"It's your house, you knock the door" Doyoung said. He knocked on the door, hoping his mom was home. It wasn't that long when the door opened, revealing his mom standing so shocked seeing her son

"Yedam-ah! Oh my, you came home" his mom exclaimed, engulfing her child in a hug. She was overjoyed to see him. She had missed him so much

"You sound like I was gone for too long. I just visited here months ago" Yedam said, freeing himself from the hug. He smiled at his mom, who looked at him with love. "Oh, by the way mom, I also brought Doyoung" he added, gesturing to his friend

"Hi, Mrs. Bang" Doyoung said politely. He was about to bow, but Yedam's mom also went towards him to hug him. "Is this really you, Doyoung? I haven't seen you in ages. You grew taller now. I still remember when you were young..." Doyoung looked at Yedam, asking for help. His mom might have missed him so much that he couldn't free himself from her hug

"Mom. I don't think Doyoung can breathe anymore" Yedam said, pulling Doyoung away from his mom. His mom finally let go of Doyoung, but now she started to touch the guy's cheeks. He could tell his mom missed Doyoung more than him

"I think we should get inside first" Yedam said, once again pulling Doyoung away from his mom. He led him to the living room, where they could sit and relax. "Where's dad?" he asked

"He's going to be late. He had some work to do" his mom said. She followed them inside, closing the door behind her. She suddenly remembered something. "Wait. I haven't made dinner yet. I didn't know you guys were visiting. I should cook now" she said, rushing to the kitchen

"I can help you, Mrs. Bang" Doyoung offered. He was about to go to the kitchen, but he was stopped by Yedam's mom. "No, don't bother. You're our guest" she said. She appreciated his kindness, but she didn't want to trouble him

"No, I insist, Mrs. Bang. I'll help" Doyoung said firmly. He wanted to show his gratitude to her. He knew how much she cared for him

"Are you sure?" his mom asked. Doyoung nodded. "But can you cook?" she asked, doubting his skills

"He's an amazing cook, mom" Yedam said. He vouched for his friend

"I'll take your word for it. Okay then, let's start cooking" his mom said. She smiled and welcomed Doyoung to the kitchen. Doyoung just really loved how Yedam's mom was still jolly as before. He felt like he was part of the family

"I'm so glad that Yedam brought you here. I really miss you so much" Yedam's mom said in the middle of their dinner, her eyes shining with affection for Doyoung

"He actually didn't want to go with me, I just forc—" Yedam tried to tease his friend, but Doyoung interrupted him

"Liar! Don't listen to him, Ms. Bang. I really wanted to visit here" Doyoung said, smiling politely. He was partially lying. He had been reluctant to come to Yedam's hometown, but now that he was here, he felt nostalgic. This was also his childhood home, after all. Maybe coming here with Yedam wasn't so bad

"Speaking of visiting, Yedam-ah, you said you were going to bring your girlfriend here?" Ms. Bang asked casually, unaware of the bomb she had dropped. That caused the two boys to stop eating and look at each other with panic. "Why? Did I say something bad?" Ms. Bang asked, noticing the two's reaction

Yedam looked at Doyoung first, seeking his support, before putting down his utensils. He then looked at his mom and cleared his throat. "Uh... Mom. We... We already broke up" he said, feeling a pang in his chest

That made his mom put down her utensils and look at them with shock. "Oh my, really?" She then reached out to grab her son's hand and squeezed it gently. "Are you okay?" She asked, her voice full of concern. Yedam nodded, trying to act brave

"Why? What happened?" Ms. Bang pressed, wanting to know more

"She chea—" Yedam was about to tell her the truth, but he caught Doyoung's eyes telling him no. Doyoung knew that Yedam's mom loved his ex-girlfriend and he didn't want to ruin her image. "It- it's a long story, mom" Yedam said, changing his mind. "But I'm okay now. No need to worry" he added, forcing a smile

"This is getting too dramatic, can we change the subject?" Yedam said, hoping to end the awkward conversation. Doyoung could only sigh at his friend. He wished he could do more to help him heal, but he knew that it would take time

"I told you, I can sleep on the couch—" Doyoung protested, feeling guilty for taking Yedam's bed

"For the third time, no. Mom will kill me if I let you sleep on the couch. So sleep on my bed instead and I'll be sleeping on the couch" Yedam said as he fixed his bed for Doyoung. He fluffed the pillows and smoothed the sheets, making sure everything was comfortable for his friend. "There, you can sleep here now" he said, gesturing to the bed

Doyoung went to the bed and sat down, feeling the softness of the mattress. "Are you sure? Sleeping on the couch is really uncomfortable" he said, worried about Yedam's back. He knew how small and hard the couch was

"Nah, I'm fine with the couch. You sleep here. Unless.... You want me to sleep beside—" he couldn't finish his sentence when a pillow flew directly to his face

"You're nasty" Doyoung said, looking disgusted. He couldn't believe that Yedam would joke about something like that. They were friends, nothing more. At least, that's what he told himself

Yedam picked up the pillow on the floor while laughing at the younger's reaction. He loved teasing Doyoung, especially when he got flustered. "Throw another one. I need two pillows outside" he said, hoping to get another reaction from Doyoung. And Doyoung did throw another pillow, but this time Yedam caught it

"I'll go now. Good night" Yedam said, slowly closing the door. He wanted to stay longer, but he knew that Doyoung needed some space. "I hope you'll dream about me" he added, before closing the door

"That will be a nightmare!" Doyoung exclaimed, then heard a laugh outside. "That idiot" he said, laying down on the bed, smiling widely. He's glad that he got his best friend back, his happiness, his comfort place. Call him selfish but right now he didn't want anyone to take him away from him

Doyoung tossed and turned in his bed, unable to fall asleep. He checked his phone and saw that it was almost midnight. He sighed and got up, feeling restless and bored. He decided to go to the living room and see if anyone else was awake

He walked out of his room and saw a faint light coming from the TV. He followed the sound and found Yedam sitting on the couch, watching. Yedam looked up and saw Doyoung approaching

"Hey, what are you doing here?" Yedam asked, turning down the volume

"I can't sleep. You?" Doyoung said, sitting beside him

"Me neither. I was just watching some random show. Nothing interesting" Yedam said, shrugging

Doyoung nodded and glanced at the TV. It was a romantic comedy. He wondered if that was Yedam's favourite genre or he's just watching it to distract himself from his own love life. "So, how are you feeling?" Doyoung asked gently

Yedam shrugged and sighed. "I don't know. I'm trying to move on, but it's hard. I still miss her, you know?"

Doyoung wrapped his arm around Yedam's shoulder and gave him a comforting squeeze. "I know. It's normal to feel that way. But you have to remember that she's not worth it. She cheated on you, Yedam. She didn't deserve you"

Yedam nodded and leaned his head on Doyoung's shoulder. He was grateful for Doyoung's support and friendship. He didn't know what he would do without him. "Thanks, Doyoung. You're a good friend. You always make me feel better" Yedam said

Doyoung smiled and stroked Yedam's hair. He felt a warm and fuzzy feeling in his chest but he shrugged it off. He was just being a good friend. He cared about Yedam, but not in that way. Or did he?

They stayed like that for a while, watching the TV and talking about random things. They laughed and joked, forgetting about their troubles. They felt a connection, a bond, that was stronger than anything they had ever felt before
