a lot, including me...
Then, Y/N scolded me for runnin' away from my punishment of washing the windows and causin' trouble.
Ace, for the same reason. Also, about him insulting and teasing us on day one.
And Deuce, for not thinkin' first before throwing Ace at the chandelier to catch me.
Henchhuman was really angry and scary, I held my head down and listened...
But I didn't want to clean!
I'm the great Grim! I was supposed to become the greatest mage! Study at NRC and go WHAM! and BOOM! Like what a great wizard would do! Not a stupid janitor!...
But then, Y/N is really nice. Ever since I got here, they took care of me... I guess I did cause a lot of trouble for them...

I think I heard a vein popped from Y/N... Yikes...
Y/N suggested that we work together, but Ace and Deuce were against the idea.
Ace mocked them... Again... Tellin' Y/N that they say the lamest things with a straight face. Even Deuce agreed with him. Man, Ace don't know when to keep his mouth shut.
"You little- Would you guys rather get FUCKING expelled than cooperate? EXPELLED? ON YOUR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL? Huh?!" Y/N looked nearly as red as a tomato...
We all tensed up with our mouths agape. Our jaws looked like they're gonna drop on the floor.
"What? You guys gonna let your ego take over and get expelled, huh? Is that what you little shits want?"
Both boys looked away from Y/N. Probably ashamed.
"Well... Getting expelled on your first day of school... It's pretty lame if you'd ask me." I cut in. It was true though.
Ace and Deuce seemed utterly admit it in silence.
Y/N turned to me and glared at me with a furious face. I jumped, and then looked away... I should've stayed quiet...

A big sigh was let out from Y/N.
"Urgh... OMG..." Both hands covering their face.
"... I'm sorry. I'm really sorry... That was uncool of me for yelling at you guys. I'm sorry..." Y/N winced.
"But yes. Grim is kinda right... Honestly. Lamer than not 'quote, unquote', "working together"." Y/N said with a straight face. Yeeeesh...
"Urk-" Both boys grimaced.
That threw another heavy blow on their ego. Yikes... Seems like Ace and Deuce never felt more ashamed than they were now.
I snickered.
"And you, Grim..." Y/N turned to me.
MYAH! Another lecture?!
"... Please dude, just don't run away from your fucking responsibilities and cause more trouble." They pinched their nose bridge, squintin' their brows.
And then turned to Ace, "And you too! Although, knowing you guys..." Y/N quietly muttered the last sentence.
We both looked away from Y/N in shame...
And everyone went silent...

Y/N decided to break the silence.
"Haizzz... Look. If you guys are WILLING to work together and avoid expulsion, will you hear out my plan?" They asked us.
We glanced at each other.
Then, Ace decided to speak up, "Gah... Fine... Let's just get this over with, then... Aight! What's the plan, then? Y/N?"
We all looked at Y/N, waiting for their answer...

"Is it... over?..." Ace panted, chasing his breath. So did all of us...
We looked at the monster to see it slowly breaking apart... Relief overcame everyone.
"I think... we won? I think we did it!" I smiled.
"ALL RIGHT!"
"WOOHOO!"
Deuce and Ace were overjoyed, and Y/N was happyily crying.
Dang! We all did amazin'! "Gimme a victory high five!!!" I gleefully raised my forepaws.
A victory high five, everyone did. We all huddled together, lettin' out a cheer while we celebrated.
Y/N chuckled, "Man... You guys are adorable!" They giggled as they wiped their tears. "Shared adversities really do bring people together..."
We were suddenly flustered at what Y/N said, breaking the group circle we just did.
"Uh... I don't think that had anything to do with it." Deuce refuted as he crossed his arms, looking away.
"Yeah! Spare us the clichés, Y/N!" Ace pouted, looking the other as Deuce did.
"Hey! There's no "together" here! We won 'cause of me! This is all from me bein' a magical genius!"
Damn right, it was all me! Hmph!
Everyone else chuckled.
What? Why're they laughin'?

Both Ace and Deuce looked like they have somethin' to say to Y/N.
"Y/N... Y'know-"
"Uuoooghhhh..." A voice cut Ace off. "Giivee back stooone..."
We all looked at the source of the voice... It was the ink monster we defeated minutes ago... I could feel my fur standing up.
"What the heck?! It's still alive?" I trembled.
"Dammit... We can't fight anymore..." I could hear Deuce breathing heavily.
Ace just stood quiet, eyes open wide at the thing.
"Fuck- Everyone! Head towards the mirror!" Y/N yelled.
"GuuOooOOOOOOOGHHHHHH! STONE MIIINNNEEE!!!!" The roar was the signal we needed to start running.

"ONE LAST ATTACK GUYS!" Y/N yelled.
"GRIM!" Ace called out to me.
"EAT THIS!" I blew out blue flames at Ace's wind magic as I rode on Y/N's shoulder.
Then, Deuce waved his magic pen at the creature, "I summon thee. CAULDRON!"
It did some damage, but its not slowin' down for some reason. I huffed in exhaustion. I can't blow any more fire...
Everyone just continued running to were the mirror was. Heck! WHY'S THE MIRROR SO FAR AWAY?!
"fuck. Fuck. FUCK. HOLY FUCKING SHIT WHY'S IT FASTER THAN BEFORE?!" Y/N kept cursing.
Deuce squinted his brows at Y/N, "*huff *huff... Language Y/N! SHIT-" He almost tripped.
"NOT THE FUCKING TIME, DEUCE!" Yelled Ace. He remembered something.
"Oh fuck. Y/N! The mirror needs around minute to start up!"
"Oh my fucking sevens- SHIT! Uhhh..." Y/N panicked. They're trying to think of something...
We continued to run while we were impatiently wait for their answer.
"What do we do, Y/N? MYAH! IT'S GETTIN' CLOSER!" I screeched when I looked to see the monster running closer and closer.
"Uhhh... Ummm... Urghhhh... BAH! FUCK IT! GRIM! Grab on to Deuce! You guys go on ahead!" Y/N replied.
"Oi! What are you-"
I jumped onto Deuce's back, while Y/N took something out of their pocket.
Y/N waved the thing at it, "YOOHOOO~ I got your stone! COME GET 'EM, BITCHBOI!" Y/N ran in the other direction away from us.
The monster roared, their focus locked unto them, "GIIVE BAAAAAAACK!!!"
"YOU GOT A DAMN' DEATH WISH Y/N?!" Ace yelled.
"START THE MIRROR FOR ME! I'LL COME BAAAAAAaaackk!" Y/N continued running 'til we could no longer hear them screaming.
"Y/N! ARE YOU CRAZY?! COME BACK!" I called out to them, but they were already far away...
Deuce handed me over to Ace.
"Ace, Grim, you guys go start the mirror. I'll go get Y/N."
"Oi- Not you, too! Wait-" And Deuce dashed away.

Me and Ace just arrived at the mirror. He rushed to start the mirror.
I panted, "What was Y/N thinking?!" Are they crazy?! They're gonna get killed!
Ace let out a sharp breath as I paced back and forth. Y/N told us to wait...

.
It's been like... 2 minutes...?
Ace already had the mirror ready, but Deuce hasn't come back with Y/N yet...
...
Ace bit his nails, anticipatin'. So did I...
They aren't gonna take any longer... Right?...

"Wait, Grim-? OI! HEY!"
I left Ace and ran to the direction of Deuce's scent.
"GRIM!"

• Deuce went after you first. What shit is he gonna witness himself? :0
• Grim was literally worried when you let the blot monster chase after you. Ace did so, too. (He couldn't admit it though).
• I did thought that maybe the mirror would automatically get you to any place you want. But then I'm like, yeah, let's make it longer.
They need a clear imagination of the school after all in order to get there, and being in a prickly situation's gonna get them to the afterlife instead XD.
• You guys have gotten quite closer with le bois since the teamwork you got there Qwq.
• Mmmmm.... I think I'm gonna add a new tag now... #angst hehehhehehhe. I hope I portray it well Qwq.
• I learned a lot of new words today :D. And learned that writing as how a character would narrate is hard... D:
