The compound was much different than the plantation house. It was colder, it felt less homey and like she was a guest here instead of this place being her new home.

Having spent as much time as she did at the plantation house it really became home to her, and now she's having to start over with only half of her family while Rebekah and Elijah remain on "exile".

Klaus had shown Marjorie the room that would be her's, it was just across the hallway from his. There was a balcony that overlooked the garden district of the quarter. It was nicer than her dad's view of bourbon street.

She hadn't gotten to decorate her room or make it her own yet since immediately after getting Hayley and herself to the compound, Klaus had called an elaborate meeting/dinner to celebrate his return to leadership over New Orleans and his repossession of the Abbatoir compound from Marcel.

Marjorie was sitting in between Hayley and Klaus at the large table that had been set up and covered in different kinds of food. The vampires, who funnily enough had literally just been responsible for attacking Klaus which made Marjorie tense and uncomfortable at the fact that she was surrounded by them, including Marcel as they sat around the table.

Klaus gave Marjorie a wink making her sigh, as he stood up clinking his wine glass with a knife gaining the attention of everyone at the table.

"Let us begin with a toast to our shared gift: immortality. After a thousand years, one might expect life to be less keenly felt, for its beauties and its sorrows do diminish with time. But, as vampires, we feel more deeply than humans could possibly imagine." Klaus gestures toward a group of waiters and waitresses to have them join them at the table, one for each guest, except Marjorie and Hayley who watched the scene hesitantly. "Insatiable need, exquisite pain..." Just as Klaus spoke the servants slit their wrists with knives, making Marjorie jump, filling the cups with blood for the vampires. "Our victories, and our defeats." Klaus smirks as he raised his glass towards Marcel. "To my city, my home again. May the blood never cease to flow..."

"...and the party never end!" Marcel says lifting his glass as well

"To New Orleans." Diego added with a grin

"To New Orleans!" Klaus repeated

"New Orleans." Everyone at the table drinks, other than the two girls who were sitting with their arms crossed in boredom

Marjorie was actually getting hungry and the smell of all the food in front of her was not helping any, but watching the servants with blood dripping down their wrists was not exactly appetizing.

"I understand that some of you may have questions regarding the recent change in leadership, and I invited you here tonight to assure you that you are not defeated. No, my intentions moving forward are to celebrate what we have. What Marcel, in fact, took and built for this true community of vampires." Klaus said leaning against the table

"What about her?" Diego asked pointing to Hayley, no one dared to look at Marjorie after Klaus' warning, no one wanting to deal with his wrath. "The wolf."

"Had you'd let me finish, Diego, you would know that there is, of course, one further matter I would like to address. As many of you know, this girl is carrying my second child. Consequently, I trust you will all pay her and Marjorie of course, the appropriate respect. However, I understand that some of you are concerned by this vicious rumor that I intend to use the blood of both of my children to create hybrids. I assure you I do not." Klaus said moving to stand behind Marjorie and place his hands protectively on her shoulders

"Father of the year." Hayley smirked sarcastically making Klaus clench his jaw in frustration

"It appears I will have to earn your trust. Very well. We'll eliminate the root of your anxiety. You see, how I can I sire any hybrids if there are no more werewolves alive in the Bayou to turn?" Klaus offered and Hayley immediately started protesting while Marjorie looked at her father with wide eyes

"What? Klaus, no!" Hayley exclaimed

"So-- eat, drink, and be merry. And, tomorrow, I suggest you have yourselves a little wolf hunt. Go ahead, have fun. Kill them all!" Klaus smirked ignoring the wolfs protests as all the vampires cheered

"Dad. Don't let them do this! The wolf who saved my life is still out there!" Marjorie pleaded as she followed Klaus who started walking upstairs towards his study

"Yes, and while I am thankful it saved your life we don't need it anymore. Now I have the vampires under my rule and they will protect you instead." Klaus said not turning around

"Right, the same vampires that tried to kill Hayley a couple of months ago and who tried to take you down less that 24 hours ago, trusting them makes a lot of sense Dad." Marjorie scoffed sarcastically, jogging up the stairs behind him

"Things are different now Marjorie, they know who's in charge. This is my city now and the vampires answer to me and if killing that mystery wolf is what is going to get them to trust my intentions towards you and the baby then so be it." Klaus responded turning around to face Marjorie who just shook her head

"Whatever, have fun in your stupid therapy session." Marjorie huffed before storming away towards her room leaving Klaus to watch her go with a sigh

He knew he would be putting himself in hot water with Marjorie and also Hayley when he allowed the vampires to kill the wolves, but if it means that the vampires will trust him more and be less suspicious of his intentions towards Marjorie and the baby, hopefully keeping them safer as well.

Then they can be as mad at him as they want, at least they will be safe.

●・○・●・○・●

Marjorie huffed as she slammed the door to her new bedroom before leaning back against it. She couldn't believe how inconsiderate Klaus was being, after everything that wolf has done to keep Marjorie safe he's just going to allow it to be slaughtered like a hog.

Just because of a stupid rumor that isn't even true, because the vampires are scared of the possibility of a greater species. Of one that they can't control.

It was outrageous and Marjorie couldn't help but feel like it was her fault, if it wasn't for what her blood could do then Klaus wouldn't feel like he had to allow the wolves to be killed just to give the vampires peace of mind.

"Screw this." Marjorie mumbled before turning around and opening her bedroom door, just to pause when she saw one of the vampires leaning against the wall outside her room

"Going somewhere?" He asked and Marjorie blinked

"Just to the kitchen, I'm hungry." Marjorie lied and the vampire nodded, shooting her a suspicious look

"Someone will get something for you, Klaus said you weren't allowed to leave the room." He said making Marjorie clench her jaw

"Why?" Marjorie asked and he shrugged

"I don't ask questions. Now, off you go." He nodded back towards her room making Marjorie sigh before going back inside and closing the door

The girl sighed upset that she was confined to her bedroom, she had to get out to the bayou before the vampires. She had to find the wolf that protected her and keep it safe, it's the least she could do.

But how could she get past her new protection detail? Marjorie looked around her room before her eyes locked on the balcony.

"Oh this is such a stupid idea." Marjorie mumbled before walking over to her balcony

The drop was two stories so if she jumped she'd definitely hurt herself, but it was also the only way she could get out of her room. Marjorie's sheets caught her eye and a grin appeared on her face, if they can do it in movies then surly she can too.

Marjorie rushed over and grabbed her sheets before tying them tightly together, she walked over to her balcony and tossed one end over watching it dangle just a couple of feet off the ground.

"Good enough." Marjorie shrugged before tying the other end to the railing

She rushed back into her room and grabbed her phone and gun for protection before walking back to the balcony. Marjorie took a deep breath before swinging one leg over the railing, she grabbed onto the sheet tightly before swinging her other leg over.

Marjorie looked down at the ground nervously before starting her trek down the side of the building, her hands hurt with how hard she was gripping the sheets. They make it look much easier in the movies.

She grunted as she started trying to scale down the side of the compound, her arms burned from holding her weight and her legs were clenched around the sheet tightly trying to keep her from falling.

"Marjorie Pearl Mikaelson!" A voice exclaimed, startling her making Marjorie lose her grip

Marjorie yelped as she plummeted towards the ground, closing her eyes tightly before she was wrapped up in a pair of strong arms.

"Is she ok?!" Another voice gasped

Marjorie pealed her eyes open and looked up to find herself in Elijah's arms and Rebekah rushed over to them.

"I'm fine." Marjorie gulped and the relieved expressions on her aunt and uncles faces melted away into anger

"What were you thinking? You could've broken your bloody neck!" Rebekah exclaimed grabbing Marjorie's hands as Elijah sat her down

"I was just testing out my climbing skills. They need some work." Marjorie chuckled nervously

"Marjorie." Elijah said sternly making the girl look down

"I was trying to sneak out to the bayou. Dad is allowing the vampires to hunt all the wolves to prove to them that he doesn't intend to use the baby's or my blood to make hybrids. But the wolf who saved my life is still out there I can't just sit here and let it be killed." Marjorie explained making Rebekah sigh

"We know, we just spoke to Hayley before we heard the ruckus you were making. Elijah and myself are now roped into being the werewolf rescue squad, so we better get you back inside before your dad blows a gasket." Rebekah said grabbing Marjorie's hand

"No, I want to come with you." Marjorie said staying rooted in her spot

"I'm sorry darling, but it's not safe for you to accompany us. If anything happened to you I wouldn't be able to live with myself." Elijah refused and Marjorie crossed her arms over her chest

"Please? You know that I'll still go anyway, but wouldn't it just be safer if I went with the two of you who can keep me safe, then if I went all alone." Marjorie asked with puppy dog eyes making Rebekah sigh

"You really are Nik's daughter." Rebekah huffed making Marjorie look at them hopefully

"So, is that a yes?" Marjorie asked and Elijah rubbed his forehead in frustration

"You are expected to stay by my side at all times, do you understand?" Elijah asked seriously and Marjorie rapidly nodded

"Yes! Yes, I promise." Marjorie smiled making Rebekah hide her grin, this girl already has them all wrapped around her finger

"Let's go then, hopefully Niklaus doesn't notice your absence." Elijah sighed before gently grabbing Marjorie's arm and pulling her away with Rebekah following

●・○・●・○・●

The trio arrived at the bayou and Marjorie walked between Elijah and Rebekah as they traipsed through the woods. It was eerily quiet, not even the annoying bugs were chirping.

"So, why did you choose to climb out your window instead of taking the stairs?" Rebekah asked her niece as they stepped over some tree branches

"Dad had a vampire body guard hanging around outside my room so the balcony was my only option." Marjorie replied her arms still aching from clutching the sheets so tightly

"Albeit a foolish one." Elijah commented making Marjorie sigh

"I know, that wasn't my smartest decision. Thanks for catching me Uncle Elijah." Marjorie smiled making the noble originals serious facial expression crack for a moment

"I'll always catch you." Elijah responded giving her a small smile

Suddenly, voices could be heard making Rebekah push Marjorie behind herself and Elijah protectively. They creeped forwards and saw a large group of vampires being led by Diego gathered around in a circle.

"Hey, they're obviously here. Fan out, find 'em, and bring me some heads!" Diego instructed but before anyone could make a move, Elijah along with Rebekah and Marjorie appeared a few meters away from them

"I'd rather you didn't." Elijah spoke up gaining the groups attention

"The hell are you doing out here?" Diego asked with furrowed brows as he looked between the trio, his eyes widening slightly when he saw Marjorie. "What is she doing here?! If Klaus finds out she's not in the compound he'll go mad."

"Marjorie is safe under my sister and I's supervision. As for me, I've come to suggest you seek other hunting grounds." Elijah answered making Diego shrug

"Suggestion noted..." Diego said but instead of backing off, he tries to move past Elijah, but Rebekah approaches him instead.

"Oh Diego, it would be such a shame to have to rearrange that pretty face." Rebekah smirked before she swung her arm to punch him in the face, but Diego stops her by grabbing her arm tightly.

Marjorie pulled her gun out of her waistband and shot Diego in the foot making him groan in pain.

"Let her go." Marjorie instructed holding her gun up

Elijah sighed and hid his amusement towards his niece's actions as he grabbed the weapon from her hands making her frown. Rebekah didn't bother hiding her amusement as Diego dropped her arm and reached down ripping the wooden bullet out of his foot.

"That had to hurt." Rebekah said in mock sympathy as she moved to stand next to her niece

"Why the hell do you care about the wolves?" Diego asked as he stood back up

"Generally, I don't. However, this particular clan is not to be touched because of their efforts in protecting my niece along with Hayley and the baby." Elijah pauses a beat and smiles fakely. "Goodbye."

"Bye." Rebekah smiles sweetly and whispers to Diego

"Sorry about the hole in your shoe." Marjorie apologized with a smile making Diego huff before turning to his fellow vampires

"Nothing here anyway." Diego said before leading the hunting party in the other direction

"Ah, great. I think as well our job here is done. We better be getting the little escape artist home now." Rebekah said wrapping her arm around Marjorie's shoulder

"Not quite." Elijah spoke looking off into the distance before suddenly, vamp-speeding away
and after a moment, Rebekah and Marjorie follow behind him

Elijah was standing in front of a petite blonde woman, she was wearing scrappy clothes and looked between the trio hesitantly.

"We're not here to harm you. Hello, again. Eve, was it?" Elijah asked in recognition and the woman, Eve nodded

"One of Hayley's litter-mates, I presume?" Rebekah asked and Eve looked at her

"Hayley sent you here to protect us, didn't she? Tell her we appreciate the concern, but we've been looking out for ourselves for a while now. Nobody finds us unless we wanna be found." Eve said and Rebekah looked at her with raised brows

"Well, we found you, so..." Rebekah trailed off and Eve gives her a look

"Like I said. There's something I thought you and your family should know about." Eve said before she starts walking along the path with a stake and a map in her hands and leads the way for them

"Are we actually following her?" Marjorie asked hesitantly

"I mean you no harm Marjorie. None of us do, there is a reason Killian has kept you safe." Eve said making Marjorie look at her intrigued

"Killian?" Marjorie asked before her eyes lit up. "He's the wolf who saved me isn't he?"

Eve didn't answer but gave her a nod.

"Why?" Marjorie asked, wondering why this Killian went to such lengths to keep her safe

"All in due time. Now follow me." Eve instructed before walking away, giving them no choice but to follow

Marjorie was curious about what Eve knew about why the wolf, Killian was protecting her. The woman had an aura around her that made her seem like she was wise and held a lot of answers, and Marjorie wants some of those potential answers.

Eve led them to the lake where she holds out her large map and points to different sites with her stake.

"Surrounded by 20,000 acres of swamp, the ones born here, who now know it like the backs of our hands, will be fine. But here--"She points at the map with her stake, "-- newcomers from out of state. Not of Hayley's and my kin. But, word's spread about that baby of hers and it's also spread about Marjorie, the first born child of Niklaus Mikaelson. A lot of werewolves wanna see this miracle pregnancy and the first miracle child for themselves. Only now, the vampires are out looking for blood, and all these werewolves new at the Bayou might not know where to hide."

"You say that like we're supposed to care." Rebekah sighed, obviously wanting to leave the bayou as soon as possible

"Believe me, you're gonna want them kept alive." Eve said

"And why is that?" Elijah asked

"See for yourself." Eve shrugged, handing Elijah the map before moving to walk away

"Wait." Marjorie said grabbing Eve's hand. "Is there anything you can tell me about Killian? About why he's protecting me?"

"You're important Marjorie. Much more important than you realize. Tell me, what do you know about your birth mother?" Eve asked and Marjorie looked at her with furrowed brows

"Nothing but her name, Ashley Kouns." Marjorie said and Eve smiled softly

"The Kouns' were a werewolf pack from Arkansas. Specifically the Little Rock area, but before, they originated here in New Orleans. There is a lot you don't know about your family, Marjorie. But I will say that there is a reason why Killian is drawn to you and why he protects you. Unfortunately it is not my place to explain, but you will learn soon enough." Eve said patting Marjorie's cheek before walking away leaving Marjorie to watch after her confused

"Come on love, let's finish this up." Rebekah said, snapping Marjorie out of her trance

"Are you alright?" Elijah asked concerned and Marjorie nodded

"Yeah. Just really confused." Marjorie sighed

"We will help you figure everything out,  I promise." Rebekah said squeezing her shoulder

"Yeah. Yeah, I know. Let's go." Marjorie said before walking forward leaving Elijah and Rebekah to watch after her concerned

There were now more questions about her life that Marjorie didn't know the answer to and it was just making everything even more complicated.

●・○・●・○・●

It's evening now, and Rebekah and Elijah are still in the werewolf encampments, looking around for the new group of werewolves that Eve told them about while Marjorie trails behind them.

"All these wolves really travel in style, don't they?" Rebekah says as she looks in distaste at the makeshift homes

"Empty." Elijah said opening the door to a trailer

"Behind on their payments, perhaps?" Rebekah asked sarcastically before frowning when she didn't even recieve a chuckle from the young girl

"So, proceed then." Elijah said moving forward

"Let's not, and tell Hayley that we did. Then, you get to impress the girl, we can get Marjorie back safe and sound, and I can go home. You know how hovels depress me." Rebekah said bored

"I'm not trying to impress the girl." Elijah smiled weakly making Marjorie and Rebekah roll their eyes

"Of course you are Uncle Elijah, it's obvious." Marjorie said making Elijah look away and Rebekah groan

"Come on, Elijah! You've fallen for her, admit it! May do wonders for the stick that's lodged up your enduringly-stoic arse if you did." Rebekah said making Marjorie chuckle

"If I admit to you that it's complicated, would that suffice? Or, are you two determined to torment me throughout this endeavor?" Elijah asked with a small smile

"It doesn't have to be complicated you're just making it that way." Marjorie shrugged and Rebekah chuckled

"See, even our 17 year old niece can see that you're just being difficult." Rebekah said but before Elijah could respond they hear a noise and turn to find that the vampire hunting party has returned.

One of the vampires is feeding from a male werewolf. Elijah vamp-speeds over to Diego and pulls his head backwards by his hair.

"Darling, we need to stop meeting like this. This is how rumors begin!" Elijah said sarcastically before he releases Diego and turns to look at the other vampires. "You can go now." When no one moves, Elijah sighs in annoyance. "Perhaps I'm not making myself clear here. This is a threat. In precisely three minutes' time, your little hunting party will become the prey. Now, based on your recent failure to subdue my baby brother Niklaus, despite a better than a 100-to-1 advantage, I recommend you heed my warning."

Diego is visibly frustrated and embarrassed, but he reluctantly leaves with his fellow vampires.

"Impressive!" Rebekah smirked and Marjorie nodded in agreement

"Well, I thought the situation demanded something a little dramatic." Elijah shrugged

"That it did." Marjorie grinned

The hurt werewolf is groaning in pain on the ground. He gets up and looks at Elijah, Marjorie, and Rebekah suspiciously.

"Who are you people?" He asked

As Elijah approaches the wolf, he notices a distinctive ring that he wears around his neck and looks surprised making Marjorie look at him confused.

"I would say the better question is, Who are you?" Elijah asked

As Elijah drove them back to the compound, Marjorie was shocked at what the man, Cary had told them. Apparently the ring Elijah recognized belonged to their mother a thousand years ago that she had given to Klaus' birth father. Cary then informed them of the legend that said a long time ago one of their chiefs had fathered a child to a powerful witch and he would grow to become both a werewolf and vampire.

That child was Klaus, and Clary was a decent of not only Klaus but also Marjorie. So today Marjorie learned that there are things she doesn't know about her mother that explain why Killian has protected her and she also met a descendant of her "grandfather".

It was a crazy day that left her with more questions than she had before but she was still happy that the wolves were now safe and Marjorie can't help but hope to see Killian again so she can thank him, especially now that she knows there is a real person behind the wolf.

Elijah and Rebekah dropped Marjorie off at the compound, making sure she got inside safely before heading back to the plantation house.

Marjorie snuck into her room and saw a tray of food sitting on her desk and the sheets were removed from the balcony railing, making it obvious that it was known that Marjorie had left.

She sighed, knowing Klaus was not going to be happy with her before deciding to take a quick shower and change into her pajamas.

When Marjorie walked back into her bedroom she jumped when she saw Klaus leaning against the door that led to her balcony with his arms crossed.

"Dad." Marjorie started but immediately stopped when she received an angry glare

"You specifically disobeyed me and not only left this room but left the compound to go galavanting in the bayou, where need I remind you always gets you into trouble or hurt, when you knew the vampires were heading there." Klaus said and Marjorie sighed

"Technically you didn't tell me. The vampire bodyguard did." Marjorie said quietly making Klaus groan

"Don't try to pull that card Marjorie. You still knew it was wrong, why else would you have snuck out? All I was trying to do was keep you safe, that's all I have ever tried to do, why can't you see that?" Klaus asked his daughter

"I see that dad, I do. But I couldn't let Killian be killed." Marjorie said and Klaus furrowed his brows

"Killian?" Klaus asked confused and Marjorie's eyes widened

"Right. Killian is the wolf who protected me, I learned some things from one of the wolves we saved. She told me that I was important and that he is drawn to me, it has something to do with my birth mother." Marjorie said and Klaus looked at her surprised

"Great. More mysteries." Klaus sighed

"Tell me about it." Marjorie said and Klaus looked at her

"I am still angry. Very angry." Klaus told Marjorie who looked down

"I'm sorry dad." Marjorie apologized and Klaus sighed, not meaning to hurt her feelings

"Just please don't do that again." Klaus said as he pulled her into his arms and kissed the top of her head

"No promises." Marjorie mumbled and Klaus tightened his hold on her. "Did Uncle Elijah tell you about Cary?"

"He did. But I don't care. I have all the family I need right here." Klaus said stroking the top of her head

What he really didn't want to admit was that he was scared. He was scared of the unknown that was his birth father and his side of the family, he was too paranoid to believe that learning about his ancestors might be a good thing.

But he wasn't lying when he said he has all the family he needs. He has his siblings, even though they are always at each other's throats, he will have this new baby when the time comes, and he has Marjorie his pride and joy.

In Klaus' eyes, there isn't a need for learning more about his father's family because they aren't relevant and mean nothing to him and that's just the way it is.
