That was her punishment for breaking the law; her mother's solution to keep her out of jail—though Amaya was convinced it was just her nice way to kick her out of the house.
She arrived in England, at Immigration Department of the Ministry of Magic and was made to promise not to do anything illegal.
But she had a mission, you see? And if it was slightly out of bounds of the Wizarding legal system that was entirely not her fault—her father was the one who gave her the key to end the war; how could she just stand by and watch it happen?
And so, she went looking for Dumbledore, and became a member of the Order of the Phoenix—which was definitely not a cult—despite the mistrust and secrets brewing under the surface.
And now she's living with the Potters and every day she starts trusting the people around them, despite every instinct that tells her she's not worthy of their care. But James Potter can be quite convincing and seems to have made it his mission to make her feel loved.

and, if you notice similarities between Amaya (my OC) and Ace, my OC from the Six of Crows ff I have up, it's because this story was loosely inspired by Outlaw (my SoC ff), only it's my attempt at translating it into the Wizarding World and such, and making it different in a way (again, loosely inspired, it's mostly some of the backstory (if that)).
