connor smiled to herself as she extended her arm out and backward to grab her blue hydroflask, littered with tennessee stickers, that rested on the couch behind her. she took a drink as she exited instagram and continued to sip on the straw as she scrolled through tiktok. she moved her hydroflask from her mouth, sat it beside her leg and watched the hunger games tiktoks that were overwhelming her feed. she exited the app, clicked the facetime icon, and tapped tom's name. she grabbed her hydroflask, stood, and crossed the open layout of her and mary's apartment to enter her kitchen as her phone rang.
"tom!" she exclaimed and sat down her hydroflask once he'd answered her call.
"connie girl!" he replied, grinning as he watched her pull open her refrigerator door and grab a bottle of water. "how are you?"
"i'm good," she told him and smiled at him as she transferred the water from the bottle to her hydroflask. "how are you?"
"i'm good," he answered as she tossed the empty bottle at her opened trash can.
"did you see the picture lionsgate posted for the new hunger games movie?" she questioned while falling onto her couch.
"yeah, i saw that last night. it's been all over my tiktok," he responded, running his finger along the gold chain that laid against his neck. "are you gonna audition?"
"i don't know. are you?" she asked and nervously picked at her chapped lips. "i'll audition if you audition."
"deal," he said before she hung up.
