April 4 2023
I was sitting on the island stool in the kitchen editing kayla and I most recent video
She just came home from school and looked really excited
"What're you so smiley about" I asked her and she put a printed piece of paper on the counter next to my computer
It was two tickets to Buffalo Sabres and New Jersey Devils right next to the bench for april 11
"No" I looked at her like she was crazy and she nodded at me
"Its for your birthday, and as a thank you for having a job and basically being the reason we can live here" she told me
My birthday was next month but hockey season would be over by then
Ever since I was young my whole family was really big in hockey, my brother played, my dad played, my whole family watched almost every game
I grew up in Jersey so that's my team, now I live in New York, so not too far
I also work part time at my moms bakery which is a lot of the reason we live here
"Thanks Kay" I smiled giving her a hug
A week later is the game
April 11 2023
I got dressed and ready before Kayla and I head out
I wore a grey top that didn't cover my shoulders with jeans and white airforces and a black and gold bracelet with a matching ring and bag
We went to eat first since the game starts at 7 so we drove to the general area of the arena and looked for something close by that we could eat
Honestly neither of us are fancy or anything so we don't really have nice meals at nice restaurants we usually just go to whatever we feel like at the time
We drove around the city looking for something to eat we still had time before the game
"Wanna just get McDonald's?" Kayla asks "Duh!" I said going to the nearest McDonald's even though we passed like eight before settling
"Are we going home after the game?" I asked Kayla "I mean we could, but we could also call your brother and get him to get us drinks then stay at your parents" she looked over at me
"I won't drink but we still go out with Joey" I told her "ok we can do that" she nodded
We went to the game a little early and sat in our seats
We talked for a while and we saw one of the players doing a rookie lap
He's actually really cute I kept looking at him during warm-up
His back read Hughes 43 so I assumed he was Jack Hughes's brother
I finally pulled my eyes off of him and gave Kayla my full undivided attention
"Dude, Rookie is looking at you" she tells me "what if he's looking at you" I asked her "no it's definitely you" she laughed a little looking at him talking to Jack staring in our direction
I looked over and made eye contact with him from across the ice and I looked back to Kayla immediately blushing
"He's so fine" I told her smiling "wave at him" she told me "no are you crazy" I shook my head and she rolled her eyes looking back at the brothers
She started waving her hand telling the rookie to come over I kicked her telling her to stop
The taller brother pointed to himself and Kayla nodded making him skate over
I was so embarrassed I could die right now
The two of them were talking through the glass and I sat there quietly very embarrassed
"We came as a birthday thing for her actually" Kayla told him and he looked over to me "when's your birthday" he asked "it's in like a month but hockey season would be over so it's early" I told him "oh, well happy early birthday" he said not breaking eye contact "thank you" I smiled
"What's y'all's names?" He asked before I broke eye contact looking at Kayla
"Kayla" the girl to my right says "I'm Trinity, you?" I replied with a small smile "I'm Luke" he answers returning the smile
"I gotta go but have a nice night" he says the two of us said bye and he skated off to warm up
"He's into you" Kayla said once he was gone "what?" I laughed "I literally said like two sentences to him" I added "yeah but they way he was eyeing you, he wants you" she nodded "you're so annoying" I put my head in my hands "what?! How" she looked at me jaw dropped "making me think I have a chance" I shook my head and she rolled our eyes
The game went on and the Devils won 6-2 against buffalo
It was a great game for us and after the game, I went to my parent's house to say hi and then I called my brother to see if he was home but he said he was at a sports bar and for me and Kayla to come
"Wait he can buy us drinks it's literally a restaurant they won't ID us to get in" Kayla tells me when we get in the car
I'm 18 and Kayla's 20 neither of us is allowed in a bar or club but a sports bar is different because it is a restaurant
"I'm not gonna drink tonight I gotta drive us back" I told her "ok imma drink though" she said as I started the car and started my drive
We made it to the bar and found him right away
"Heyy" I sing hugging my brother "hey Trinny long time no see. Hey Kayla" my brother said as we got out of the hug
"Hey" Kayla smiled at him "Can you buy me a drink? I'll pay you back" she asked him "Yeah sure but if you get in trouble that's on you" he said and she nodded
She told him what drink she wanted and he went to get it
The two of us were sitting in a booth waiting when we saw about 15-20 guys walk in together
My jaw dropped when I recognized them
"What?" Kayla asked seeing my face, when I didn't respond she turned around and saw what I saw "there is actually no way" she laughed
I spotted Luke and I guess he saw me too
I waved at him saying hi and he came over "Hey" I smiled up at him "Hey, what a coincidence we see each other again" Luke replied looking down at the two of us
"Yeah for real, what a win tonight though, you played great" I told him and he smiled thanking me
My brother came not long after they gave each other looks and my brother was like smirking and laughing a little
Odd
My brother sat next to Kayla
"Do you wanna sit?" I asked him moving over and he sat next to me
He wasn't with us long before he had to go back to his team
"Can I get your number?" He asked me holding out his phone "yeah" I smiled taking his phone and putting in my number and name
"I'll text you later" he told me "alright, have a good night" I smiled "you too, bye guys" he said before leaving
Kayla and I were freaking the fuck out
"Oh my god you have to date him" Kayla tells me "if he asks me" I told her "you know I used to play with him and his brother at Umich?" My brother brought up
"Yeah I used to go to your games" I told him "Wait you played with Quinn Hughes?" Kayla looked over at Joey "yeah only for a year" he shrugged "wait you played with Luke? How come I never met him" I exclaimed "he didn't really go out much like the rest of us did" My brother shrugged
I'm so confused
The rest of the night the three of us just talked and had fun before I drove me and Kayla back to our apartment
It wasn't far it was only about half an hour
