Chapter 9: Fraying Threads
As Yn and Jungkook exchanged messages with the prospective surrogate, the anticipation grew. However, the newfound hope was short-lived, as the reply they received sent ripples of disappointment through their fragile dreams.
Surrogate: "I appreciate your honesty about your situation, but I'm sorry—I can't proceed with this arrangement. Wishing you the best in your journey."
The rejection felt like a heavy blow, leaving them standing at the crossroads of despair once again.
Yn: (voice trembling) "Jungkook, she rejected us too. What do we do now?"
Jungkook: (clenching his fists) "This is relentless. We can't catch a break."
The rejection stung, not just because of the dashed hopes but also because it seemed like a reaffirmation of the barriers imposed by Jungkook's enigmatic profession.
Yn: "We can't let this be the end, Jungkook. There has to be someone out there who will understand, who won't judge us based on stereotypes."

As they delved deeper into the process, Yn stumbled upon a smaller agency that specialized in assisting unconventional families facing unique challenges.
Yn: "Jungkook, look at this agency. They claim to be more understanding of diverse situations. Maybe this could be our chance."
Jungkook: (hopeful) "Let's reach out to them. Maybe they'll see us as more than just labels."
The couple scheduled a meeting with the agency, where they candidly discussed Jungkook's profession, laying bare the complexities of their situation. The agency representative listened attentively, and for a moment, it seemed like they might find the understanding they so desperately sought.
Agency Representative: "Your situation is indeed unique, and we appreciate your honesty. We'll review your case and get back to you soon."
Days turned into an agonizing wait, the uncertainty gnawing at their resolve. Finally, the awaited call came, and Yn's heart raced as she answered.
Agency Representative: "After careful consideration, we've decided that we're unable to proceed with your surrogacy application."
Yn: (voice breaking) "But we've been honest, we're willing to do whatever it takes. Can't you see past the labels?"
Agency Representative: "Our decision is based on ensuring the safety and well-being of all parties involved. I'm sorry."
As they hung up, the reality of their situation sank in. Yn and Jungkook faced yet another rejection, their dreams of parenthood slipping further away.
Jungkook: (frustrated) "This feels like an endless battle. What do we do now?"
Yn: "We don't give up, Jungkook. We keep searching, keep fighting. Our family is worth every hurdle."
