You and your boyfriend, Heeseung, have been dating for a good year now, there have been highs and lows but you guys never had any major conflicts. And with Christmas around the corner, your relationship was as good as ever!
"Y/N!" Your friend, Tina, waved you over from a table she was sitting at as you entered a small cafe. The 2 of you had planned to meet up and hang out before going to a Christmas party later on at your guys' university.
"Hi Tina!" you greeted. As you approached the table, Tina was silently tapping the table happily, waiting for you to sit down, she was excited to see you again
"So, how've you been? I felt like I haven't seen you in forever" Tina says, you sigh deeply with a smile still on your face, it has been a while since the two of you have seen each other due to busy schedules, so with the luck of Christmas miracles, today was surprisingly open for the both of you!
"I've been doing great, nothing too surprising" you reply. Tine lets out a small nod as she begins to shift the topic
"So, any plans for Christmas today? I know theres the party at the University today but that's nothing important" Tina asks, you press your lips together as you try to think of an answer. After a few seconds you smile and say a few things
"Me and Heeseung are planning to go somewhere tomorrow for Christmas, but that's only if our families don't have anything planned" you reply. Tina smirks mischievously as she raises an eyebrow
"Heeseung huh? how long have you guys been going out? A year right? I wonder when he's gonna pop the question" Tina teases. You shake your head jokingly while crossing your arms
"Nah, I'd like to date for another year or 2, you know, just to make sure. But he's a great guy, wouldn't trade him for the world" you laugh, Tina rolls her eyes at your statement, she knew you would say yes if he were to ever purpose, but oh well, we'll see when it happens.
The two of you continue to talk for another hour, catching up with each other as you guys ordered a few drinks here and there. As time drew closer, the two of you decided to head back to the university for the Christmas party, it was almost time and you guys didn't want to be late.
"You're kidding! I thought you guys met through a friend?"
You and Tina had been talking about how you and Heeseung had met since you guys left the cafe, Tina was absolutely flabbergasted at every single thing coming out of your mouth
"Nope! When we were auditioning for this university, he was supposed to perform at a show first but I was told I was next, the judges didn't have enough time to do both of us separately so we had to sing together, but coincidentally we had chosen the same song to sing so we did a duet" you explain. Tina laughs, snorts following her noises
"That's crazy!" She giggles, the two of you then enter the University's gym, where the party was said to be, loud music was immediately filled into you ears, the sounds of chatters all around while a faint smell of snacks and foods followed the music around
"Y/N! You're here!"
You turn around to see Heeseung running up to you with a drink in hand. He had a black dress pant on, along with a black turtle neck and green trench coat, and wow did he look nice.
"Hi Seung" you say, giving a hug to the taller figure
"I really thought you decided to not come, I was gonna leave in a little bit and head to your dorm" Heeseung says, you shake your head at his statement
"I was just hanging out with Tina. One of my close friends" you explain, Heeseung slowly shakes his head, his eyes were furrowed as he attempted to remember if he knew the girl or not
"Junjoo's girlfriend right?" Heeseung questions. You laugh at his reply, he remembers that but doesn't remember the name, sheesh.
"Yes, Junjoo's girlfriend" you laugh. Tina clears her throat at both you and Heeseung, she stands in front of the two of you with her arms crossed and an obvious raised eyebrow. You awkwardly laugh at the situation before looking at her
"Sorry Tina, this is Heeseung, my boyfriend" you say, you pointed at Heeseung as you introduced the two. Tina laughs at your sudden change in actions, she gives out a hand for Heeseung to shake before smiling at him
"Hello, I'm Tina, Jungjoo's girlfriend, though as you can see, he's not here at this moment" Tina says, Heeseung takes her hand to shake before laughing
"Yeah, he's actually near the food, he was saying something about saving food for his girlfriend when she came by, I guess you can find him there" Heeseung responds. Tina sighs at his statement, what her boyfriend was doing, was neither surprising nor disappointing to her as she expected it
"I guess that's my cue to leave, have fun Y/N, I'll see you next time" Tina waves you and Heeseung good bye before leaving for the snack table, she quickly blends in with the crowd, her hair bouncing as she tried not to bump into anyone. You turn back to Heeseung after watching the girl disappear, Heeseung had already had his eyes on you as he smiled gracefully, he looked absolutely adorable!
"Wanna go find a table at the front? Some people are gonna be performing songs in a bit" Heeseung says, you nod your head yes as you intertwined your hands with Heeseung's, going through this big crowd and getting lost was the last thing you wanted.
"Let's go!" you cooe. Heeseung smiles at your response, he pinches your cheek slightly before guiding you to the front, making sure to keep his grip on you tightly.
"Wow, this is really close to the stage" you say, after going through the bug group of people in the middle, the two of you made it to a table set in front of the performing stage, there were a few taken tables around, but surprisingly this one was open and empty.
"Yeah, I had this one saved for the both of us, thought you'd like to watch things up close since you like watching performances so much. Working committee perks" Heeseung replies. You smile at him, he noticed something as small as that. As Heeseung had said, he volunteered as a helping hand for this party, the working committee, he thought it'd benefit him as a business major since being social was an important thing.
"That's true, thanks Seung" you say. Heeseung pulls out a chair for you to sit in as he sat in another chair besides you, he sits down for a few seconds but quickly stands up again, he looks at his phone before looking back at you
"Sorry, it seems like something went wrong back stage, I'm gonna have to help for a few minutes. I'll be back okay?" Heeseung looks at you with care as he speaks, you don't doubt what he says as you shake your head
"Go ahead, I'll be fine" you smile, Heeseung smiles back before giving you a kiss on the forehead, he leaves quickly, leaving you by yourself.
As a few minutes pass, you continuously looked at your phone as you waited for Heeseung, a few performances had happened already and the stage looked pretty okay and stable from your point of view. And seeing the time the male has been gone for a while, you started worrying where he had gone. But those worries were soon washed away as you heard his voice come from in front of you.
"Hello?" Heeseung was on stage, he was sat on a chair with a guitar on his lap. There was a mic in front of him as a guitar pick was hidden in between his middle and pointer finger
"Uhm, hi everyone. I'd like to say a little something before I perform my little song..." Heeseung makes eye contact with you as he stops talking. He gives a small grin at your surprised expression, you looked absolutely confused. Heeseung somehow sees that as an encouraging sign before taking in a deep breath, he then continues on with his speech, his eyes glancing over the gym that has now gone quiet to hear him
"This is a song I had sung a year ago on this stage, I loved music and I still do, and I'm sure as you all know, this is a performing arts university, so everyone is surrounded by music, dances, and such. But above all, I want to just thank this school for letting me meet the love of my life. It's only been a year but it's been the greatest year of my life. And I'm pretty sure the school isn't even aware of the miraculous things it's doing" Heeseung lets out a chuckle. You laugh along, you had no idea where this was leading up to but you were happy to listen
"When I first came here to audition for a full scholarship here, I was given the choice to perform with another person or not. In honesty, I actually tweaked the rules a bit. I was asked to perform a song of my choice, and coincidentally it was Christmas, so being the holiday filled person I am, I chose a Christmas song. And not so coincidentally, someone else chose the same song..." Heeseung averts his eyes to you
"And without my awareness, this song was what brought me to my current lover, my snowflake in the middle of a snowstorm. And to this day, she believes it was all a small tiny random coincidence." Heeseung smiles
"Y/N, what if I told you it wasn't a coincidence? What if I told you I planned it? Would you believe me?"
Questions were now rushing into your mind, what?
"I had asked the directors if I could do a duet with you, they asked why, I told them why, they laughed at me, but they accepted it, and I can't even explain how much I owe them for accepting my request. I had told them I liked you, so they told me the song you were gonna sing and I practiced it, day and night, up until the performance."
Aww's were heard throughout the room
"And would you look at that Y/N, on the day of the auditions, you were asked to perform and I came up with you, the judges had made a script to act as if it was a mistake and lied about the time squish they had, so we were basically told to do a duet. Would you have believed that it'd bring us together? I still can't believe my measly plan worked and I got the girl and college. Talk about winning!"
You let out a laugh, tears were for some reason flowing down your cheeks as you listened carefully, why was this so heart touching?
"So Y/N, let me sing this song to you one more time,"
Heeseung clears his throat as he fixed his posture on the chair, he made sure the guitar was comfortably stable on his lap before strumming, the sound of the first chord filling the gym.

Before you could comprehend the next verse, a mic was suddenly given to you, you looked up at the person to see Tina smiling with a smirk, she shoved the mic into your hand before backing up. She gives a thumbs up, mouthing a 'good luck' before walking away. You look back at Heeseung, he was giving you a nod, a sign for you to continue the next verse, you sigh slightly, a smile was still plastered on your face, you shake your head at the male teasingly before continuing the song, memories flooding back into your mind

You were now grinning so wide to the point where your eyes were covered in nothing but tears spilling out. This moment was so special to you, all you could do was cry happy tears. Heeseung stands up from his spot, he places his guitar on a guitar stand next to his chair before grabbing the mic on the mic stand. He places it close to his mouth, singing the last verse quietly as he begins to approach you

He ends the song, his eyes attached to yours as he was now standing in front of you. He was holding to one of your hands as he still had the mic to his mouth. He looked deeply into your eyes, a hint of love in the depths of his eyes. He smiles
"Y/N, my beautiful girlfriend," Heeseung says, you let out a low laugh at his compliment, it was funky but you accepted it gracefully
"We've only been dating for a year, but it honestly feels like I've been with you forever, is that good? Haha...I hope you know I love you, even if we don't see each other due to our busy schedules, I'm always thinking of you," Heeseung adds, you shake your head at his small story, a smile forming on your face
"You've said it a couple times that you don't want to advance further for another year or 2, and I've kept that in mind. So for now, instead of doing the so 'advancement', I hope you'll accept this ring as a promise. A promise that when the time comes, it'll happen eventually" Heeseung says, he then takes out a ring box, it was a velvet color with a golden brim around the middle, it looked beautiful.
"Seung..." you whisper, Heeseung shakes his head, a sign telling you he wanted to say a couple more things before hearing your answer
"I'll be sure to take care of you for the rest of my life, through the bad and the good, I'll stay beside you" Heeseung continues. He takes in a deep breath, gripping to your hand more tightly
"So Y/N, would you accept this ring? As a promise" he asks, he bites his lips, putting the mic down as he now gripped it tightly beside him. You grin
"Of course, I'll always say yes for as long as I live" you reply. Cheers were now roaring throughout the gym, Heeseung lets out a sigh of relief as he puts a hand over his chest
"Oh thank gosh, I thought you were gonna say no" Heeseung laughs. You roll your eyes
"Are you gonna put the ring on my finger or not?" you laugh, looking at the box in his hand. Heeseung smiles, he opens the box to reveal a small ring, it wasn't anything too extravagant, but it was perfect.
"And to you, my love" Heeseung says, he slips the ring into your ring finger, giving a kiss on your hand before looking back into your eyes.
"Hey love birds! Look above you!" Tina yells, you look over at the female, surprised by what she said, look up?
"Oh would you look at that" Heeseung chuckles, his head tilted up at whatever was above the two of you, you raise an eyebrow at the male before mirroring his action, looking up at what was above.
There hung a mistletoe, green and red as it twinkled in the spotlight. Heeseung squeezes your hand, bringing your attention back to him. He grins, leaning in as he whispers something
"May I?" He whispers. You smile
"You may" you reply
Heeseung presses his lips against yours as he wraps his arms around your waist, you smile deeper into the kiss, wrapping your hands around his neck. After a few seconds, you disconnect the kiss, looking into the eyes of boy as you were still tippy toeing
"Merry Christmas Hee" you say
"Merry Christmas Y/N" Heeseung replies.
